Eleven years ago, the world faced a devastating viral outbreak of unprecedented magnitude, eclipsing any plague or pathogen that had ever afflicted humanity before. This calamity sent shockwaves of fear and despair throughout the global populace, leading to the eventual collapse of numerous smaller governments, unable to bear the crushing burden it imposed.
Fast forward five years, and the United States found itself at the edge of annihilation. In a desperate bid to combat the impending apocalypse, they established the World Catastrophe Killzone Department (WCKD). This newly formed entity was born from the realization that the conventional structures of power were woefully inadequate to confront the looming catastrophe. Barely a month after its inception, the US Government conceded executive authority to the WCKD, relinquishing control and entrusting them with the nation's remaining resources.
