Even though Rosewood and prison are cleaned up, I still have a lot to do, I guess. Here's a few pics of me and my base.
#Three month into vanilla apocalypse mode.

solid work man, i want to do a longer vanilla play but lose interest, how do you maintain it?
Make yourself a story, some character narrative goals
Maybe they want to check on their parents at X town, can try to build something on your own by the forest
yeah that's a really good idea actually, thank you!
You're welcome!
You can always vary this according to your profession.
As a cop, maybe you want to check on the precinct, roleplay they have established some place safe, check on neighbors and so on.
Options are limitless
I'm open in case you want suggestions
I had the same problem as you. Before this, I had a 2-month save in which I played for 5 real months due to lack of interest.
In this run, I started setting ongoing goals for myself. The most trivial was clearing Rosewood, and later, the prison. For example, my current goal is to level up my foraging skill to 10. Another one of my ideas is to go to Muldraugh without any loot and try to survive there from scratch, but in this case, I'm not quite sure what to do with a hundred cabbages in my freezer....
Leveling up will feel like a massive grind and become boring, honestly. Granted, foraging is useful and becomes amazing to level up specially with the proper books, but j think going for a more Roleplay style, more narrative, helps with giving you the creativity and inspiration to survive for longer times before resetting
Maybe challenges as well... like, burning your current shelter and having to start anew
kurt cobain💀
so like levelling up but within a natural context?
Not quite. I dont like having goals like "Reach level 10 in x Skill" because it becomes a chore, and some cases are worst like Electrical.
Ofc, do level them up for QoL changes and more recipes, but a goal shouldn't be reach certain skills to max level.
Just imagine a story for your character
Maybe play as how would you really act in an apocalypse
