Hoping for some good fanart about dolphin vs lokix when the game comes out
picnic is day care equivalent
at least they've made getting competitive mons a lot easier recently
mints/caps etc
Yea, an rng based one
The chance of getting an egg is random
at least you just have to stand still
hopefully it doesnt take long then
wait imagine if there was no set for online battles
Could you imagine if set mode was gone gone
set in online battles
Like not just for singleplayer
Because luna existing and stall getting nuked was not enough
We need more snowball options
Iron Moth shiny tho
Ngl kinda want to shiny hunt the future mons
Same with KR and the dung beetle
And clodsire
And celuredge
And the worm, and klawf
Ngl might as well shiny hunt half of the dex, lots of good ones this gen
supposedly they might have gotten rid of the need to use incenses to breed baby mons?
How? Just set something down on the A button?
Every so often of time (not steps) an egg will appear
and the basket can have seemingly infinite eggs
So what would happen if I left my game running for 8 hours
unattended
i'm not sure if the 1.0.1 patch was directly linked but here it was in picture form
They forgot to let Hisuian Basculin evolve
Not using the twin rats or whatever those are supposed to be?
I dont see any fighting weaks
Yeah everything is either neutral or takes 1/2
Mascarada is weak
Lokix is neutral
Finizen is neutral
Dachsbun resists
Clodsire resists
Tinkaton is neutral
it's not plural mons weak to fighting
Oh yeah it evolves into grass dark
I forgot about that
Easy solution
||Just do not evolve it||

get a protean one
Oh right bug resists fighting
thats what the dolphin is for
still fire
dachsbun has an ability that makes it immune to fire moves, and raises def
just make sure the bug can terra water
looks like the dolphin has to level up knowing water veil
source?
I saw an image on centro twitter
also chomp gets spikes
gastrodon also gets spikes and rocks
Interestingly enough people think the day -7 patch is not the day 1 patch so we will likely get another patch day 1 lol
Wait, whose the predator? Also do we know what’s the new fly method?
i'd assume its natural predator is that mon with the hammer whose dex entry says it actively throws rocks at flying Corviknight
That thing? Tinkaton was the name right?
Also, we, we really going with the rocks and birds thing, for real
hey GF said it not me
Exactly, wth GF
Does this look like the face of mercy?
Also i imagine it knocks them up with supersonic speeds
the hammer looks like an item from Crashlands
why does it look like a Toxapex learned to live on land
feels like it's related to the Toxapex line somehow
it's a shame that most mons in this gen have the same eyes
Nope it does not, to be fair I haven’t gotten a good deep look into every new mon we got
man fuck this guy
all homies hate tinkaton
Imagine if Copycat somehow bypasses the Hammer restriction
Story speculations ||some people are theorizing that the third legend hijacked the "time machine" which is how the paradoxes happened||
either it can jet fart or it has some psychic shit going on
Horrible... this is BDSP level of movement
Plenty of Pokedex entries talk about it being able to fly, they just never say how it starts flying
that's not the issue
it's the animation of it flying
TBH, that's about as much as I expected from it
The flying animation isn't the issue, or not the main one
It's far too slow
Garchomp flies at Mach 1
1234 kilometres per hour
The animation do be rigid tho
Behemoth Blade
I initially understood this as "moves that were cut" and it blew my mind
population bomb is a cutting move lmao
also population bomb is 20 bp 😄
Is that the mice mon's move?
tinkaton
yup, hits 1-10 times
tinkaton throws rocks at corviknight, just for the fun of it
yes, it's called quick travel
I mean, mice teeth can probably cut
So it makes sense
The user’s fellows gather in droves to perform a combo attack that hits the target one to ten times in a row.
also apparently the evolution method for finizen is level 38 level up BUT you need another player in your world to spectate the battle
jet punch is +1 priority with 60 bp
Wait what? That's really funny
what type is jet punch? Water?
OU gonna be fun this gen
yes
They can't ban 20-30 mons to Ubers
So it's gonna be a massive powercreep to OU
Gonna be interesting after the really bland SS meta
alright, so basically another water stab with 60 base (90 after stab) for palafin, cuz you already are running flip turn
Do we know if the Linking Cord from Pokemon Legends Arceus is in the game?
The thing that bypassed trade evolutions
we dont know
items are currently the thing we know least about
3
Covert Cloak This hooded cloak conceals the holder, protecting it from the additional effects of moves.
4
Loaded Dice If a Pokémon holding this item uses a multistrike move, that move will be more likely to hit more times.
5
Ability Shield An item to be held by a Pokémon. This cute and rather unique-looking shield protects the holder from having its Ability changed by others.
6
Booster Energy To be held by Paradox Pokémon.
