First interesting thing I spotted: A commented-out unit test asserting that you can evolve into Overqwil or Wyrdeer using the "Powerful Stone" and "Technical Stone" respectively. But it says the items were "added for testing purposes", so who knows if that means anything.

||TL;DR: for me is that FRLG soundfont is one of those 'I can only like it because I can just view it as Quirky Thing That Happened Once' and even then it's just when I view it as a handful of remixes and not an entire game's soundtrack||
