There was the Animal Crossing hourly themes not long ago

Version 1.2.0 (May 29th) was really the only one that added new features apart from the recent Animal Crossing one.

It added the sleep-time feature to have the music stop after a certain time

And it allowed the 'Extend to...' setting to apply for every song in a playlist

And it also added the 5 and 10 minute options for the Extend feature

The library is important, yes, but so too is the functionality of the app itself

Been debating whether or not to fully lean into it, though, while explaining myself

You know what, lemme explain this, at least: I don't like to pick favourites very often. And I can't say that I agree with putting the music in "waves" per se, because both the frequency and quantity of these updates can vary a lot within a certain period of time.

And if I'm going to critique the service as a whole after one year of it being active, to me, it's a matter of what the service offers to me, more than the actual music

A lot of this has to do with the fact that YouTube has existed and will likely continue to do so, even as this app's birth sweeps over to make channels go bye-bye for hosting any amount of songs from the big N's biggest titles

And for a physical media collector like myself, there's another aspect of several of the soundtracks that I would want to listen to already being in my possession

Some of which are not even on Nintendo Music yet, like Fire Emblem: Three Houses (whose soundtrack is as gargantuan as that of Breath of the Wild overall, maybe even moreso at a potential 7 discs)

I will say I will still continue to download music I want to keep around rather than rely on streaming services even considering file sizes and potential compression
I can understand why they do dripfeed so ultimately all I can say is that at least they're more consistent with releases than they are with Nintendo Classics
the main value of the app so far has been official names and looping
unfortunately I think the big failings of the app are deliberately not including all tracks from a game for no apparent reason and then also whatever the hell is going on with TPC
