the enemies are outright different

and even in behavior it doesn't joke around

it's short

that's why stories are pretty much all completely disconnected from each other instead of following a common thread

I think the inclusion of Dream Friends is what I'd point to first and foremost when discussing universes and canonicity

I don't have the quote, but in an interview someone (probably Kumazaki?) said that they considered their benefit of inclusion from a gameplay perspective before a story perspective, and that whether or not they "actually appeared" is less relevant than the benefit they have to the gameplay and identity of KSA as an anniversary game

I just think they care more about the internal consistency of a self contained game than trying to make everything in the franchise consistent with each other

The "Clash Universe" and the "Mirror World" and "Another Dimension" all have definitions, but somewhere in between there are questions that can't easily be answered because they don't need to be for any individual game

I think a lot of the "this is lore based on stuff only available in japan and even then it's kinda confusing anyway" is why I take a very loose approach to caring about lore. Like, it's fun to know, but it's not THAT big a deal to get it perfect, and if I ever took up fanfiction or whatever I'd probably end up making stuff up anyway

I care probably a bit too much about staying lore-accurate when writing fic, especially when canon characters are involved
But when there's huge gaps that haven't been expanded on/are left vague, that's when the fun begins

oh yeah dialogue's another thing. It can take a real understanding of the character before you think you can do anything with them, but I feel like that's part of the fun

I saw someone mention how nice it feels to read a fic and you can actually read something in the character's voice.. for me, whenever I read anything, I usually try to do that by default, it just feels weird when they're characterized strangely

it made me realize it's good to imagine the character actually saying the line when you write them, but the problem comes when the character doesn't have a voice or if you personally prefer their sub/dub voice
