Currently when you buy food, fuel, or med kits they just appear instantly in your storage. This means that unless you run out of money there is no way to ever not have enough supplies because you have unlimited. Also this makes the upgrades for storage size pointless.
My suggestion is that you should have to order your supplies a day in advance.
This means that you need to pay attention to how much you are using more closely and predict how many survivors you will get.
I think that if this were implemented you should still have the option for same day delivery, but it should cost significantly more because it needs to be flown in by a helicopter instead of by truck or something.

maybe even more than a day, maybe there could be designated resupply convoys that only come once every few days.
I feel like this would add a lot more depth to the currently pretty shallow system.
The base management system has already been confirmed by the dev team to be getting reworked
