I did plan for a paper creature that could fold into various shapes depending on what situation they;'re in
I'm trying to make a blender model that I'm able to fold into the different necessary shapes, I didn't decide yet whether it would use a paper boat or paper crane (I was leaning towards the boat because it's an easier fold to make -- folding paper digitally is a NIGHTMARE)
but I already made a paper airplane model for this purpose

Honestly I have liked the idea of player transformations for a while
The whole thing I wanted for gnomes is that you could somehow get some kind of material from them (probably materials they would farm -- I still intend for gnomes to be able to farm certain crops) and then you could craft it into some equipment potion that would make the player smaller, which would then allow specific interactions between the player and gnomes
the small potion would be useful in general
when you become smaller gnomes move around normally and dont hide

so it being a moon would work perfect
ALSO the idea of the moon is a PERFECT idea for what I wanted to do for the giant eye scouting entity in the abyss biomes
I was trying to figure out what to make the eye, it would be perfect as the moon
an unintended feature that I don't really mind being in the game -- using a glider glove and getting kicked by a stumbleweed gives the player a ton of knockback that can be utilized as a sort of primitive fast travel
I think it just fits a lot, of course a ton of legs would kick
also this is the first video I'm showing of the new simplified stumbleweed model with new collisions and step sounds
the step sounds took me a surprisingly large amount of time to implement for whatever reason
but I think it came out super well
god their many footsteps make my skin crawl
Consistently, over and over again, I've been snuck up on by stumbleweeds and the only warning I get is the barrage of footsteps just a few feet away

honestly some of my ideas for a haze hand upgrade would be one that would create a tractor beam-like effect and blast the player similarly to the haze hand, but would be held down instead of being in bursts, and would be able to levitate the player kind of like the fan from voima

the upgraded glider glove would be for gliding and small corrections in flight, the upgraded haze hand would be specifically for launching yourself, which could even be used in combination with the glider glove to pull off some crazy stunts
This also happens with gel creatures (albeit I think that Gel kicks further)

If it's to be the item that various creatures are tamed with, it should definitely be a crop alongside the nut plant
but at the same time, I don't really want the neburaffe's nebulation to be easily activated either
and having it be activated from a farmed resource might make upgraded items too easy to get in the long run

Honse is probably my favorite creature in the mod just because of how I got it to look

I think a prime idea would be for a bug/bugs that render this way, or if I can correctly 3d model my cat that would also be a great candidate

perhaps omni, but there's already the omni hat, so I wasn't sure
There is one very glaring issue with these entities... when you get far enough away from them, even if it doesn't look like that far of a distance, the game unloads the entity way too close to the player
The omni hat emits light, it would make sense to call it that
had to make the tragic decision of reducing the size of the omni
it seems there is no way to implement a larger loading box for an entity
Only reason I was apprehensive was because I was planning to add a light that can be placed that acts like the omni, shining as a spotlight in the player's direction, which might confuse the players or something? I don't know it's not a big deal I'll call it the omni because it's a good name
Anyway, should the moon light (the placeable light) be an entity or a block? If it's an entity, I'd make it throwable, so you'd throw it into the air and it would be a convenient way to add a spotlight
but at the same time, for those who just want to place it down like a normal block, trying to place it down and having it be thrown might be annoying
Okay I'm doing the entity moon ball because I had a great idea for interaction
By default, the moon ball would have a spotlight that would point downwards, but right clicking on the moon ball would make it so the spotlight follows the player -- In this state, if the player changes their position and right clicks on the moon ball again, the light's rotation would be frozen
so you'd be able to set the direction the light points
if this goes well I'll have to add a disco ball as well

maybe add some funny shader to it so the pixels aren't so obvious, given how big it is, the pixelation looks a bit out of place
maybe you could do some fuckery where after the eyeball sees you, it technically exsists at the player's location, but has all its properties translated to it's origional position
I don't know the limitiations of modding the game, but that would bypass the rendering issue
maybe you could use some state behaviour, so if you go beyond a certain chunk distance, it swaps to a seperate entity / mode w/ no hitbox, but a bounding box following the player. In this mode it would translate the model being rendered to it's original world position which is stored as a variable

