How to update dedicated server to latest and why does zombie counts reset every time I restart. | Project Zomboid | Page 1

So I am hosting a dedicated server for my friends but every time I close the server or restart it the zombie resets to very low count, last time we have it at 100k but now it is only on 600.

Also how can I update the server to the latest? The server is running on 41.77 so we play via launching the PZ on 41.77

How did you install/setup the dedi? Steam or SteamCMD?

Via Steam I guess, I created the server via Project Zomboid then edited the files manually and opens it via Server64.bat.

Should be automatic then, unless you specifically set the version. Verify your UPDATES & BETA tabs.

There is no zombie count in the game as far as I am aware

Maybe I just assumed that the number increasing on the bottom right is the zombie population? What does those numbers means instead?
