#Various glitches ive had today

A little useful guide I'm using. In case you're playing with mods maybe you wanna check your mod list order and give it a try. Tell me if was that.
the mods i have are "More descriptions for traits", "Clear descriptions for moodles", and "Every texture optimized"
with the last one being what i'm 90% sure is letting me play, since before getting it the game crashed when it tried to load a zombie w' AI
Is it because the regular performance hit of the game why you're using this texture mod? One general rule I've heard is that a lot of mods use like 2048 (I don't remember what was for now) on two options and not compressing the textures, but for this mod maybe it's just the opposite of course.
Check game files integrity also on steam game's properties
all i know is that the mod lowers the texture file sizes, which i'm pretty sure lowers that part's RAM usage enough to make stuff work, since as ive checked earlier, my pc has a total physical memory of 8GB, the amount required by the game, and i doubt that i can get everything else to not run so that all of that goes towards PZ
also i'll try this rn
Ultimately, I would edit the total RAM that game will take so it doesn't overload your RAM. You can do that easily by editing the .bat that goes for the same name that the executable you're using (I assume the 64 version). There's also another file with a JSON extension to indicate that, again with the same name as the executable file.
huh, i guess i'll try that, how much should i set it to use?
Inside these two files there's a place where it will say -XmX(value), change that to the amount you want and save. Have in mind that rechecking game files again will modify those to its original state, which is 3072m. In your case, I'd put -Xmx5G and try.
Projectzomboid64.bat has two instances of this value and the Projectzomboid64.json has only one
sorry, I would put -Xmx6g
Okay so change both the .bat and the .json file
Or -Xms3072m -Xmx6g (on every instance). XMS means like the initial amount of RAM more or less and XMX the max amount. I guess not using XMS, game will take automatically the max amount no matter what, I don't know clearly if this could make any difference in performance in some rigs.
Okay so i changed the things, i'll say something here about the result if i remember to and if it does or does not work
Nice! I hope you can get it more stable now. Maybe 8GB is a bit on the edge and with this cap on the RAM consumption you don't get these black things. Maybe it could be another remote thing, but checking files and capping RAM seemed the logic way to go.
crashed
yeah it’s been stable up until the crash usually, the things going missing for the most part seem unrelated to the crashes tho
oh that’s annoying
i stored a bunch of food on a box before the game crashed
it’s all gone
the box is empty
I would just lower the values to 5 GB and if it not fixes anything just recheck game files and everything modified will go back to its original state
I don't think the game crashed because Windows hadn't enough RAM as you allocated 6/8 GB, but maybe..
What about this I found on the mod description tab? Have you tried it?
Also I would recommend you this mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3022543997
As both mods act replacing files they do not need to be activated in-game. I don't know if you had it like this and if you're using Mod manager or not.
fps isn’t a problem and the texture errors aren’t bugging me that much
it’s the fact that the game randomly crashes that’s the problem
also now that I think about it
if the game maxed out the ram on my pc
wouldn’t that have bigger affects than just closing/crashing the game?
also assuming that that was the problem, then capping the ram usage should’ve fixed it, yet it hasn’t
in fact going further into the fps thing, this game runs better than most games I play, none of which have this crashing problem
But have you swapped from using the normal mod version to the hotfix version one?
I’ll try that ig
At this point just about anything would be better than constantly losing progress
Well the hotfix says it's for visual problems so...