Because that would probably allow me to achieve this giant entity and other giant entities that I plan to add
(Another I planned was a giant hallucination entity that wobbles like how heat waves look — they would come in a variety of variants, depending on where the player is, and would most likely do different things, so maybe it would be more close to say that they’d be a new class of entity that would appear a fixed distance away from the player far off — I already have a shader for this effect)
Ideas for possible hallucinations are people (maybe a distant crowd, or maybe even people floating at different levels, almost looking like they’re being raptured), giant versions of other vermin like bath ducks, boats
Maybe buildings
They wouldn’t appear in every biome, but mostly open plain-like biomes would make sense

Originally I put the heat wave shader over the omni for testing but I removed it for some reason — I still plan to make it so that if the player has a high enough hate score, the eye’s shader gains corruptness and intensity (think of how polygons look on the ps1 — I’d want it to have that jitter but more intense)
ALSo it would summon creatures I meant to mention tha

One thing I’ve wanted to add for a while (alongside text signs) is the idea of an item frame-like item
Perhaps you could place the plates as item frames? Maybe not
It would probably be more fitting if I went with the idea I had for pins that you’d be able to stick on the wall or ground and then attach items to them that way, it would kind of just look like you placed an item there, which would be super cool for decoration
Capabilities for what blocks can be added is very limited unfortunately, I can’t add any slab-like block without either its collision just being a normal block or it would have placement difficulties, and that seems to be a limitation in what normal godot modding can do
I worked on a one way platform block that you’d be able to jump through (maybe a one way wall too) but unfortunately it just didn’t work out
Block collisions seem to be very hard coded
There are certain things in this game that can’t be edited it seems, unless I can figure out how to alter more advanced shit
That’s also the reason those transparent sponge blocks from the update can’t be placed against one another
I’m hoping there will be a way to work around this soon

I'm absolutely planning to make other mods that would be compatible with this one, like originally I wanted to make it a part of this mod but a mod specifically for adding wires and other redstone-like components would be wonderful

Deer are pretty useless right now, but they don't really need a lot
ANother thing about vermin in this game is that base game vermin are usually simple as fuck
They don't even have pathfinding at all, none of them
they run in a straight line and turn sometimes
This is why I don't feel bad adding some creatures that really don't do much, like deer and sheep are pretty equivalent in that way
Though I would like deer to drop antlers
what you'd do with them I'm not sure
maybe you could make jingle bells with them :)

they just walk and teleport and walk and teleport but their shader makes it so they blend REALLY weirdly with the environment to the point where you barely see their outline sometimes
it gets me every time without fail

One thing I’ve been dreading is getting the Apor to work correctly — currently, they are able to be linked together to teleport the player between each other, but strangeness occurs if you happen to use them in your personal qualia
It’s an issue I’m really not sure how to resolve
#1492182657629552700 Kinda solved this, you can only use qualia and overworld specific teleporters when you are in one or the other
The issue is that if you enter your personal qualia through your personal qualia block, then use an apor within the personal qualia, then teleport back to that same apor and try leaving the personal qualia, it does not send you to the original personal qualia block you placed down — it just brings you to the most recent apor you’ve used
Probably the best approach
I just felt sad not being able to have the personal qualia be a hub world for teleporters
But that makes more sense

It’s really hard to describe because it’s a very very specific issue
Okay so
Imagine you enter your pocket dimension through the klonoqualia block or whatever it’s called
Inside the pocket dimension, you have an apor that is linked to an apor outside of the dimension
Teleportation between dimensions works fine
The issue arises if you use the apor in the pocket dimension to teleport you to the apor in the overworld and then use that apor to teleport back to the pocket dimension again
Does that make sense?
If you re enter the pocket dimension through the apor, then if you were to use the yellow pocket dimension block to leave the pocket dimension, you just get teleported to the overworld apor instead of being teleported to the original klonoqualia block
And then after this happens, re entering the pocket dimension using a qualia block teleports you to the apor rather than teleporting you to the yellow qualia block
Maybe when going to an apor outside the dimension, you could temp destroy the qualia block and teleport it onto the apors position and before the player fully loads in you place it back?
Not sure if that would work at all but if I understand what you explained the issue is, maybe it could work somewhat

