```If you asked when the world ended, most people you may meet are likely to tell you that it was on November 17th of 1993; when that disease popped up in nearly every population center in the world. Arguably though, it was on November 7th of 1990, when those *cryptids* first started showing up. They talked, dressed, and acted just like the rest of us. Only difference was they looked like animals. Cats, deer, dogs... hell, I even saw some sort of Alligator once.
When they showed up, things started to go to shit. In the countries that didn't see them as people, there was violence and social unrest nearly every day. Worldwide, the temperature started to drop off, with the winter snow not even melting by '92. Crops across the globe began to die off, and famine struck not soon after. For those of us who lived through it, those three years were rough. But living through the last 17 years only makes me wish I could go back to a paradise like that.
The road to Knox is lined with fools who tried to brave what's begun to pop up after the all this time, prospectors looking for the untold riches left behind, and those who deal in the misfortune of others. Hell, sometimes cryptids still show up, fresh into the apocalypse from their old lives, like babies out of the womb. Whatever reason you've arrived for, the glow of aurora's light brightens your path forward; be one towards prosperity, or one towards demise.```
