#Riverside is an absolute dumpsterfire

Everybody told me there are no guns here but I already have an arsenal of shotguns and revolvers. Everybody told me it's the easiest location but I am already at half the kill count I had when I died almost 3 months in last playthrough. This place has no redeeming qualities. I want to get out of here.
It's not the "easiest" it's alot larger than rosewood but has way more nice things like a vhs store and a bunch of others. It has basically everything someone could want starting out besides the location, which is super far away from big cities
my first like 400 hours on zomboid I only spawned riverside cause my brother told me it was best
I don't know where your last spawn was or how much you explored but in my experience Riverside is by far the easiest/least populated. Like Rossiray said it also has some nice shops. VHS, book store and decent library at the school. You're not gonna find all those in all of the other cities. Certainly not as easy to get to. Houses are a nice place to loot weapons as well. Quite a few people have gun cases at home.
The location is awful for long term exploration though. Even with a bunch of addon maps you are near a corner of the map and most things will be at least one days drive away.
riverside is not the easiest town of all four from my experience, its more rosewood, I have had way more successful playthroughs starting in rosewood and making my way to clear riverside after leveling skills, not to say riverside is bad by any means, it just depends on your gameplay if you'd be the type of player to be successful with riverside spawn
rosewood even has the fire station for tools, axes shovels hammers pipes ect
I guess Rosewood is smaller and not as populated. My better position on the map as well. Not much there though apart from tools. Early game I'm usually looking for food and things that increases my skills. Most houses in riverside have sheds in the yard which often has those tools anyway.
I personally prefer Muldraugh just to be in the middle-ish of the map. Not really the easiest spot, just better long term.
theres quite a few two story house with garages in rosewood
along with the police station + prison armory it makes it a great place to start if you aren't ready for harder places
That's fine. With my playstyle I like books and tapes for early game. Specially books and reading them asap so I can the most out of the skill increasing broadcasts while the TV is still broadcasting.
I refuse to hammer a single nail until I read the book ๐
Rosewood and Riverside have roughly the same population, however Riverside's is a lot more spread out and more concentrated within the city
Rosewood's population is denser and there's also a ton of zombies in the surrounding areas
same, infact im ~570 hours in and I generally always spawn in riverside
not because it's the best location to spawn but because it's right next to fort rock ridge which is one of the best modded maps I add to my playthroughs lol
Not wanting to be annoying, but technically, any location is a dumpster fire. It just has different scales of such. xD
I usually spawn into Louisville using mods anyways. Super fun. If I'm doing more of a chill run then usually Muldraugh
Hard part is that once you reach Louisville there's no need for you to travel out anymore.
๐
Also the imo axes are overated. I always go with blunt weapons so I don't tear zombies clothes. Sometimes there's some cool stuff on them and I don't want 3 holes in my spiffo suit.
I did one spawn in Louisville and decided never to do that again. I'll never leave that city. ๐
Lol
My thing is collecting cars and I have A LOT of mods. If I can do this without ever leaving LV I'll enjoy the game more if I DON'T go there:
The chances of finding every single variation of the 67 Impala IN BLACK is minimal at the best of times even with mod maps. I was able to do that just in LV
Even in clean condition. Not even with "worn" textures.
LV will always be the end game though. No mod cities I know of are as comprehensive as LV and it'll always be the target. Just not where I want to start because I'll never leave and explore other areas.
Not raven creek or dirkerdam?
