An independent company within Colossus Sector, Aetherion Dynamics represents the forefront of technological innovation. Aetherion Dynamics gained great fame and fortune when they invented the Compressed Gas Launch and Projectile System (CGLPS). They represented the forefront of innovation in weaponry, giving them a reputation as some of the highest quality ship weapon manufacturers and designers in Colossus Sector. However, buying their products isn't so simple; while they do focus on high quality products, their prices are much higher than their competitors. Having (relatively) recently entered the market, they still adhere to their founding principle: to build only the highest quality products they can manage. As a result, there is no individual design philosophy they subscribe to. Instead, they focus on making products that do one specific thing better than any other product on the market, and with no regard for budget.
AD was founded thirty years before the discovery of Colossus Sector, and it quickly made a name for itself. After the First and Last Corporate War, most of the TSF survived off of Nanotrasen's leftover weaponry; a few large companies even restarted their production lines. However, any companies that tried to innovate simply could not compete with Nanotrasen's reliable tried-and-true technology. Then, Aetherion Dynamics was founded. Although it had a slow start due to its sheer disregard for price point, it suddenly found contracts as the TSF realized that the USSP seemed to be turning up tensions in the region. Immediately, the need for more powerful weaponry became evident, and AD was suddenly swarmed with business. The dominance of their first gun, the ADBP-1 VEPTOS Mass Driver, got the attention of the USSP, and an arms race was on. AD slowly gained loyalty from their frequent customers, though they often had major production issues that eventually turned people away. After a decade of being plagued by poor quality control and dropping tensions with the USSP, Aetherion was ready to go under. Enter the re-discovery of Colossus Sector.
Once the TSF came upon Colossus Sector once again and discovered the Monolith, it began to send contracts out to various companies to research the Monolith and figure out how to use it to their benefit. To their great displeasure, the USSP had also sent various contractors out to survey the area. Additionally, any ships sent by the TSF were attacked by a seemingly fair-sized group of insurgents. To protect their ships, they once again turned to Aetherion Dynamics for defense contracts. AD secured access to materials found in the Colossus Sector by making deals with mining companies: protection from the myriad threats in the sector in exchange for valuable research opportunities. AD swiftly discovered a use for the new materials discovered here, and it was at this time that their engineers invented the CGLPS. They figured out that they could use a blast of prismatic plasma (the only known element to have no reaction with plasma) fired from an aelorium cannon to launch a pure plasma projectile. This system was famously used in the iconic ADEX-9 DYMERE Turbolaser Battery, which (despite its cost) managed to allow the TSF to gain a foothold in the sector. Since then, the Ashen Republic has been able to get its hands on some AD technology, likely through an insider within the company, and there are some rumors the USSP may have done the same. Despite this, AD has managed to keep its production lines up since they entered Colossus Sector, and has shown no signs of slowing down.
