If you want to improve things in a game, you need to make changes to base code. They wouldn't make modders re-write all of their code though, so they'll probably provide support

There's a great deal of work that goes into those variables there was probably a significant reason it was changed. But also unstable is inherently going to take any janky mods and make them more jank, if you want a stable playthrough play the stable branch

i recall them breaking on 41 from time to time on big updates and considering this is both animal npcs and a crafting overhaul with other things being added over time its probably completely different territory than previous builds , just have to play with a open mind that things can be broken especially with mods

To quote someone:

The parser can't understand the recipe data, and throws a fit crashing the entire game if debug mode is enabled while without debug mode the game loads with errors (but will be missing recipes and potentially other things from the scripts)

They needed to change the flag because it specalized certain settings and made the game richer for it in terms of loot and working with their base game assets (for example, needing 0.5L can be used with a pot full of 0.5l rather than filling up a water bottle to make pasta). So it comes down to:

A) Would you like to not play with mods for a small time period where they will restore support for Modders?
B) This issue never be fixed and rely on a mod to fix it for you which will break time and time again?
