#How can I make zomboid run off an SSD?
21 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I used cachedir already, but the stutters remain(game is also installed on F),further testing has shown the stutters to be inline with a spike in C: disk usage(windows is there, maybe there is a connection)
update: currently migrating OS to SSD,lets see if it fixes
Yea it sounds like the stuttering is from the operating system, which of course is required for any application running on it. No game gets kernel-level access to your hardware; they all must go through the operating system.
theres a startup param you can use to use different directory for cache files instead of users directory
maybe that will help
they said they already set it
after a long and painful journey
i can say it helps during loading and the first 15 minutes
then it seems to stutter again
currently going through logs to see if its some mod conflict
In resource monitor under hard drive you can see what process is writing
I've checked that, the SSD only goes to about 3% usage during gameplay
but the stutters remain
im going to pluck mods out in batches until the stutter is gone
unless its a pc thing,ofc
Only other PC thing I been think of is if youre out of ram so it's having to write to the swap. But mods are much more likely. Not every, or many, mod authors are particularly good programmers.
I don't think its a ram issue,I upgraded to 64gb last week
(also edited the xms and xmx args)
i wouldn't worry too much this is what mine looks like running PZ
