  • Guild War 2 - Doesn't have a specific tank class since everyone can build tank

  • Tree of Savior - Swordsman has a dedicate tank with 1h weapon + shield play style. Super tanky. Very useful for end-game raids to lure mobs. They're also one of the best field-farming classes since they can aggros 20+ mobs off screen.

  • Dragon Nest - Cleric or Warrior taunt

  • ESO - Kinda has tank role?

  • Tank isn't entirely useful in GW2 since everyone can just solo the content or party up. It's pretty neat.
  • Yea EU Dragon Nest shutdown a long time ago. We only have NA/Sea? at the moment

  • Hmm instead of Tree of Savior, i can't really think of any other mmorpg where tanks matter at the moment

Lot of MMORPGs that is coming out is either making raid/party contents to a point where players can solo or party up with all DPS and blow up the boss

the hard truth is, no mmorpg will check all your criteria especially if you're particular about big population, combat, class roles or not willing to include paid options (buy to play, subscription) so you have to settle with what's currently out ^^

going by the mmorpgs currently in service: if you want a strictly defined tank role, big population, constant updates to endgame content, combat being subjective because tab target: you only really have wow or ff14. though unfortunately, sub based.

gw2 has lots of tank builds but is lacking in the constant updates departmentt

they drip feed the strikes and fractals. population is okay-ish. but the combat is really fun

it's not really a "tank" build it's more like support+dps that can mitigate damage or outright avoid it easily

warrior in gw2 from my experience were mostly supportive giving buffs via banners but they do some damage too

those are raid focused builds

not really ones you use for dungeons/fractals

almost all builds just boil down to support+dps or pure dps

there isnt a "tank" class in a traditional sense

and yeah if you want this, and a recent/new-ish mmorpg maybe you want to wait for T&L as you talked about above. otherwise for recent mmorpgs, there's only really wow retail and ffxiv

currently all the talk is from people playing the KR version but there will be updates on the global version posted there as people hear about stuff