7
Clear Amulet An item to be held by a Pokémon. This clear, sparkling amulet protects the holder from having its stats lowered by moves used against it or by other Pokémon's Abilities.
8
Punching Glove An item to be held by a Pokémon. This protective glove boosts the power ofthe holder's punching moves and prevents direct contact with targets.```
there are the items we know of
(the new ones at least)
we arent even sure if HDB are back
punching gloves for palafin?
youre better off using something else honestly XD
honestly, scarf palafin could work
you flip turn it out, then switch into a defensive mon
Thanks to FalcoLau from the forums
Wind moves:
Gust
Whirlwind
Blizzard
Icy Wind
Sandstorm
Twister
Heat Wave
Air Cutter
Tailwind
Hurricane
Petal Blizzard
Fairy Wind
Springtide Storm
Bleakwind Storm
Windbolt Storm
Sandsear Storm
what ability needs wind moves
tumbleweed is immune to it, bird gets electric boost from them
oh being immune is actually somewhat nice for the grass type
tumbleweed gets buffs from tailwind too
if the team has it i mean
Zapdos cant touch the tumble weed lmao
Players can enter your Pokémon world in scarlet and violet and steal your shiny ✨. 100% confirmed and tested.

this will kill friendships
Someone made the joke that its like dark souls people invading and griefing you :p
Lmao what
"my shiny Mon is cool"
"Our shiny"
"you made this...? ...I made this..."
it may just be rare teratypes
yeah someone else mentioned that
in 3 months it will be, what friends?
Apparently auto battle will refuse to fight shinies
https://twitter.com/3clipse_tt/status/1591397606135328770?t=zd5Pb1RY7zhlL9jeoQxZPQ&s=19 @plush frigate
We finally know how to Evolve Finizen!
KO a Pokemon with Finizen & LV. Up to Level 38 or more while another player & thier Pokémon are spectating your battle.
2128

yup saw
what was the gimmick evo of gen 7?
Slazzle, Rockruff, Vikavolt
All reused evo methods but technically gimmicks. Also Malamars evo method carried over from XY.
but salazzle uses a gen 4 evo method
yeah
My guess for Finizen: Friendship Power done differetly
By the by
Anyone know the shiny rate
It seems to be way way higher than it was in previous gens
may just be spawn rates being higher
last respects, houndstone's signature, has 50 base bp and has 50 more for each dead mon on your team...
i think it might be possible to make a suicide team with the dog and kingambit
very powerful for a nuzlocke
basculegion has it too apparently
? Wouldn't it be weaker because you only get the one time boost as opposed to being reckless and having it proc every hard battle
moreso meant it for like, 'oh no I'm woefully underprepared or getting fucked over'
It's like
similar to having explosion
it's for niche reasons to get rid of something
plus I'm sure some 'pro' nuzlockers
will just
delete fodder
to sweep
houndstone + basculegion + kingambit + suicide lead glimora + sand setter + one more
houndstone sand rush, basculegion with adaptability, kingambit with supreme overlord
this seems fun lol
basculegion should've had a move like this 😦
he has it too
ghost physical
LETS GOOOOO
apparently there is a rumor tinkaton has a special held item that doubles its physical attack
this is complete speculation since we have like very little info on the items
I hope it does, but would be kinda nuts considering we know it has a signature move that is 160 Base
Suicide lead hyper offense
maybe pawmot for the last of the suicide team?
like use pawmot to revive one of the 3 main pokemon and then sack the pawmot
so
houndstone + basculegion + kingambit + suicide lead glimora + sand setter + pawmot
houndstone sand rush, basculegion with adaptability, kingambit with supreme overlord
what you think?
glimora learns all the hazards and also sets toxic spikes upon being hit
ngl i haven't actually looked into most of the mons only Legion and Gambit so the rest are still blank to me
houndstone is the ghost dog evo
suicide team sounds extremely gimmicky if you try to focus too hard on it
pawmot is pikaclone final evo with the 1 pp revive move
also i remember last respects showing up on a few other mons
suicide teams are gimmicky
true but it sounds fun
suicide leads are extremely common
nope just those 2
houndstone line and basculegion line, right?
yes but it looked like metrona was talking about a team based around the concept rather than just ho suicide lead stuff
Yeah i was talking about a team based on the concept
Not sure if itll be any good but its a neat gimmick
you might steal some games with it but overall i'd probably say it'll end up being bad
but if you want to have fun with a gimmick, then by all means
Its a fun gimmick idea yeah
I was goofing with the thought of a level 5 prankster Trick room setter
I mean, Met's probably one of the best comp players ik anyway tbh lmao
this requires elaboration
thanks for the compliment, though i mostly theorycraft gimmick builds like the frosmoth rain team that i got to 1800 in every gen 8 ou meta
tbf i have little context for how good various people in here are at competitive, since i haven't paid as much attention to that scene recently
my response wasn't really a shot at their competence or anything like that, just discussing the concept
Im still upset i failed to get to top 100 before sv came out due to burnout after getting to 101 and then falling
It's job is to set up room and die
The 4 next turns belong to negative speed investment houndstomb or Kingambit
This gets you more options than winning the Sucker 50/50
I went with sand setter due to sand rush houndstone
yeah but why prankster trick room?
