Swift bat to the head
Project Zomboid strongly discourages the unlawful dissemination of classified military intelligence.
lets gooo
I genuinely appreciate A.A.Ron Hunting Supply. Great reference, I love you devs.
Had me in stitches. Hoping to see Balake Bakery and De-Nice Hair Salon
I'm really curious on what is inside the plumbing van lol
Oooooo I like this
if it's tools or things like toilets and pipes
welding supplies
A fun little detail with the books
oh yeah, welding supplies makes sense
I'm mostly interested in seeing all the "pre-lore"
plumbling van could have some lead pipes , pipe wrenches and other tools
I like how illiterate characters can look at pretty pictures
Coughing great
this one looks sick as hell
yay now i will feel obligated to bury the corpses and loocate the
mobile
Actually I'd love to see more vehicles and more options to customize them, like reinforcements etc. But that's for the future
so excoited i can show my plants pictures of stuff
also the needing light to read is sick!
A good idea tbh
I mean it makes sense
Kinda a neat small detail honestly.
Cant look at maps while trapped in a dark closet anymore lol
yah , its the tiny pockit sized things that make this game a golden twinkle
The "PLEASE NOTE" at the end sounds like there should be preview sound files to listen to, but there aren't any (at least for me), am I misunderstanding that part?
should be the youtube video
i tink?
If you can't see them on the post:

Short thursdoid today :(
This is going to be amazing!
But cool news :D
the newspapers n stuff is awesome
So happy to see small details with maps, newspapers, books, and photos
Love it !
Amazing work to all of the people working on this
💖
Oh woah I didn’t see that
I can’t read in the dark anymore : ((((
Gotta get ur flashlight and reward
snuiggle up to fire place to read!
Or get ur handy dandy gamebot attachment that lights up the screen and put it on your book :)
Lol
the "a-choo!" sound could use replacing
May or may not be working on a mod for this 😳
I'm glad to see the books no longer be consumed (looking forward to that bit the most, rather)
its like the characters eat the book after reading it.
if we get more types of books can we have some bibles in PZ.