Not quite, the issue is that if you enter your qualia with the blue qualia block and use an apor to teleport to an outside apor, then if you were to use that outside apor to teleport back into your qualia, using the yellow qualia block teleports you to the outside apor rather than teleporting you to the original blue qualia block
Does that make sense? I have no idea
But then there’s the secondary issue which is that after using an apor to enter the pocket dimension, once you exit the pocket dimension, for some reason re entering through a qualia block teleports you to the apor within the pocket dimension rather than teleporting you to the yellow qualia block

Hm yeah that's really weird, I think sadly the teleportation anchor method you might have to use
I’ll probably just make it so they can’t be used in pocket dimensions, so you’d have to make a teleportation hub area in the overworld, which might actually be a really good opportunity, since there’s usually no other reason to build in the overworld
(I call it the overworld for simplicity but I think it’s called naraka)
Actually, here’s a good workaround
There could be a variant of the apor (maybe you just feed it something else and it morphs) that only allows for one-way travel, like a specific hub apor, taking inspiration from the one-way waystones from the minecraft waystones mod
this one could be used in the pocket dimension

I’m glad I brought this up to brainstorm, the only reason I’ve been avoiding apors is because I thought this issue was unresolvable, but it would be a cool opportunity to add that specific multidimensional one way apor variant

But it’s just about as hard as players figuring out which blocks to place where to summon an apor (I plan to make it so you place blocks in an arrangement to create them, like golems)

Apors are two way travel in the way that you can teleport between two linked apors
By one way, I mean that you wouldn’t be able to go back the way you came
Im still not sure if it’s the best solution — maybe it wouldn’t be a variant, but rather if you were to link two apors between dimensions, then the one on the overworld side would appear closed rather than open
So basically, the apor would be open and shining its light and stuff in the pocket dimension, but if you use it to teleport back out to the overworld, then the one on the overworld’s side would be shut, just appearing as an average pyramid
So you’d still be able to use apors cross dimensionally, just one way
My fear originally was that players wouldn’t understand, but I feel it’s less convoluted than the one way variant idea — maybe interacting with the closed version would even show “Apor cannot send you to pocket dimension” (not that text specifically but something similar)
The thing about apors is that they feel a lot more like blocks than entities, which makes sense, but I wonder if there’s subtle ways I could give them more personality
Maybe you could do something related to the kila with the apor, they visually remind me of eachother

the inner part of the apor is the actual entity itself, the outer part is more like a container — I’ve already wanted at least one other four dimensional creature like the apor.. but what if there’s an uncaged version of the apor?
Like. Instead of them being golems, they’d be creatures you’d have to trap in prisms somehow
then placing the prism holding the creature and right clicking on it would enlarge the prism up to size (if there’s enough space)
Just hard for me to tell what exactly this four dimensional creature would do — I was hoping it would have a low chance of spawning in most biomes, but would probably be most abundant in one

they only look those weird colors because they spawn when using the faith wand, which inverts the camera color
they're the free version of the apor
you capture them with the prism to get an imprismed apor, which can then be placed on the ground and fed some kind of 4 dimensional essence item (like tesseracts or something, which I think should either drop or somehow be farmed from the free apors) to make them turn into full apors

which will be used to craft platforms (placeholder name)
but I thought about it for a while, and I think it would be great to tie into the memory theme by being able to craft thoughts with them

another cool idea that I could use for memories or something else would be some kind of taser that would be similar to a grappling hook but wouldn’t pull the player, instead it would only be used to hook onto entities to stun them for a short period of time and harm the entity rapidly while hooked (attack is not very powerful, mostly used for the stun ability)
My first thought was entities being able to be tased to make them fall into the ground, but I feel like that would be a bit overpowered
if I ever go back to the idea of wires in this mod, I would probably change them to be nerves or neurons