Priority
so it goes from -7 to -6?
trick room has incredibly bad priority
Yes it has negative priority
And didnt want to sacrifice adaptability for swift swim
Doesn't Legion have swift swim?
Yes
That was what i was refering to
I wanted the adaptability so i went with sand rush houndstone instead of legion swift swim
tr is a lot more popular in doubles as a speed control thing, also can build around it as needed
in singles....yeah i can see why you'd never use it lol
Speaking of gimmick team, i tried making a clawitzer terrain team but god there were some major holes in the builds
Was difficult to get past 1600 with it
Tried it with different terrains and comps, even tried some increadibly niche mons but it didnt really work
clawitzer's fun
It is
i remember once back in gen 6 where i played it in some vgc tournament that was run (i think on dnf?) and took a pretty good vgc player to game 3 with it
The gimmick was entirely with me trying to make terrain pulse work
that's about all i've done with it compeititvely, but i like the mon in general
I was left with the problem of clawitzer either A. Not doing enough damage or B. Not surviving the hit properly, i could give it an item to fix one of the problems but the other would fall flat
terrain pulse is one of those moves i forgot existed
It was something i wanted to try due to pulse move
You need friends to evolve the dolphin lmao
You need to fight another players dolphin while another player watches
is glaive rush dragon type or ice type?
Ice
aight
120 100% physical
5 pp makes you take double damage next turn and opponent attacks wont miss
in other words switch it out immediately
hm
Does the penalties still apply if your opponent switches?
Or the if opposing mon gets knocked out
presumably, since i doubt they'd make it not apply if it kills the mon
Probably
to be clear, that's double damage next turn, or double damage until the end of the next turn?
Apparently the ability of the 4 sub legendaries is like dark aura
But they physically lower the base stat of the pokemon
You will take double damage next turn specifically
aight
I can’t wait till the anime makes a joke out of the fact that tinkaton kills corvi knights for sport
if glaive rush hits a fairy type, does the double damage still apply?
with how much people are clinging onto Ash, maybe there won't be a new anime
Im... unsure, but probably?
Also wait
This might be the first abilities to mess with the base stat of a pokemon
Wait till the new protagonist, Cash appears
He buys his way to a championship
not fight each other, one person just need to watch
when you level up after defeating a mon in battle
damn Pokemon and requiring me to interact with others
speaking of which
the Link Cable didn't return i assume?
Damn Pokemon being anti game preservation
Raids in SwSh offline are literally harder
If raids in this are way harder offline, fuck that
Apparently you can catch it in raids anyway
Unsure, items we are currently unsure about
This game has a lot of bugs
Buggy game
Lots of pokemon trying to eat others
https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/180Qp0wrGEwomjoU78vFMDJTEkI42Bmql?usp=sharing the entirety of the dex pics
its the Law of the Wild
I get it
there is a new mark btw, alpha mark
What does (-) = 3 M Q X X mean in all of those screenshots?
pokemon gibberish
Gotcha
my brother won't stop texting me the words "iron jugulis" once every few hours
tell him it only exists because a hydreigon couldn't resist that robussy
Fairies really did a number on him
a tiny hot fish
What's it's ability again?
55/80/80/135/120/100
yeah its seems pretty impactful
oh damn?!
Lando getting taunt and nasty plot is funny too
obligatory most of these are just at a glance, rankings are arbitrary, things may change over time, etc
Do the forces of nature have a way to actually hit brambleghast?
The most i can think of is u-turn
which ones do you mean by forces of nature?
take with a massive grain of salt
Lot of orthworm haters
Y'all putting clodsire on the wrong end of the tier list
i should bump him up to good
koraidon in good is a crime
i like clodsire considerably more now that i realized hes a chocolate ecclair
kommo big

I like skeledirge, clodsire and iron hands
And that might be it
Cetitan and bellibolt also appealing
Lando and gang
lando sludge wave can hit it neutrally, i guess
but that requires running sludge wave
otherwise, there's always tera blast, but that uses your terastalization
does tornadus get a decent flying move other than hurricane?
it gets its new sig move
Which is a wind move
Lando's signature move has a 30% of burning iirc
Orthworm in A?
What’s wrong with orthworm?
