I'm not saying I will do this now as I have two kids at home but in hypothetical terms if someone (like me) would build a website based applications based on the same tsto API with good communicated endpoint's would you be able to use that as a syncable source for a map editor?

nope, the API is for auth purposes only. there is no API for the land data, this is all handled internally by the server and there are no plans (or reasons) to create any similar tools outside of the game
