So uhh, I just the early stream for Sonic Superstars, and while there is some very cool stuff here that I won't spoil... yeah, not gonna lie, I'm pretty disappointed.
The level design seems fine, but it's a MASSIVE downgrade from 3K and Mania for the most part.
The game is very unpolished on PS4, and I can't imagine how bad the Switch version will be.
Even the music isn't that good, it's pretty good in the first half of the game, but really bad in the second, devolving into f*cking Sonic 4 sounding sh#t.

The controls make even the most basic of environments more fun to traverse than any other Sonic game for me

But Superstars lacks any semblance of style, and while the controls are great due to just being ripped from Mania, for a Classic Sonic game, you NEED great level design to make the gameplay fun, and Superstars just seems okay in that regard

And I mean, Frontiers at least had consistently excellent music, while 70% of Superstars' OST is outright atrocious

from my experience with pokemon, i think it's a good idea to wait before going all doomer mode

when pokemon bdsp leaked, it looked way worse than it ended up being after the day 1 patch

Thing is I tried to keep this mindset with Frontiers, I was incredibly neutral on it until gameplay was shown

But then my fanboy-ism kicked in and I tried to hype myself over what was clearly a horrible showcase of the game

I just wasn’t expecting such a massive drop in quality from Sonic: Breath of the Starfall Islands to Sonic’s Return to Green Hill 💀

Its unfortunate that Superstars pre day one patch (Assuming there is one) looks to be overshadowed immediately by Mario’s Return to Flower Kingdom

And they both release within the same week