He's just a metal worm with a goofy face
He's actually a train
Its why he has segments and "windows"
Also it has arms
According to some people from smogon that tested it, it caps out at 3 buffs because it's balanced around VGC
Catch these hands!
Neat
Still good though
that's still 200 BP so strong enough
Blech
Lokix in B
doesn't this debunk the Ho-Oh and the legendary beasts theory?
what theory is that
iirc Ho-Oh revived and bestowed power to Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon and they turned into the Legendary Beasts
I think the main reason it doesn't debunk that stuff is STORY SPOILERS ||the Paradox mons aren't real?||
Fair point
Altho it isn't explicitly stated that Paradox mons are Fake right?
And then the whole time machine fiasco.
I'm not sure on the details
oh that one was debunked years ago
iirc generations depicts them as regular looking dogs that get turned into the beasts
obv take it with a grain of salt
which leans into what I’m pretty sure the original head writer of the anime said about regular animals existing but going extinct which is its own salt shaker
in either case the idea that the Beasts are made from anything is under contention
altho i guess Paradox complicates things
is Pokerus not canon then
Bro what
Apparently the Chinese version has different dialogue in the finale and Khu had the Chinese version as source. The Chinese law apparently prohibits depictions of time travel, so the chinese version says the paradox are imaginary while all other versions just say they're pokemon from different time periods
I just learned about this a couple of days ago when people were talking about the english finale not lining up with what Khu suggested
Tropius, Staraptor, Eelektross, Honchkrow, Braviary, among others, seem to also fit into this going off their pc sprites
how about a robot fucking Hydreigon
No, Hydreigon is a top
well technically, it only bans time travel involving chinese history
Like you can't have someone travel back in time to meet Kongming
but back to the future? a-ok
But my guess is maybe TPCi didn't wanna take chances
it's always hilarious that a Japanese anime did time travel involving Kongming of all things
Do we have encounter tables yet
the anime slaps too
I wanna know where/when to get my nerds
In your dreams, that’s a power bottom if I’ve ever seen one
Btw from everything we’ve heard so far
Isn’t this exactly what people wanted? Sounds like it’s a more interesting story
Sounds as if the game is harder than swsh
PLA mechanics are fully implemented
Is this not actually every single thing everybody wanted aside from better graphics?
the biggest contention i've seen surrounding SV is its Pokemon designs
My biggest issue with SV is just the execution of the paradox mons
SV have like the exact opposite problem of SWSH for me
where I really like the starter designs but couldn’t care less about most of the new mons
whereas the galar starters are lame but I really liked a lot of the other mons
Damn really? I hate the sv starters besides fuecoco
btw, are natu and skarmory in gen 9?
Considering Corviknight is in, I doubt skarmory is in also
gen 8 had both
I’m pretty sure no

Yes
pog
what an odd way of saying heracross

Pretty sure no
This is every Pokemon programmed into the game
some are home only, you can prob guess which
Hmm this greatly affects the bug only run I wanted to do
Man I didn’t even notice that
Get kyogre tfo
We need to stop complaining about Gen 1 nostalgia and start bitching about Gen 3 nostalgia
At least nothing in Gen 1 is game breaking
oh you already posted it
wait so it's not like king of thorns
?
kill it with fire
that thing creeps me up
the other 3 are meh... but this one... it's just not right
this tiktok got me to finally cement myself as team quaxly #svleaks
ALWAYS!