I've had the idea for instruments that you'd hold and looking up and down would change the pitch
that's an idea I've had from the very start that would be very easy to implement
I decided that wild honses would display "please insert [price] glaggle tokens" when right clicked ([price] would be 5 to 10 glaggle tokens, depending on the base speed multiplier of the honse -- more expensive honses would be quicker) - honses could be bribed to lower the price by feeding them wheat or grass or any kind of candy
and I wanted to add some special steed whistle that would be an instrument that would link to your tamed honse if played nearby
then, if you're out in the wild and want to summon your horse, you'd just play the steed whistle for a few seconds, allowing the honse to fall from the sky
should the honse whistle be crafted with gold as a lategame item? Honses are a pretty big step up from average player walking movement, but at the same time I haven't even been able to figure out how to get gold in my world lol

I think honses should have at least a couple of variants, just simple skin changes, but I do have one idea for a more powerful honse
I'd like the player to be able to craft a unicorn horn with gold and a thorn that would be able to be applied to your honse to transform it
into, you guessed it, a unicorn
this unicorn would probably be able to double jump a couple more times than the base honse with a rainbow trail
probably also would be able to launch some kind of unicorn faith ray
imagine if giving a honse one of these horns while the player's hate level is higher than their faith would result in the honse transforming into something else
like a nightmare or something (mare of the night)
it would have similar abilities to the unicorn, but be made specifically for havoc
Glaggle tokens stack to five so I believe, just for inventory sake, 5 would be a good max so no one would have to have 2 spots in their inventory dedicated to the tokens

One of the things I REALLY want in this mod before release that I haven't even created a concept for somehow would be some floating tamed mob that would hold an inventory that you could upgrade by feeding it or something
maybe you'd upgrade it by feeding it silicon crystals or memories, it really depends on what the creature actually is
I can't go too crazy with the design -- as a tamed mob, it would have to be something that would not mess with the atmosphere of the game too much and would fit with whatever biome you enter
I have wanted to add a sock puppet entity or just any silly puppet for a while, and I think that would fit with the realism of somthing like the glider glove, and I could see a sock puppet floating next to me and consuming all of my junk, but I don't know

Maybe you can add a vermin that you can do good deeds for, like find it food, or kill a vermin attacking it, and it can give you a memory cause it's a good memory you gave the vermin

I have had the idea of maps that you could create that would only show the player's current position as a point, but you would be able to draw on it like the tome to draw out landmarks and paths and stuff
It wouldn't generate a minimap like minecraft's map, that's up to you
I'd probably add a block similar to minecraft's loom that would allow you to expand or copy the map, then your map could be placed on walls, ceilings and floors to display your artwork around your place
This is probably too big for the scope of this mod but being able to get tome pages as rewards of stuff would be fire, like after you do something for a gnome it edits your earlier unused tome page and has some sort of secret on it that'll help you understand some features of the mod that might not be obvious

I've gotten to a point where I'm less just adding new disconnected stuff left and right haphazardly and I'm focusing a lot more on adding features to the creatures that are already in
Something that will take a long time (what I'm currently doing) is figuring out what entities go in which biomes
I made my own spawn injector for spawning creatures in biomes but without a biomelocate command (like in minecraft), I've been having to manually explore and figure out where to put creatures that way
which has been going p[retty well and alkways inspires me to add new crap
I was thinking I might finally get around to doing the other two fruits and the fruit candies
Banana candy will obviously allow you to climb for a period of time because monkey climb and monke bnanana

Melon would probably be the one that would give the player strength for a bit due to how large it is and the fact that it would probably take the longest to grow (unlike the others, it wouldn't have a tree, just a vine on the ground)
Orange would probably make you run faster
Apple would give resistance, like it's increasing your life
apple candy will be green even though the apple itself is red -- maybe I should add a green skin for the apple

Currently the plan I have set up is that melon candy would increase your strength (doesn't make a whole ton of sense but they;re the biggest ones and would take the longest to grow), apple candy would increase your resistance (as if you have extra health -- an apple candy a day), orange candy would increase your speed (idk lol) and originally I intended for banana candy to allow you to climb walls like ladders (I saw this mod a while ago for minecraft that gave that effect to bananas)
but I think banana candy should increase mining speed
