someone did suggest using the army as a kind of ERT when you're out of other dudes.

or as a "good enough to garrison a station with gravity" kind of trainer role

#

maybe also escorts for some bigwig.

restive crystal
#

like they put the army in specifically low-maintenance areas

#

like you said, just to garrison

#

but theyd 100% be primarily used for backline management and such

#

that and planet sieges

#

but marines would probably be used for the majority of a planet/station siege

indigo nebula
#

I want a large carrier vessel

#

Like a TSFN version of the tumor

#

Would be baller to see that, a Flyssa, and two Polaris in formation

#

Pull up on Helios

restive crystal
#

And uh... the flyssa is TSFN... its only destroyer

#

Carrier/battleship is the biggest you get in naval standards

#

Destroyers are like 4-5 levels under that

#

Also carriers would get eat by ADS in this context

#

Bigger the ship = bigger the target = more violent the ADS become

#

But it is a thrilling concept intelligence

toxic mango
#

so its entirely possible to have "smaller" voidcraft carriers

#

they were still larger than their Destroyer escorts

#

ah their designation was CVL

#

light carriers

#

here's a pic of the USS Bataan with what looks like a cruiser alongside her

#

oh its fuckin BELFAST

#

LMAO

#

the way a "carrier" would function in Monolith however means its not out of the realm for a ship comparrable to polaris or flyssa to be a "mothership" of a kind

restive crystal
#

so my point stands

#

anything labeled carrier would be pretty damn big

#

much bigger than the average ship ingame

#

mothership is the only term ive come across thats a good name for smaller carrier subverts

toxic mango
#

yeah, sadly I think Mothership might be the call for naming

celest raven
#

I did come across this

#

A "Nestship". Called that since it originally carried a bunch of dronefighters.

restive crystal
#

jupiter would also count more as a mothership than a carrier

#

its only about destroyer size

#

(flyssa in scale)

Colonel's Log, 2.8.06, Round 1197:
⁨```We've lost communications with High Command, or at least the unit manning the listening post that connects us back. The reasons are unclear, but it must have something to do with the bio-terrorist that got their hands on bluespace tech and disappeared from our brig when we were processing them. There have been minor outbreaks over the galaxy over the centuries, I even had to handle one such outbreak in the past. But I worry that this has now spiraled out of our control, and past Colossus. And at the center of it all, an angry medic who was on the wrong side of our guns when we were fending off an attack from the Dynasty. Is this what turns people into monsters?

Things like this have happened before, but never on this scale. My people and I are the ones at the center of this catostrophe. I want to resign in shame, or let High Command hang me for it. But that means running away from the problem and leaving the responsibility to someone else. At the center of it all, I am responsible for the actions of my men. -I- am the one who should shoulder the weight, and therefore it is my responsibility to fix through blood, sweat and tears. I will not be the reason the Federation falls. The Halcyon garrison marches to clear the outbreak that has begun to spread on the edges of Colossus space. Have mercy on those who stand in our way to safeguard the Federation and all it stands for. Sol Invictus.```⁩

valid lark
#

not gonna lie, I kinda like this as a plot line for a major resurgence of chimera in the sector

#

and as a reason for TSF to focus harder on Chimera clearing efforts

#

if only Zeth's sprites for chimeras had been coded

pastel mason
#

oh it would

valid lark
#

this could be a perfect tie in

pastel mason
#

this would make a great lore opener for an actual, legitimate chimera glow up

#

but sadly the chimeras i made require C#

#

and nobody wants to C# some xeno chimera up

valid lark
#

sucks 🙁

pastel mason
#

so we're stuck with boring regular chimera

pastel mason
#

otherwise this will just become a one-off plot

` Transmission Begin: . . . . ERROR /// CLASSIFIED DATA /// DATA CORRUPTED . . . *******
Clearance level Alpha accepted.

Y `

#

` Admiral W. - What follows in this transmission are the last fragments of data that we recovered from Point Echo Outpost. For some context Colonel, you're far beyond the reach of Federation space. And we can't bluespace in directly, we have to daisy-chain our way there from a series of smaller outposts to reach that contested Hell hole you're currently calling home, and Point Echo was the final link before the Colossus Sector.

The last recorded instance of contact was a bluespace teleporter signal coming OUT of the sector, rather than going in- which shouldn't have happened, as no record of someone being dispatched at that time exist... and then we lost contact. It took us three weeks of faster than light travel to reach Point Echo by non-bluespace means to give you an idea of the distance we usually cover with the teleporter relay, and when we arrived...
God.
I don't think I'll ever be able to unsee what we saw there...

