also. how does respawning work? I have the option enabled to respawn on other players but when someone dies the only option is to make a new character and spawn like normal

You can only join a dedicated server with admin powers, not a coop one
"Respawn on other players" is only for split screen characters

My character is currently in a horde and every time I launch the server it resets her to the moment before death, there's a few seconds where she screams before dying. Is there nothing I can do in that short window to save her? I tried using a macro to spam the command to make me an admin but it didn't work

Now if I just let her die and make a new character, I get stuck on a black screen...

Disable the drag down option in the server settings
Then once you load in you will have more time to use any commands