casually 300 bp move
Found a list of all potentially competitive changes in SV and it's honestly much more than I would have expected
• Hail is now Snowstorm and gives Ice Types a 50% defense boost • Ice types now have access to Ice Spinner, a 80 BP Ice move that removes terrain (Weavile and H-Lilligant gets this) • Wave Crash is basically Flare Blitz now and gives physical water types much more power • Protean is nerfed to only once per battle • Recovery moves have been nerfed to only 5 PP for the most part • Moves that a transferred Pokémon doesn’t learn normally from SV and learned from another game will be removed. As Scald, Toxic, Defog, Knock Off, or Mystical Fire are not TM’s or tutor moves in this game, no Pokémon will be able to learn these moves once in SV unless if the Pokémon naturally learns the moves through level-up or egg moves • Headlong Rush is Ground type Close Combat • Trailblaze is Grass type Flame Charge and a lot of Pokémon get this move (such as Zacian, Luxray, etc) • Grassy Glide is less power and, as of right now, not in the game (rip Rillaboom) • H-Arcanine has Rock Head and Head Smash • The storm moves of the Forces of Nature are 100 BP and 85% accuracy that also hit both opponents (VGC is going to be wacky) • Last Respects is a 50 BP Ghost move that gets 50 more BP each time a Pokémon on your team is fainted (Basculegion gets this while also having Swift Swim and Adaptability)
• Raging Fury is a Fire type Outrage • Medicham gets Trailblaze (has a way to boost speed now) • Groudon gets Body Press, Spikes, and Will-O-Wisp • Rayquaza gets U-Turn and Stealth Rock • Floatzel has Wave Crash • Haxorus has Iron Head • H-Braviary gets Tinted Lens and Esper Wing now boosts speed • Landorus of all things now has Nasty Plot and Taunt • Greninja gets Swords Dance, but Battle Bond has changed to where, after KO-ing a Pokémon, a +1 to Attack, Sp. Attack, and Speed is given instead of turning into Ash-Greninja • Avalugg has Icicle Crash finally • Both Decidueye gets Trailblaze (thus Decidueye has a way to boost speed), while H-Decidueye has Scrappy as an HA • Oricorio FINALLY has Quiver Dance • Cinderace has Swords Dance • Drednaw has Shell Smash • Grimmsnarl has Parting Shot • Both Zacian and Zamazenta’s abilities got nerfed to work once per battle instead of when sent out, while Zacian’s Attack is now 150 and Zamazenta’s defenses are now 140, but Zamazenta gets Body Press now • Eternatus has Fire Blast • Urshifu has Swords Dance but Wicked Blow dropped to 75 BP • Zarude has Swords Dance and Trailblaze • Regidraco has Earthquake and Earthpower • Spectrier has Draining Kiss • Ursaluna has Belly Drum, Bull Up, Swords Dance, Close Combat, Gunk Shot, and Drain Punch of all things. This thing’s going to be busted
• Sneasler has both Poison Touch and Unburden as abilities, Swords Dance, U-Turn, Gunk Shot, Acrobatics, Fake Out, Fire Punch, and Rock Slide. ALSO, Dire Claw has almost a 50% chance to inflict poison, along with a 16% chance for paralysis or sleep. Like Ursaluna, also busted • Meowscarada gets Protean along with good moves such as Flower Trick (70 BP Grass move that always crits), Knock Off, U-Turn, and Play Rough • Quaquaval gets Aqua Step (an 80 BP move that increases speed every time the move is used) along with Wave Crash, Close Combat, Acrobatics, and Moxie • The Paradox Mons are all mostly busted, especially Roaring Moon and Iron Valliant • Koraidon and Miraidon have 100 BP signature moves that deal extra damage on a super effective hit, along with abilities that set up sun or electric terrain and boost their best attacking stats while also boosting the best stats of Past and Future Paradox Pokemon
Possibly ONE of the BEST EXP Grinding Spots before E4:
-Get Normal Encounter Power Lvl2
-Equip Lucky Egg (after 4th or 5th Gym!)
-Go to the North and faint Lv46-50 Chansey
(You can even use a low level Ghost Type with Curse + Hypnosis since Chansey has no attack to hit with!)
108
The mouses are cringe pre-reproduction
exclusives minus paradoxes
its funny how ttar and hydreigon are scarlet exclusive, but iron thorns and iron jugulis is violet
same with salamence and it's paradox
Ancient Misdreavus, and Mismagius also
TRUE
potentially a conscious decision
horny for robot bonk
did anyone actually confirm whether tinkerton gets that atk boosting item?
Shiny Eggs fake btw
clear amulet seems quite good
yes one time consume
what does it do?
Effect
When used on Arceus, the Legend Plate changes it to the Normal type, like the Blank Plate.
In battle, Arceus gains the ability to change type when using Judgment, based on the selected opponent's type. While selecting a move, Judgment displays the type that it will become against the selected opponent, if used that turn. This is similar to Unown's signature move Hidden Power.
Judgment will become a type that is super effective against the target, prioritizing any double weaknesses of dual-type targets.
If multiple types are equally effective, Judgment will change to a type that best resists the target's primary type, prioritizing immunities, regardless of what the target's secondary type may be.
For Palkia, since its primary type is Water, Judgment will always become Dragon-type. Although Fairy is immune to Palkia's secondary Dragon-type, it does not resist Water.
For Giratina, since its primary type is Ghost, Judgment will always become Dark-type. Although Fairy is immune to Giratina's secondary Dragon-type, it does not resist Ghost.
If multiple types are still equally valid, Judgment will change to the type that best resists the target's secondary type, if any.
If multiple types are still equally valid, then one of them will be selected at random.
This calculation is done on each turn, so if there are multiple valid types, Judgment's type may vary between them each turn.
it's from PLA
ah i see
sees the gen 8 mons exclusive to violet
...they know sword and shield are on the switch right
tbh still mad it didn't get some kinda from change
apparently mirror herb is also used to pass egg moves
While we don't know for sure, precedents (aka literally every mainline game in last 4 gens) has had the cover leges shiny locked, as well as any "regular" legendary introduced in that generation (with the only exception of I believe regidraco and regieleki), as they like to distribute the shiny...
egg groups apparently don't matter for purposes of this mechanic
presumably traditional egg move passing still works
For some reason 9/10 rimes I hear someone got wiped in sv it ends up being iono
is it just people being bad or is she actually somewhat difficult?
