I think the name is pretty self explanatory.
I do not have any mods, never installed any. Since I just got the game.
Here's what I tried:
I've tried updating drivers
I've tried compatibility mode
I've tried administrator mode
I've tried YouTube tutorials
I've tried verifying game files
I've tried reinstalling the game
I've tried removing my files and then verifying which would basically act as a factory reset
I've tried restarting my PC
I've tried restarting Steam
I've tried older versions
I've tried some start options
I've tried alternative launch mode and the normal launch mode for every step I've done here
I have no idea what to do next and I am super confused. I was really enjoying this game so it's very annoying that I can't launch it anymore.

Upload the latest log file...sure you got the specs for the game?

The requirements are fine. Here are the logs, for some reason these were the only logs that were up to date.

These do not look like the full logs

#

Can you try using the "Alternate launch" option when launching the game through Steam?

#

Then share a screenshot of the console window that shows up when you do that

cinder lava
#

Will do when I have the time.

It either looks like it fails to load the sound, or that a file is missing

#

Try going to your Steam Library > Right click Project Zomboid > Properties > Set Launch Options > Type -novoip > Start the game
If that does not help, can you try typing -nosound instead? This is to check if it is a sound related issue.

cinder lava
#

Yeah no, neither -nosound nor -novoip seems to be working. I don't think it's a sound issue but also I don't think it's a file issue since verifying says my files are fine.

In that case, I recommend doing a full reinstall.
First, uninstall the game, then go to "Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid" and make sure there are no leftover files or folders there.
After that, go to “C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid” and delete everything there except the “Saves” folder.
Then just install the game again and see if that helps.

#

The sentence is in bold because it is important to do that

cinder lava
#

Seems to still come up with the same crash and errors.

mild halo
#

The exact same crash even after doing the full reinstall?

#

Did you make sure to delete any leftover items as well?

cinder lava
#

Yep

mild halo
#

I will have to forward the log to the devs in that case since I have not seen this specific one before

cinder lava
#

It's very strange since the game worked fine for the first 2.2 hours.

mild halo
#

Yeah the devs responded that the error is just a missing file error.

#

Do you perhaps have any antivirus?

#

I would recommend temporarily disabling it

#

After that, go to your main game folder "steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid"

#

In there, delete the "fmod" folder

#

And after that, verify your game files again

#

It is possible the antivirus may have deleted or prevented some files from downloading

crimson geyser
#

Maybe even try deleting some PZ game file/folder(s), re-verify & you'll then know if it's functioning as expected by seeing the file/folder(s) get downloaded

cinder lava
#

Doesn't work still. I'm really confused on why.

#

Alright so I just a friend to send me the files in the fmod folder and then it worked for some reason? I don't know why since it should just download them properly from Steam. But it works I guess.

mild halo
#

Yeah it should have.. I am not sure I can explain that other than Steam for some reason failing or being blocked from downloading them
