While I'm not in a position to test the chart just yet, there are some things you should work on that Builder caught:
It's extremely important that if you do a low tuned bass chart (Drop B or lower) that you need to apply the Low Tuning Fix, otherwise the bass path will not meet standards
It also won't detect nearly as well
Okay thank you. What software is that fix in?
Its in Builder, and the pitches are pinned in #creators
assuming the pitches are set correctly in EOF first (which they are in this case, good job) > you can just right click the bass arrangement in the DLC Builder and click Apply Low Tuning Fix
which will change both the Tuning Values and the Tuning Pitch box to be correct
Drop A should look like this 🙂
Also, please click on your Lead arrangement > then on the right there will be a box which says Name.
Please click that and swap that so it is set to Lead instead of Combo
(I've seen some instances in the past where if it's set as a Combo arrangement, it can cause issues)
in EOF if you go to the guitar part, you can go through the menus here to properly set the arrangement (which will just save you from having to change it in the DLCB)
It's always worth making sure your arrangements are properly set in EOF before starting to make the psarc file in the DLC Builder
(note the Low Tuning fix is only relevant for the bass paths too. You shouldn't need to ever do it for guitars)
Okay I was unsure but picked combo because the song only has one guitar
thats fair 😄
Thanks for the feedback . I appreciate you taking a look
So I'm going to look at this more after I sleep but there's a couple settings I'd like to introduce you to in the EOF that you should keep on....
in Preferences (F11) use note distance of 1/8 a beat, which works out to be 1/32 note. what this does is warns you if notes are closer together than 1/32 note which shouldn't be that common most of the time and also more importantly for your case trunacates the sustain so that there is a little gap between any sustain and the next note
there should always be a gap between sustain and the next note head.
keeping this setting on is the easiest way to deal with that so you don't have to manually pull back every sustain that is touching
these are really important to deal with, some note techniques require sustain such as slide, vibrato, etc
in your case it's the slides, you have removed sustain from all them
so to deal with this first we need to decide what kind of a slide this is...
does it pick when it gets to the next note?
then we need unpitched slide.
or is it a "legato slide" where you slide to the next note and hold it out without picking again?
in that case we need to used "link next" status combined with what you have now which is pitched slide
It kind of sounds like the latter to me.
so I'm going to click on the slide note and use shift+n, and also add some sustain to the linked note. should look something like this when it's done.
another kind of note technique that needs sustain as a I mentioned is vibrato. so you have some of those as well. easy enough, let's add some sustain on that
you'll also notice that note sustain on the 0D note. that is far too short of sustain to be desired in game, in this case we actually want to remove all such single note sustains for any single notes without techniques or chords for anything LESS THAN A BEAT (the --> arrow on the top above the notes)
so it should start to look something like this
there's a lot of those such notes with short sustains that need to be removed
for some of these sections we probably need to talk about handshape markings
handshape markings group the notes to imply that you hold the same chord and finger shape and typically also imply that you "let ring" the notes on top of each other
for example right now you have a part like this
we want to group all those notes and remove all their sustain tails after marking the handshape
like this
handshape is marked by selecting the group of notes you want (shift + click) and then marking handshape with ctrl+shift+h
make sure the handshape marking doesn't end directly on the note head, notice how I've done that in my screenshot, I acheived this by adding sustain on the last note BEFORE marking the handshape then removing the sustain afterwards
As for lyrics we've got a big mess as none of your lines have been seperately marked, so it's all on one big long running line
you can select groups of lyrics/ syllables and mark lines with ctrl+m.
You'll need to do that with all the lines in the song. and again roughly 3-7 words per line. make them short and keep them from protruding into the note highway. And each new line should start with a capital letter. No punctuation except apostrophes and hyphens.
As far as sections/ phrases you've got a nice start but they are a bit long so you're going to want to split them at least once more or twice for some of them. Typically you want to aim for roughly 4 measures per phrases as a guideline but also follow the music and the sections like you've done, so just use what you have now and break them down until they're all about 4 measures long and you'll be golden
to address these issues you will have to look at FHP (fret hand positions). I'm assuming you have not set them manually and just let them be generated automatically
I can explain how to take care of those later once you start working on some of the other aspects. especially phrases/ sections as they are pretty tied to FHP
You've got a bit to look at though. I think the sync is relatively close but starts to drift and could use some improvements in a few points
mostly just gets a little late as the song goes on but just needs a little scooting of the beat map in a few spots I'd say
Be sure to turn on the metronome (m) and clap tones (c) to really ensure that everything is lining up perfectly. The timing should sound dead on with all those sounds on.
I'll look at bass too later for sure but if you don't have a bass and way to test that path it's not going to be a good idea to upload any bass paths, maybe with some help with bassists here we can get this one good enough to upload though.
@sturdy scroll I’m here and will be working on this again shortly. Thanks again for your help
Currently browsing through the settings looking for it but I didn't know you could zoom in on notes like it looks like you've done here
That will be very helpful
I wanted to comment in here that I’ve gotten caught up in my own music, and that’s why I’ve been absent. I still plan on finishing this.
