Fall off Ledge Optional Objective Inconsistent

The optional objective to have an enemy fall off on the mountain bridge doesn't seem to register consistently. Nearly the exact same inputs trigger it sometimes but not others. In the video I fail it twice and succeed once, and I cannot tell what substantial difference there is.