Heard she is somewhat tricky but overall not difficult
According to the two people in the smogon discord who lost to her
That said, it likely means in nuzlocke runs she might end up a run killer
Were people just giving her bellibolt free charges?
No
Apparently she has some coverage for ground types
And mismagius charge beam hax
I see
niether does new poison rapid spin
The only one that will work is tidy up
and the only tidy up user loses by typing
Yup
Gholdengo also blocks SR lol
Basically its like magic bounce with the bouncing part
Needs to target gholdengo though
Apple Jacks
New steel ghost with recovery and 133 spa
His ability is basically
Prankster vs dark types
Towards him
Interesting
I see
On another note
Violet just "dropped"
So i can play the version i actually want now

unfortunately my "nintendo switch" is shit
Same as me, but hey, i'm able to enjoy pla even if it's on constant 4 fps
Basically
Gholendugo is ghost type regional magearna
Gets nasty plot, trick, etc etc too
im actually pretty excited by the changes done so far
rebalances are interesting in that they are absolutely destroying stall
Destroy stall > actually fix the timer
Ngl
Kinda wondering wether or not i should keep playing arceus or start playing violet
Yea fair enough
What? His ability prevents status moves
Not haze though
Since haze doesnt target
Similarly doesnt work vs tidy up cause it self targets
wake me up when they add clefable
EVEN WORSE
u guys know what the guu is
cyclizrad
with the sub move
shed tail or w/e
that shit is turbo broken
godly pivot
Meta is going to massively change for double and singles
(At least till groudon and kyogre become comp legal again)
im very excited to see just how broken torkoal gets
in vgc
I’m making iron hands work, idc how much I have to build my team around him
but actually, the terrain/weather wars will be crazy
and so will the combinations with the paradox
- tera
So uhh
unsure how skillfull tera will be in vgc
Gen 5 OU 2 who's up?
Teraboost is literally just gems
gems are broken??
My early theorycrafting has led me to believe defensive tera will be better in vgc
And tera is not?
But we’ll see
Like, only thing holding tera back vs gems is the fact that you can't tera 4 times in a match
Steel tera on a Pokémon with thick fat so far seems to be the most broken defensive combo
Ngl
I honestly didn't think gf had the balls to do even half of the balance changes they did this gen
It’s super refreshing isn’t it?
Honestly, yea?
Feels like the most exciting Pokémon game I can remember
its very exciting
once they ban all the brokens
i will spam the shit out of flutter mane though
before it goes
We’ll see what happens, idt stall will be dead in doubles, in singles though that shit is mega dead though
isnt stall inherently always dead in doubles
im sure itl eventually find a way in singles
but idk
alot of the new movesets are so stall killer
spikes on everyone, taunt, trick, etc
so many stall killers
even without the nerfs
I’m very interested to see what the ice buffs mean for this meta tbh
That move is probably the best move in the game
move?
Assuming weather wars
I meant the terrain cleared
That also has 80 bp for some reason
Kinda kills electric terrain strats imo
How many drizzle Pokémon do we have confirmed so far?
peli : )
Eh peli
What about good boy toed?
