Here my plan...
Outline for Building a Base in Riverside Post Office

  1. Objective

Establish a secure and self-sufficient base within the Riverside Post Office.

Ensure the base provides storage, safety, and resources to sustain long-term survival.

  1. Location Advantages

Central location in Riverside for easy access to resources and looting.

Strong building structure suitable for defense against zombies.

Spacious interior for storage and customization.

Proximity to nearby essential locations, such as the food market and hardware store.

  1. Initial Setup

Step 1: Clear the area of zombies and secure the building.

Step 2: Barricade all windows and doors to prevent entry.

Step 3: Identify existing storage areas and designate spaces for food, tools, and weapons.

Step 4: Set up sleeping quarters and basic living areas.

  1. Base Expansion Plans

Defensive Measures:

Build additional barricades or walls around the perimeter.

Utilities:

Set up rainwater collectors for fresh water.

Install solar panels for electricity.

Establish a generator backup system.

Farming and Food Supply:

Designate an outdoor area or rooftop for farming.

Grow essential crops for a sustainable food supply.

Storage Optimization:

Organize inventory with labels and segregated areas for quick access.

  1. Resource Management

Monitor and replenish supplies regularly.

Prioritize tools and weapons essential for survival and defense.

  1. Risks and Contingencies

Zombie Hordes:

Prepare for potential horde migrations by reinforcing defenses.

Resource Scarcity:

Create a schedule for looting and scout alternative resource locations.

Base Breach:

Designate a fallback location and pre-stock it with essentials.

  1. Long-Term Goals

Convert the post office into a fully self-sufficient hub.

Continuously improve base defenses and expand resource production

if i could rid blue dots to screenshot of town i would... anyway here riverside. for anyone who new to project zomboid

Arrived at the post office. Parked the car with the trailer safely in the garage. Time to sweep out the zombies

#

I'm going to roleplay as if there are other survivors, but I'm playing solo. So, the first thing I did was add bedding for a survivor joining the base. I swept for zombies and cleared them out. I also removed various items like paper, a stapler, and some odd stuff that had no purpose.

#

I noticed the post office's shelves were messy, so I organized them. Turns out, there's plenty of space for more shelves

#

The room next to the garage—I'm going to turn it into a cleaning room.

#

There are two small rooms that used to be file rooms. I'm going to turn one into a guns and ammo room and the other into a melee weapons room.

#

I added two vending machines, and I could fill them with some candy, chips, and soda.

I went to Muldraugh hoping to find a sledgehammer. I tore through the whole warehouse, crate by crate, only to find just regular hammers—ugh! There was no sledgehammer in that warehouse! I was about to head to West Point to check the hardware store, but then I remembered there's another, much smaller warehouse south of this one, near the storage units. I went there and—yay!—I found it!

I'm working on building a clinic room for our base. We'll need to be able to treat people in case they get injured. With zombies everywhere, having the best medical room will be essential for helping people and rebuilding a community.

#

i cant find medical equipment in riverside. I'm sure i could find them at rosewood fire station. I recall seeing them there

I'm looking for hospital-specific furniture and decor, which includes things like hospital beds, X-ray screens, and IV stands. Unfortunately, Riverside doesn't have a hospital, and those items don't typically spawn there. Here’s what you can do instead:

  1. Travel to a Hospital in Another City
Louisville: The Louisville General Hospital is the largest medical facility in the game and has everything you need, including hospital beds, X-ray screens, and IV stands. It’s a high-risk area, but the rewards are worth it.
Muldraugh: The Cortman Medical Center (small clinic) doesn’t have hospital furniture but has plenty of supplies.
West Point: The West Point Clinic may have some smaller equipment but no hospital beds or X-ray gear.
#
  1. Medical Facility Furniture Mod
If you're using mods, some add hospital furniture as placeable items, which can be looted or crafted. Examples include:

Pillow’s Random Spawns: This mod adds decorative and functional furniture items, including hospital-related gear.
Build 42 (if you're testing it): The expanded crafting system might allow for constructing more intricate furniture, including medical-themed items.
3. Looting Tips
Check ambulances or medical supply trucks on the road for medical equipment.
Furniture like hospital beds might require dismantling to transport (with a screwdriver or wrench).

Don't know what you do with map. i put up all wrench for car on the road. if there's xxxx on the road that mean many cars totally blocked. "Slow down! there's many cars block the road"

more guns discovery, i'll need metal locker for ammo

#

Front Desk. Place where crew come together and planning. I'll add some seats like lobby

#

There's two bed cot if need to carting wound survivor to clinic

#

A Clinic: I got these two hospital beds from a military checkpoint. It was a long round trip, and now my truck is extremely damaged from too many zeds on the road. I'll need to repair it, but at least I have a backup truck.

Town: Rosewood
Building: Firehouse

In the quiet days before the outbreak, the Rosewood Fire Department stood as a symbol of safety and community strength. Firefighters trained hard and bonded over shared meals in the breakroom, while the firetruck gleamed in its bay, ready to respond to emergencies. But when the world fell apart, the firehouse became a battlefield. First responders worked valiantly to save the town, but the overwhelming chaos left it abandoned—a relic of the old world.

Now, I’ve claimed the firehouse as my sanctuary. Its sturdy walls, open garage bays, and strategic location near the center of town make it a perfect place to rebuild and survive. The ghosts of the past whisper through the halls, urging you to transform this bastion of public service into a fortress of survival.

PLAN

Short Term:

Secure All Entry Points: Fully barricade windows, repair the damaged garage door.
Scavenge for Essentials: Focus on gathering food, medical supplies, and additional weapons from Rosewood's residential and commercial areas.
Set Up Sleeping Quarters: Clean out the dormitory area upstairs, ensuring a safe and comfortable space to rest.

