here is a proposal

The CL could be re designated Civil Liaison
They would have a high position in the CDM as a, well, liaison
The CDM would act as a volunteer peacekeeping brigade for civilian activity of all kinds. This includes stuff like general POI defenses and a way for the CL to interact with other faction without going off-station or being dependent on radios.
As the liaison they would help the CDM to form various ceasefires to prevent civilian casualties at major trade stations (TM/O, Edison, Etc.). The ceasefires would be entirely dependent on the shifts climate and therefore dynamic to the game play itself.
There will be no attempts at alliance, however, as that would incentivize favoritism between factions and the neutral party.
This would also give the surplus of CO funds something to do other than sit in the CO. It could fund the CDM's forces for weapons and ships to defend civilian infrastructure and trade routes.

Id imagine alot of wealthy individuals would prefer to keep such an important piece of infrastrucutre afloat

uh, posting something that happened on a shift yesterday. we got into a shootout with a military designation exped ship that was kidnapping civilians and forcefeeding them mayo. the TSF wasn't helping... so we took matters into our own hands.

I'm thinking of creating a discord server for anyone interested in the CDM. Whoever is interested in the CDM, what do we think?

Create a server to further organize the militia and make it a fully fledged mini-community.

or

Don't form a server and leave the militia as it is. Unimpeded by organized movements and completely organic to the playerbase in-game.

There would be nothing except channels to share stories of the CDM and further communicate about the potential activity the CDM could attempt in-game. Only difference being it's more centralized to the militias players.

I wont always be around to manage it, so ill let some trusted people i know who enjoy the militia maintain the server upon creation.

A bare minimum organization makes sense, like 2 miners covering each other. Otherwise the org is just symbolic.

I gave one to one of those ‘build your own’ ships when I was checking out a ship. And it worked for them.

I think itd be cool if we had logos for each individual chapter that springs up now and again