The outpost is gone. We had to quarantine it and activate the self destruct protocol on it to contain the biological agent that took it over. All military forces on board were lost, along with twenty two MARSOC agents we had to send inside to manually activate the containment measures...

Something was let out here. Something unlike what we've seen before. A new strain of the virus that you all have heard of in Colossus... they're bigger, faster, smarter than the samples we've extracted before.
The perpetrator or perpetrators of this attack are still at large. The few station records we were able to recover before the destruct show that a Federation warship named "The Red Emperor" was undocked from the shipyard and fled to deep space unsanctioned before the outbreak began, and we can only assume that's where your terrorist has fled to.

Be on alert Colonel. This is far from over, and we cannot reach you for the foreseeable future. `

For Round 1314 after being pummeled hard core by the PDV fleet on all sides of halcyon:

#

Today was a major loss for the TSF, and had the PDV not gotten distracted by a plague strain likely caused by that runaway bio-terrorist, the Halcyon may have fallen and the TSF detachment assigned to Colossus very nearly wiped out. As it is, the flagship is heavily damaged, and it will take a lot of resources to get all the systems operational. This includes comms to high command, not that reinforcements would even arrive, and our medical servers containing the DNA sequences of all our marines. The cloning pods contained backups of some of our more valuable marines were damaged in the attack, and I don't know how many marines are not coming back. My XO was among those in the wreckage, killed while trying to pull me to safety. I am still recovering from my own wounds, and as my staff tries to repair the damage done to the servers, I'm left with the grim reality that I will need to appoint a new XO to oversee the detachment as we try to come back from this. Even with experimental cloning making it easier to keep battle hardened marines on the front lines, war never changes. Sometimes, people don't come home. But we are marines. We soldier on for the glory of Sol.

@toxic mango @valid lark moving here to avoid clogging up the feedback thread. two reviews (marked as resolved?) that i'd like your input on:

toxic mango
#

the first is fine, phrased as a commander giving a ralyl speech and gives some fervor and flavor imo

#

the second could well be rephrased to sound more official

valid lark
#

Informal and skibidi, wtf

toxic mango
#

you're very skibidi, voss

valid lark
#

Wtaf

drowsy stirrup
#

you know what i'll just leave it for the moment because there's some shit i need to address

#

they did not hyperlink this properly

valid lark
#

WHY did this person think my speech sounds informal

#

does he not know how COs talk?

#

gosh

drowsy stirrup
#

oh my lord they renamed the titles of the security pages instead of changing the IDs

valid lark
#

so instead of adding stuff he mucked heavily about? >.>

drowsy stirrup
#

no i just dont think he knew how xaml works

#

which is understandable

toxic mango
#

xaml is hard

drowsy stirrup
#

alright got it to compile. just needs a formatting pass.

#

@valid lark is "first in command of winter solstice" its own title?

The Colonel is the First in Command of Winter Solstice:- Colossus Sector Oversight Detachment (CSOD)

#

this is weird and feels like a typo/formatting error

valid lark
#

I dunno

#

that's something Kei did

#

imo

#

Colonel isn't a WS rank at all

#

the actual WS ranks realistically start at the first General O-7 rank

drowsy stirrup
#

give me something to replace that phrase with

#

nevermind i'll just say "first in command"

toxic mango
#

Winter Solstice as an entity is kind of...nebulous

#

is it just a term for the General Staff of the TSF? Is it a separate corporite entity of the TSF?

#

I never actually figured it out, as it was played both ways

drowsy stirrup
valid lark
#

so literally the Commanding Officer of the Colossus Sector Detachment

toxic mango
#

the commanding officer can be the captain slot in lieu of no Colonel, afterall

drowsy stirrup
#

boy the grammar in some of these entries is not amazing

toxic mango
#

Kei wasnt the best writer

drowsy stirrup
#

if either of you could give a pass and suggest changes on github that would be great

toxic mango
#

I dont have a github, but I'll peek

#

I..have no idea how github works, nevermind

#

I'll let voss show me

valid lark
#

you just go to the website and look at the file >_>

#

you don't need git for that

#

I'd put the speech in quotes that prefaces the SOP

#

otherwise seems fine to me

#

(even if Colossus Sector Oversight Detachment is kinda weird, but I'll let Kane say on that)

toxic mango
#

the name is...fine?

#

Colossus Sector Security Detachment, Military Detachment, Combat Detachment, Expeditionary Detachment

#

the last one is a personal fav, but thats because it plays into the cavalry job set

#

Yes I rose from my grave to say this