Medium Term:

Establish a Perimeter: Build fences or walls around the firehouse yard to create an exterior buffer zone.
Develop Farming: Use the open space behind the firehouse for a vegetable garden to ensure a renewable food supply.
Rainwater Collection: Expand water storage and purification systems in preparation for the water supply cutting off.

Long Term:

Community Growth: Use the firehouse’s ample space to invite trusted survivors and form a community.
Expand Utilities: Add solar panels or a generator to maintain power for cooking and refrigeration.
Patrol Routes: Establish regular routes to clear out nearby zombies and keep the area safe.

#

The Firehouse Chapel
Before the outbreak, the small office in the firehouse was just a space for paperwork and quiet moments between shifts. But as chaos engulfed the world, it became a haven of solace. A firefighter with a deep sense of faith had converted the office into a makeshift chapel during the early days of the crisis. They brought in a wooden cross, a few candles, and an old Bible from their locker, hoping to offer comfort to their comrades and themselves in the face of the apocalypse.

Now, the chapel has become your refuge—a place to reflect, find peace, and remember what makes survival worth the struggle. Whether for prayer, meditation, or simply quiet moments to honor the fallen, the chapel stands as a symbol of resilience and hope in a world gone dark. You’ve added personal touches: perhaps a photo of loved ones, a journal where you record your thoughts, or even scavenged flowers placed in a jar to brighten the space.

#

The Firehouse Security Office
Originally, this office served as a command center for organizing fire department operations and paperwork. Desks were cluttered with shift schedules, safety reports, and radios used to coordinate emergency responses. However, when the outbreak began, the space took on a new purpose. Firefighters used it as an impromptu crisis hub, tracking outbreaks on a map of Rosewood and organizing evacuation plans. Radios crackled with desperate calls for help as the world outside fell into chaos.

After reclaiming the firehouse, you repurposed this office into a security hub. The desk now holds a mix of salvaged walkie-talkies, maps of the surrounding area, and notebooks filled with reconnaissance notes. A mounted corkboard is pinned with detailed plans for patrol routes, escape paths, and marked zones of interest. Outside, a monitor salvaged from the police station displays feeds from makeshift surveillance cameras you’ve rigged up to cover the firehouse perimeter. The room is dimly lit but brimming with a sense of control—a sharp contrast to the chaos beyond its walls.

#

The Firehouse Garage: Repair and Supply Hub
Once a bustling space housing fire engines and equipment, the firehouse garage stood empty and silent after the outbreak. The heavy bay doors, once opened to save lives, now serve as a barrier against the undead. In its early days as part of your base, it became a staging ground for scavenged goods, with crates and supplies haphazardly piled in the corner.

Over time, you transformed the garage into a functional repair shop and supply depot. A workbench now dominates one side of the garage, scattered with tools salvaged from nearby hardware stores and garages. Oil-stained rags, spare parts, and makeshift repairs speak to the garage's new purpose. Nearby, the "drop-off van" sits ready, its cargo bay stocked with the spoils of your latest scavenging runs. The van serves as a lifeline, bringing in food, medical supplies, and other essentials.

The garage is more than just a workspace—it’s the beating heart of your operations. Whether it’s fixing up vehicles, organizing supplies, or preparing for your next sortie into the undead-infested streets, the garage is where survival comes to life.

Very nice. I like how the shelf divides the two parking areas.

wind lion
#

But peace didn’t last long.

The bandits came. At first, it was a random attack—a few desperate individuals looking to raid your stash. But soon, they became more organized. They came armed and ruthless, breaking through your defenses at the worst moments. No matter how many you drove off, they always seemed to regroup and return, driven by hunger, greed, or madness.

The toll on morale was heavy. Nights in the garage, once a time to unwind, became tense vigils with weapons ready at hand. Every creak of the firehouse walls felt like a harbinger of another attack.

You patched up the wounds and repaired the damage, but the constant siege weighed on you. The bandits were more relentless than the hordes of undead outside. At least zombies were predictable—bandits were cunning and cruel.

Finally, you made a grim resolve. If they overwhelmed you, if you fell defending this base you poured so much into, you would start fresh elsewhere. And this time, you wouldn’t allow the chaos of humanity’s worst to follow you. The bandits would be erased from your story. You’d leave them behind, focusing on survival against the real enemy: the apocalypse itself.

Mod: Bandits NPC is one that repeat attacks. I'm going rid that mod if I end up die.

#

The Firehouse Clinic:

Before the Knox Event, the Rosewood firehouse had a small medical supplies storage room used for minor injuries sustained during firefighting operations and training drills. It was a simple setup—a metal cabinet filled with bandages, gauze, antiseptics, and a few shelves stocked with over-the-counter medications.

When the apocalypse struck, the firehouse's first responders tried to turn the room into a makeshift clinic to handle the growing number of wounded survivors. They brought in a cot from one of the dorm rooms, repurposed a rolling tool cart into a mobile medical station, and hung a curtain over the door to provide a semblance of privacy.

Though not equipped for major surgeries, the clinic became a lifeline for many. Firefighters and volunteers patched up wounds, splinted broken bones, and distributed whatever painkillers and antibiotics they could scavenge from abandoned pharmacies. Its most notable feature was a clipboard hanging on the wall, listing the names of everyone the clinic had helped.

After the firehouse was abandoned, the clinic was left untouched—its shelves still holding remnants of its noble past. Now, as you reclaim the firehouse, you're not just repurposing it; you're honoring the legacy of those who tried to keep hope alive. Perhaps you find that old clipboard still hanging on the wall, the names a solemn reminder of humanity's resilience.