soo much ham
it seems that the people who were hired to make more posts on PZ social media have already been fired 😦
what?
no?
The "what" means basically "what are you talking about"
We didn't hire people to post on socials
ah, then I got confused, once I read in a blog post that new people arrived to help create content for the community, not game content, but social content really
but i must have read it wrong 🙂
yeah these are getting tough to read. i appreciate the team fleshing out everything that they want to include in the thursdoids but; it's really just coming off as a teenager that is trying to rush an essay before class
the amount of redundancy in these posts are exhausting for somebody that reads every single update. there's just obvious bloat in the body text where you will say the same thing in 4 different ways
for somebody that just happens to stumble upon these updates its probably not too inviting because of how much of a slog they are sometimes.
we dont really care how long B42 takes or how little you can show us, we'll be patient but seriously hearing about new features being mixed in this far into B41's release is getting disheartening
being the absolute quality this game is, I have no doubt it will continue to grow as probably the best survival zombie game of all time, the dev team has great ambition but you guys may seriously need more of a team to pull it together, ive seen way too many indie games catch traction and then have an AAA studio create a clone and steal their lunch money
ah, I remembered, what I had read e.e
This is something I do not understand.
We have several people on the team we can't just have twirling their thumbs
i respect that, but this game has a laundry list of features that would be straight QoL right, but the mod community solves it for the most part at least in b41
like opening a can with a knife, or sitting in a chair
if immersion is the focus there's plenty of places to start right?
The thing that we said is something in b42?
what sitting in furniture?
that's dope if so
listen you guys clearly have more ambition than any(?) dev teams out there, the creativity is insane
but looking at what is planed for 44, even 43... like, this could be the next big game
I think its exciting seeing the upcoming additions to build 42, like the house plants, have yet to come across in other games I have played. The addition to needing lights to read i think is pretty immersive. The animations for sitting never really been an issue for me, tried the mod for a little bit, ended up uninstalling it. Just not that big of a deal to me. Id rather have other things I guess. To each their own.
that wasnt the point, i was just listing things that could be implemented within an hour
maybe it is a little more complex than that
We explained shy we can't just keep updating 41
the engine rebuild is relevant yeah
That's what we did before build 41 and in large part why build 41 took as long as it did
Furthermore, sitting in furniture is 100% not something done within an hour
so you think b42 will be a 1.0 of sorts at least from an engine / dev perspective
We went into this too
LUA is tricky. it's not that tricky.
lets go to my other example then, smacking a can with a hammer or carving it with a knife
that's just balance work
Well you think that it can be done in Lua
holy hell aren't you annoying
Sorry man, just frustrating having to repeat ourselves on this
thank you
no i get it
The mod certainly didn't take an hour to do. It's not just lua. We have explained that there is a lot more to it and that is evident if you spend a minute looking at the mod that suffers from limitations that we need to overcome. Some of the changes coming in 42 will alleviate some of that, making sitting in furniture easier down the road. We blogged about this fairly recently too.
did i detect an insinuation that you're going to be switching languages too? no more LUA?
But when someone not only says "could be done within an hour", "it's not that hard" and "done in lua" it's just instantly clear that you seem to have a misconception about the necessary work
No, not a sliver of it
noice
And again, sorry if this comes off rude or annoyed. Just insanely frustrating having to repeat it so often, so it's just my frustration getting the better of me there
nah i prefer real answers over PR / cooperate speak
if you say its hard, i believe you that im wrong
amending the current build is probably a nightmare and you guys want to tighten things up in the future, i get it.
I like the thursdoid writing style
im extremely interested on your (the teams) perspective on the past year and a half. going from a long running indie project to consistently in the top 25 steam games for nearly a year? i imagine you guys are feeling on top of the world about how large of a community you've grown at this point
it makes me wish for more transparency on when but that's just my impatience
I always rush to read the thursdoids when they come out and I never click away halfway through reading them which is unusual for me and my burnt out attention span
Thursdoids are amazing
i always* feel like the first half of the body is kind of a slog
but that's just me
Then watch a TikTok summery of the Thursdoid instead of reading it
fair
id have to install tiktok tho
😩
emotional support animals in PZ would be nice.
im right here
Although, that emotional support quickly becomes trauma if ol yeller gets eaten
I kinda dont want dogs cause id care about it too much 😅
cant wait to read the actual lore ingame
Been wanting a system that reveals locations like that for a while now, genius little addition.
Also more LORE, am i dreaming?
it's nice RP-wise, but with how well the map is known, then I don't really see a lot of value there personally
Agreed, late game air drops with radio announcements will be the best really, especially for those who dont like the idea of respawning loot
The profession vehicles probably scratch that itch rly
Well that sounds like a you problem
You don’t always have to go look at the map online
yes, I'm not shitting on the feature per se
Not to mention all the new map content we will likely get
it's just my opinion
That sounds like a you assumption. Maybe they just know the map well without looking online?
your not ready yet ready.

Not every player knows every single location
we need a butcher store
epic name
Sean Penn ham
I for one like the idea of being able to have something revealed on the map