High key, peli is unplayable this gen
Unless you’re strictly vsing sun teams
Everything this gen feels like it has either ghost, steel or electric thrown into their typing
I mean, you can still use them as a rain setter
It wouldnt be so broken if theu didnt give it regenerator
Actually it's boost is less than gems
Honestly that isnt too much a problem
You often dont get into pp stalling strats unless fighting other stall
however the large amount of HO mons might screw over stall
nah vs balance its so hard to win
16 pp matters because 16 pp offensive moves that 3hko can never beat you in the long term
and now they can
(That said pawmot, as good as he is in HO, is even better in stall cause leppa berry works and you can to rezz the mon your opponent had the most trouble with)
*never beat you without help from hazards etc
stalling out recovers is very feasible
Dex entry for a Paradox mon
avoiding the 2hko threshold is how stall teams wear out offensive teams, even if it never gets to the point of actually pp stalling
because the offensive player knows that it's an inevitability so they play aggressive and it goes one way or another
but 8 pp is like massive
||Mega referenced in the year of our lord 2022||
also wait isnt sun like insane
with the new ability
the fuckin
idk what its called
Protosynthesis
Electric terrain will also be good but more counterable due to the availability of ice spinner
well pincurchin vs torkoal
And also cause the electric terrain setter is pincurchin lol
buti guess it depends ont he abusers
Tbf pincurchin isnt that bad a setter
people often say
"you never clicked more than 8 recovers anyways"
which may be true most of the time
but now that the opponent knows theres only 8
they can so easily go for the pp stall
and force through all 8 in the same scenario where they wouldve never done that last gen
pressure also gets even better against stall
like
just down to 4 recovers
thats massive
Simply run 2 or 3 recovery moves
pressure doesnt interact with recovery moves
but yeah
since theyre self targeting
the megamence
@swift pumice doesnt work recovery is self targetting and the only self targeting moves that pressure drops is snatch/imprison
is it really just snatch/imprison? i thought it worked for all self-targeting moves since gen 5
Nope just snatch and imprison
Also
Population bomb might actually work like triple axel
We learnt that it wasnt that it was always hitting 10 but it was hitting 10 a lot
If its like triple axel with it's 90% accuracy, you have roughly (rounded up) a 35% chance of hitting all 10 times
Which isnt exactly hard to get
Man
Im so used to kaphotics and the gang giving us like the full dump on whats in the game and how everything works in detail that the chaos of trying to figure everything out is so weird
this riddle stuff is so trashy
mood
(sorry if this sounds harsh but it had to be said)
the gen itself is probably fine
Especially because Khu is just
which makes me question things
a weird manchild
or is it because there's no other source of info but him
No other source for a LONG TIME

i still need to decide what mons i'm gonna use in my run
this is confirmed, and 90% with wide lens, which is kinda ridic
and equally funny when it kills itself into rocky helmet
honesstly just a really funny mon all around
meowscarada's signature goes hard
what base power is it overall counting crit again
is it just 70 * 1.5

NOW he says all of them
Maybe, I haven’t check
Yeah, but mass outbreaks being back makes that considerably less
nobody knows why people are finding tons of shinies in this game (without outbreaks)
, the odds apparently werent changed. People are just getting lucky
Who knows
Might be worth not applying the day 1 patch to see if it really is happening more often
Oh that is easy
Its cause of overworld spawning
Think of it like this
Normally a person would only go into so many wild battles right?
Well with overworld spawning that number is raised like tenfold
So cause people are "encountering" more mons than normal they are finding more shinies than normal
This isnt founting mass outbreaks ofc
Its why PLA shinies were also more common than normal
But its exacerbated by the fact that SV is one open giant area whereas PLA was multiple big areas
My goal is to into summer’s game and steal their shiny whooper
And then release it because it’s a fugly Pokémon
wonder if Protect Leftovers is going to return to competitive
If anything, i think Substitute's gonna become a lot more prominent
between scouting for Tera typing without downright losing against setup moves, and things like Kingambit
notes to not ask you for help evolving palafin
im thinking of testing that on shed tail orthworm
Alright you guys ready for my team?
Playthrough team ofc, not comp team
Rabsca
Orthworm
Bellibolt
Klawf
Galarian Slowbro (if available early enough, if not Overqwil or Grafaiai)
Flamigo
Oh shit, flamigo gets scrappy
115 attack, 90 speed okayish bulk
Looks like a scarf Pokémon to me
115 is a bit weak for a Scarfer isn't it
rabsca the psychic beetle right?
orthworm does cover your weakness to ground 🤔
same with flamigo
Do you think Iron Jugulis was inspired by DragonsFuckingCars

Idk but iron jugulus sounds like a pornstars name, if you know I watched stuff like that idk
A pelican vore Pokémon manifested, so it's not without precedent
Jugulis means throat, Iron Throat isn't as cool
In before day 1 patch makes the name Iron Throat
so about the shiny odds
better odds??? or they rounding down
seems to be just better odds
Lmao apparently Pawmot is so broken they're testing leppa berry with it
gliscor is kind again
poison heal + protect roost may as well be unkillable
Pawmot is totally going to AG by the end of the month, yeah?
Well probably December, but Pawmot is getting banished soon
They’ll just ban the move
Yea so even more reason to just ban the move
True
inherently everything is much more manageable in vgc
Yeah, I don't really consider Revival Blessing a VGC issue
yes
Good balance gamefreak
Torkoal stocks also going to the moon (again)
Arceus better not be VGC legal tbh
I like how Torkoal, Pelipper and Tyranitar are gonna be in every region now
The legends plate being in the game is NUTS
i doubt legends plate/arceus sees play tbh. The VGC ruleset will determine a lot going forward
The legends plate is fucking insane outside of pve
i heard legends plate makes no diff in actual pvp but idk
pawmot is not gonna be ag
In vgc TR teams might use rabsca over pawmot
Eviolite?
What of eviolite?
He’s asking what is the main benefit to rabsca
Also for VGC TR is it too much of a bulk problem for Farigiraf as TR setter?
