Using Gimp, Cut him out of a photo and put him on a layer. Layer below him is Solid yellow and slightly larger. Below that is layer slightly larger with a Gaussian blur.

I'd look at other thumbnails for beginner guides, maybe even the ones that did well for PZ
their typography is usually in caps, with the lettering taking up a bit more space if there'd otherwise be nothing there
like in your current pic, there'd be a lot of "wasted space" between the typography, basically

I do have some feedback on your video that I made while I was watching it
-Good, simple editing
-Speak with more confidence and not so quiet. You have to sound like you're confident your tips will help new players.
-When describing traits, you could use screenshots of the "more descriptions for traits" mod instead of showing the trait tier list all at once (clutters the screen)
-I'd argue a lot of people consider Sunday Driver a trap trait instead of one people don't mind
-Good job on encouraging people to comment, well, anything. Helps with the algorithm
-Crouching only helps you with noise, not visibility, and I wouldn't advice pressing it all the time, as it makes your character take wider turns which can be lethal indoors (where walking noise is already reduced anyway)
-When showing potential base locations, make sure to mention where they are rather than showing a plain screenshot
-One can tackle the heli event in two ways: staying indoors (and in a second floor hopefully), or grabbing a working car and driving away
-If you're up to making a second video, you could include shorter and more obscure tips such as using boiling water to sterilize rags/bandages, using stale (not rotten) ingredients in soups to make them fresh, being able to outwalk zombies most of the time, etc

and imo, sunday driver is a good trait. i dont usually use cars in game unless im abt to be trapped, since cars can tend to lure a ton of zombies

Sunday driver reduces the efficiency considerably for a +1 trait, and if you go off road or need to get out in a pinch, good luck with either