cant wait to see map more expanded this will make PZ more excellent.
Penn's Hams and Meats.
Prices that you can't beat
Isnt the map already huge? Like ridiculously big? Imo im not sure thats whats hampering gameplay longevity. More places to go doesnt necessarily equal more playtime
maybe more base locations to change up playstyle
lactose intolerant trait in PZ cant consume milk products
allergic, sneezes during spring/summer
seasonal allergies
allergic to nuts trait
random food allergy trait " you are allergic to insert food name.
I’ve purposefully avoided the online map for this reason.. trying to keep some amount of discovery. I’ve seen a lot of cool places on YouTube and stuff, but don’t know where it is and get excited when I find it
^Especially on a smaller scale! It’s neat revealing parts of Louisville.. but at <100 hours so far I know I’m a LONG way away from being able to use that
I think it would be really neat to be able to find a “highway map” that reveals the highways on the map but not detail about actual exits, the towns, etc.
Why’s no one talking about us getting 6 new tv channels
Life and Living 4 life
Good point and plus more radio stations even though I love the TrueMusic mod
I love the work that you and your team does for Project Zomboid. Project Zomboid is one of the only games on steam that I've made a little review on I truly believe this is one of the best zombie survival games out there
Saying this because I don't see it being said as much but you guys are appreciated
I really like that readables are not consumables anymore. And the cooldown between uses reflects that your character forgets more and more of the details, and would be entertained reading it again later
If reading skill books n shouldn’t make you bored and unhappy
books that teach you professions and skills arent that fun to read irl, the boredom you get in game from reading a skill book for hours straight makes sense to me
Since there is some work being done on cars, at least to the extent of tweaking their spawns, it would be cool if we could get some door animations like some mods have implemented to address the "door not closed" situation.
Or for lack of dev power to do animations maybe just add a gauge light to the driving UI that tells you if a door is ajar.
It can reduce some boredom to learn something, especially if that skill or profession interests you
Especially in an apocalypse setting in 1993, nothing much to do to entertain yourself besides reading so I think it makes sense
Speak for yourself I get bored reading skill shit in my profession irl
My biggest complaint is when my character gets bored from spending hours stripping every ounce of loot out of a building .. how is that boring??! /s
i use boredom tweaks , im not sure if they plan on reworking boredom in future , but might helps if you want a mod :3
Especially if what you're learning is something thats directly gonna make your life easier/more comfortable. If i was in a zed apocalypse and just read some useful shit, id be excited to put it into practice
Maybe they could make it so that you get a level of satisfaction when you make something new, which negates boredom. With the bonus reducing each subsequent time you make it
I guess it depends on the person haha, I love reading about psychology
Maybe the best balance would be to make leveling up decrease boredom.
I think the fast reader trait could benefit from having a joy buff when reading books, because there are people who actually enjoy reading books quite a lot, but not everybody is going to find reading a book regarding carpentry a thrilling experience despite it being a very helpful use of your time
Maybe fast reader could be remade into a trait called "bookworm" or something along those lines, that was a thing in CDDA that made reading skill books a little easier
i kid mostly, but hey if you like psychology have fun with that
messing with other peoples minds
I’d like an irl mental health update
I really enjoy the little bits of lore that I find in pz when I come across certain combos of zeds, vehicles, and outfits like birthday parties, frat houses, house fire responses, or police raiding a hideout. I'm really looking forward to the additional lore with readables since it's not so easy to distinguish between one regular house and another
And I think the vehicles and pamphlets for loot locations will be very good for new players, even if more experienced players know the map or reference it online. It never made sense to me that my character wouldn't know their immediate area and place of work, and the pamphlets make that a little closer
it would be good even for experienced
For sure, I'm looking forward to it myself
I'm Bren. Pat_Bren
bren more like friend
The urban myth is real.
What's the "Pat" short for?

What is puppers short for
That persistent book one is the one I've been looking for
Reasons to build a library
💯
Every thrusdoid it's cooler than previous one. Im excited for B42 but no idea when will come right?
2073
perhaps this year.
Maybe a beta
Mayybe Itll be a surprise! When we least expect, im so excoited
lets hope for a late 2023 for build 42
I'm betting late Summer until it comes out on the beta branch
Imagine they shadow drop it on the beta branch
I remember the day build 41 IWBUMS was released to the public back in 2019 during some youtubers live stream since some youtubers got early access to that build 41 at that time.
I know what I must do
Can't wait. Waiting to start a new stream with the new update. Whenever it may come out
until we get to see some rabbits become shown in a blog post.
They should make any container work like a freezer if it left outside in the middle of the winter. Makes perfect sense, and should be realy useful in "year's after the apocalypse" when there's no gas and working refrigerators
Maybe gather up some snow and put it in a cooler
be able to melt snow and have fresh drinkable water
having rain collector barrels freeze in the winter preventing collecting water.
We can't even sit on a chair guys, they're asking too much
💯
Maybe if containers checked the "temperature" of their tile 🤔
Something that'd be interesting for multiplayer i think is for moodles to be able to be influenced by other players. For example smoking indoors will cause other players inside who arent smokers to get unhappy. Maybe sitting in a car with someone who hasn't bathed in weeks has a similar effect. Inversely, just having company (that isnt irritating) could slow unhappiness build up
Could even make a whole "irritated" moodle for this stuff instead of directly affecting happiness. Being irritated could slow XP gains and randomly interrupt timed actions simulating that something is preventing you from concentrating
😦 how much longer i wanna play so badly lol
Just play now
Nah updates going to be almost a completely different game
It’ll be the same game just more items
And other things
Either way you gonna be waiting a good while, possibly a year
Its gonna be a lot more than just "more items" 🤣
I did say “and other things”
It's almost like that's what an update does
after cars and weapons, nothing else would impact the game as much as animals, in my opinion
Npcs would
And I didn't say ''for me'', right? haha

Mostly excited about the light system and depth map improvements. The stuff that really makes the game look and feel tight and polished. Not to mention how these kind of improvements could lead to more polished zombie behaviour too. Honestly think this updates gonna feel like a totally different game. No loot respawn becoming more viable changes everything
Saaame, it just doesnt feel right otherwise. For large MP servers though, it quickly becomes a problem currently
No loot respawn and no zombie respawn for me
