The only problem is that this only applies to civilians and mercenaries are still classified as civilians despite obviously being different from spacers.

The ones I don't expect resistence from. There are different ways of doing piracy but the important part is that you aren't allowed to leave someone naked if they surrender. So this means that you gotta ask for something manageable first, like ransom. Not billions or spesso but, say, the value of their ship.

If they say no you just take their ship and sell it

Choosing which target to attack is half the success. I generally don't board merc ships because not only are they very likely resist, they also might have extremely danagerous things that on board that you'll have no way of knowing about in advance

On the other hand, if they do resist and you do take over their ship you have a chance of winning a lottery. Mercs tend to have money on them, but they also often accumulate absolutely giant piles of loot

Either way, you need to sneak aboard without spoofing them cause if they start running away the only thing you can do about it is shoot them and this directly harms your profits

There are various ways of doing this but the most reliable is by using a stealth shittle. Nominally the only ones who the stealth ship are rogues, but you can jury-rig something very close to it by knowing how the thermal detection system works

Hi, I guess technically i'm the reason this shit happened in the first place all because I brought up that the maints were being two-sided. Let me be clear and say that this is not what I wanted as a result.

All I did was bring light to the fact UI was being treated differently than RSC when it came to the right to have a central/background sort of named figure that adds to their SOULFULNESS in lore.

All I wanted was to be able to have an important character in lore like how UI has Felix Ullman. And I understand why you had your crashout. UI can't exist without Felix Ullman, Felix Ullman IS UI. And the fact they decided to backpedal on him last minute all because I pointed out their double standard is fucked, and I'm sorry you got the shit end of the stick.

I heavily dislike that the lore direction of this game is being solely gatekept by the maint team, who are by far extremely disconnected from the players with only a few exceptions, as this incident has shown, and don't seem to have a united goal, when it comes to lore they just kind of tweak random shit when they feel like it and the unfortunate victim this time has been UI.

For a rather long time lore has been going nowhere. There is no goal in sight. There is no direction. There is no effort to improve. Maints are busier tweaking gameplay than they are concerned with creating any sense of immersion or unique story with Monolith. And yet they're the only ones allowed to interact with lore.

Let this entire issue be a turning point FOR THE PLAYERBASE TO TAKE BACK CONTROL OF LORE instead of leaving it up to neverplayers who can't even fathom to put together an idea of a solid setting.

Also I don't want to leave out the fact that as a regular player you can PR lore tidbits. My issue comes with the fact that maints decide what is ok and what isn't.

So they have the final say on everything, depending and what they think is a good direction

issue with lore is we want gameplay to actually reflect it but that's quite a bit of work and nobody wants to spend that much time on it

this was discussed way before the public maint chat which should've been a thing long ago to prevent maint-community disconnects like this

it may look like we're ignoring things but it's more so them needing a lot of work to be not half-assed and nobody wanting to spend the time

In my case the person we want to include in our lore isn't even a character we plan on having anyone play, but truth be told I don't think having important characters in lore who also appear ingame if its handled properly. It becomes an issue when they're trying to make themselves mary sues and insert themselves in places they don't belong. "Oh he was actually president of TSF" No bitch. The purpose of lore character is to give more life to the universe, not to fulfill your power fantasy and swing your dick around.
