#Underrated workshop creators to be accepted too

Not very game changing suggestion but I notice workshop feels a little biased with accepted items, I really want to buy new skins but the selection has felt a little bare boned lately and there have been skins I wanted in game from other creators that haven't had much of their items accepted in the game yet.

I definitely feel the selection is kind of biased towards Paleo accurate mostly and occasionally JP

#

Not that they are bad, but it feels boring to really only see those two types of things get added into updates

There is a repost thread where stuff can be shown off again to get eyes on it.

As well I think it's fair to realize that just because it was uploaded doesn't automatically mean it's being added 100%. I looked through some of the items and there's a few artists who haven't gotten many items in yet who have some this rotation as well.

As shrew said above, reposting gives you a higher chance for your item to be seen.

Im not faithful with doing reposts, there is also a role called 'content curator' which isnt it a person who helps decide what to be accepted?

Nope

I'd like to just mention too, a bigger net will always catch more fish.

I don't think I tend to spam stuff on the workshop necessarily but I feel like it's easy to pin things on people who upload frequently, however with such a small community and an even smaller community of people who still frequently make content for this game it's easy to feel like the workshop is maybe has a lot of stuff on it, but making more stuff though will always increase chances of stuff getting in and just doing it for the sake of making cool art will always be fulfilling.

Here to throw my two cents in on this situation, because I know exactly why this post was made. And a lot of it was created with misinformation on a subject as well as animosity.

There is nothing wrong with an artist expressing themself creatively with the things they love, especially if it is a creative freedom like the Steam workshop.

At the end of the day, dinosauriac has the full right to accept what he wants into the game with whatever preferences he chooses.

Measures in the past have already been taken to ensure that the same people aren’t getting too many things into the same update.

However, I need to say that as shrew said too. This community is very small, and even smaller amounts of people make content for it. And an even smaller amount of that smaller amount upload consistently. It is mathematically speaking of course more often you will see the works of someone who uploads often appearing more often in game because of this reason. There is only so much countermeasure to that can be taken when fewer people are uploading to the workshop these days.

Dinosauriac as well as shrew stated, has accepted items for this update from people who are getting their first workshop items in right now. He has and always has accepted items from creators that are newer to the workshop, and I’m sure that he will continue to do so.

The curation team has nothing to do with what’s chosen for going in game, and has no more power than you do over what goes in and what does not, as always and always has been, it is the developers final say and pickings on what goes in every update.

This type of suggestion is not productive for anybody, and is simply complaining about a problem that is coming from animosity towards artists in the community which I am absolutely not okay with.

Thinking about it this morning, perhaps the role of content curator should be pinned somewhere as I know it’s been answered before but perhaps something in stone to direct to since this will continue to be assumed they make decisions on the content going in.

if you want a high chance of going in, making content for classes that don't have a lot of items. hell, make human content that isn't just a weapon skin.

#

in terms of being "bare boned" there's an entire other game we've been trying to get released this year. that's been occupying a lot of my time. even with the help of the curators to import and verify materials / textures, there's still a fair bit of work that goes into a store rotation.

#

we've slowed down the rate of new items due to this, but it is also a situation that is likely not going to change in the future. there are several thousand items in PCE now, and a couple thousand of those have had to be cut from Evolution in order to have the game even run. this means we're being more selective with content that is added.

#

if someone has been creating stuff for Primal now for nearly a decade, they're more likely to not only make good content but avoid any serious issues in the creation of that content (oversized textures, incorrect material properties, missing icons, etc. etc.) so naturally their stuff may appear more often.

#

i always strive to include older items wherever possible that may have been overlooked and have quite a long backlog of favourites on workshop that i dig into for major events.

#

if something is highly popular on workshop it can factor into the decision to include it, but there are many other variables that go into selections such as whether it suits a particular themed event. blue-ish skins are more likely to appear in winter, whereas tan or orange items appear in summer or autumn.
