G'day lads, back with another post. I've been wanting to build in this one area for quite a while, so when the run I was playing on before got cut short, I decided to give it a try. I'll post every now and then, telling yall about the progress I've made and some interesting things I find. This spot is just outside of West Point in cell 32 x 22. At the time of starting this post, I am just about making it to the end of my first week.
#Building a Base by the River from Scratch (Run Over)

so far, all I have is the box truck with a few things inside to keep me going, (tvs, bed, etc), enough supplies to make a decent start on the house, and the BMW that I found on a side road during the trip here.
I've cut down a few trees with a chainsaw, but it only made a small dent through the forest. My eventual goal is to get the house tucked just behind the river bank
I only have a weeks worth of food inside of the truck, so I'll need to head into West Point eventually. I dont want to deal with the population rampup when I am not prepared for it, so I might head sooner rather than later.
The truck I brought here is a little rough around the edges. I lost the hood on the way here dealing with the traffic jams that spawn on the road from muldraugh to west point, and the trunk got beat up from me getting stuck and having to back up into a horde. At least it got me here though.
With every run I do my characters become more and more like a crippling alcoholic.
Then again, I suppose its fitting for this lad. He did spawn in a bar after all.
Tommorow LAL is going out forever, so I gotta enjoy these showings while I can.
Bit more progress on the road to the house.
Clearing out the area for the house is going to take a little bit.
Should finish clearing out the area for a basic frame tomorrow.
I cant start building until I level up my carpentry though, I am only at carp. 5.
I'll have to head into WP to get carpentry books / level
Rather foggy today.
Luckily for me, this area has little to no zombies. The only ones I have seen on the road up here were the two previous owners of the BMW.
So its not very likely I'll get snuck up on.
... Not completely out of the question, just unlikely.
Finished clearing the area for the house. Once I get carpentry 7, I can start building.
Then again, I could always just start on the downstairs framework.
There went Life and Living. No more staring at Deans sexy abs 😔 ✊
The helicopter wirring overhead is probably the last sign of human life I'll ever see this run.
That and the distant screams of those that weren't as lucky.
Went into West Point to raid the school for books, and found this little dinker along the way.
Not too big on the inside, but its cozy.
I also found the two books I needed to progress and build the house.
As well as some magazines and other skill books to read later.
Rather quiet out here by the water. I might build a dock out here eventually.
Nothin' like reading by the fire.
Finished most of the downstairs flooring today.
I plan on having two mud rooms by each of the downstairs entrances, so you can brush the outdoors off yourself before you come in.
The rest of the day today and most of the morning tomorrow is going to be dedicated to reading carpentry 4, so I can start filling in the walls.
Got some more framework done. Tomorrow I'm gonna head to one of the houses down the road, dissassemble some things to reach carpentry 7 so I can build high quality flooring for the upstairs.
Started paving a dirt path to lead up to the cabin.
Wonder if I can pick up a mailbox to place near the front. Maybe a zombie will drop off a generator mag for me.
Starting to look like something that might spawn in game.
In my opinion, at least.
Starting to look good!
Thank you!
I appreciate it
Cleared this house and got Carp 7 in the process dismantling items inside.
Plus got a lot of sheet rope from the 20+ zombies that were outside it for some reason.
One of the poorest condition cars I have ever seen is sitting by a barn near that house.
Poor thing was worked to hell and back and its reward is the apocalypse.
The BMW really needs some new brakes. I've almost crashed it into about 20 different trees. Either that or just slow down.
Its a bit hard to see due to the framework in the way, but I added some railings to the upstairs.
The room to the left is either going to be a bedroom or... something else
room to the right will be a bathroom.
I also almost killed myself by falling off the second story with 40 weight in planks
Added some tile flooring for the kitchen and started work on the living room floor.
I might get this place done by the end of the month at this rate.
Finished a bit of the upstairs.
Still have to do the roof, but that wont take too long.
In other news, I have run out of the logs that I chopped when I was clearing this area.
Going to have to chop some more.
Starting work on the roof. Its REALLY sketchy coming up here.
If I fall, its either a broken leg for 3+ weeks or game over.
So I'm taking my sweet time getting it done.
Really nice view up here though.
Decided I am going to extend the left wall by another grid to fit the roof.
This is why we dont fill in the walls until we have our final plan, lads.
Food situation isnt too great. I'm going to head into west point to get more after I am done putting up the side wall frames.
Luckilly for me I didnt put in the upstairs wall frames, so I only have to redo the bottom floor.
I am also going to need way more nails. I'm down to my last 3 boxes and I dont even have the framing done.
Turns out I didnt need to head into WP. I was on the way down there and remembered there was a group of houses nearby, so I went to those instead.
The 3 combined had enough food to keep me going for another 2 weeks or so.
Plus, theres a cabin somewhere along that lake that has an Antique Oven that I can pick up later.
Got down to 2 boxes of nails, so I decided to get going to West Point out of the way.
My original intent of coming here was to head to the hardware store on main street, but then I saw this place.
Less hasle than trying to break into a shop on main street, and this place plus the factory across from it have yielded 3-4 boxes of nails.
Not bad so far.
Plus, I found a generator. Still needed one of those.
Say hello to Bill, everyone.
Looks like someone was sleeping in their storage unit! Highly against the rules!
I should tell someone-... Oh, right.
The manager is dead.
... So are the people who were sleeping in the storage unit.
Gentlemen
It was an honor.
Stuck around in a place I shouldnt have and lost it all.
The lesson for this run: dont attempt to attack a zombie in front of you when theres a horde behind you.

Building a Base by the River from Scratch (Run Over)
I'll probably be back for another run. The urge to still build a cabin in the woods by the river is still very much present.
Might start later today, so keep out for that.
Anyway, to the 3 people that decided to come along with me for this journey and read this post, thanks for stopping by.
I always enjoy seeing people read the journey of my characters.