Advantage would mainly be Armor Tail, especially since Fake Out can’t buffer turns or block the setup
Oh the big thing is not only does rabsca himself have tr and good coverage but he also has access to telepathy and revival blessing
Since we were bring up revival blessing, rabsca ends up being the better of the two very specifically under TR
Whats more TR as a playstyle tends to have a few key mons you attempt to keep alive and support abd revival blessing helps towards that sort of strat
Why specifically in vgc is less to do with vgc and more to do with the fact TR is just better in doubles
Perfect explanation
But yeah w e haven’t talked enough about some neat TR tricks that we get this gen
Wait you just reminded me
doesnt cetitan get slush rush
Yep
But why would you use that over thick fat + steel tera
Cetitan has potential for that sole reason, especially if they get ice spinner
belly drum + slush rush + snow defense boost funnies
Oh right it gets belly drum also
Hmm
I wonder if it will get snow warning as an HA
What’s cetitan’s offensive stats/speed like?
113 ATK and 73 SPD
sheer force, apparently
and yes, it seems it gets ice spinner
Ice spinner is physical yeah?
Ig it doesn’t really matter
Hmm will be interesting to see which thick fat steel tera Pokémon ends up being the best
Rn it’s extremely hard to deny appletun that title, but we have to wait and see what cetitan’s movepool ends up being
well you need a mon
thats otherwise good on its base form
because you dont want forced into narrow lines of play
bringing a mon thats only good with tera
more modes and such, yknow
Well the thing with tun is, it resists it’s only steel tera weakness in base form (ground), takes neutral from fire, but gets absolutely fucked by ice, so this is where I said mind games will be important. Setting up leech seed, apple acid, you can tera into recover, heavy slam for stab
There’s reasons as to why appletun is being talked about
Also For what it’s worth, 4x resist to electric in base form
It should in theory wall miraidon
Isn't miraidon also a dragon
Yeah, but you going to blind draco meteor into what is most likely a steel type tera appletun?
Being able to Terra into a type that resists a STAB doesn't mean you wall a mon
By that logic every mon walls every mon
See above, there’s other reasons appletun would wall it. Has a lot to do with how good thick fat + steel type tera does, tun’s movepool just compliments that combo even more
Cetitan it right there which is arguably the best slush rush user weve gotten not counting the gen 8 fossils
He slow tho >:[
73 speed with slush rush isn't that slow
^
Arxtozolt, probably the best slush rusher we ever got, enough so to make hail at least somewhat viable in gen 8 (alongside aurora veil)
Has a base speed of 55
If arctozolt can pull it off, cetitan can too
I kinda wish the Paradox Pokémon had unique abilities
Rather than just Protosynthesis
Yeah that's the main disappointing thing to me. They each should have had a unique abillity
like Great Tusk deserved Sand Stream
interesting
i wonder if convergent gyarados would have been like the alpha design for it where it was a leech instead of a sea serpent
Are they claiming the convergent species are the first convergent evos in Pokémon
The more interesting ones are the electric rodents
I mean they are probably related
oh i forgot toadscruel was a thing, adding them to my team def
Plusle and Minun I can see as related to Pikachu
Emolga and Pachirisu might be related
Dedenne is 100% related
I will accept this based on cheek colour alone
Here is a take tho
The ralts line
Is a convergent species unrelated to any of the humanoids
Just developed a similar bodyplan
Why's that
Different egg group from all the humanoids
Hinting they're not really related
Though they may be more supernatural leaning
I see
NOOOO this is the worst time line...
give me sea snake...
bro just standup
Bro is commited to the deep squat and I respect it
I thought about bug only
but orthworm isn't a bug
so i stopped thinking about it
This is pretty cool https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonScarletViolet/comments/yvoy9w/views_from_paldeas_highest_point/
you can fly?
glide, but ye
BIG NEWS:
A name of a potential DLC Pokémon has leaked. UNERUMINAMO ウネルミナモ.
This was registered by Nintendo in Japan along the rest of the Gen 9 Pokémon.
233
Centro is just some group of dudes compiling all the leaks. The drama is that Khu is a bitch who gets mad at him reposting his info.
Also annoying watermarks and in previous gens not a super trustworthy source
They kept Khu 🙃
So a dude who reposts the leaks gets banned, but the actual leaker remains

I'm deceased
Twitter be like...
tbh i would have liked if Khu got also banned. the dude just says the most weird shit ever
which one was WAIFU TIME!
my brain still can't get over how he described the hammer mon ...
literally just a cute ragdoll with a hammer
Khu: yes! Hardcore Waifu mon...
Khu called everything feminine a waifu
Including children
And paradox gallade

For those who wonder how insane snow is giving +1 def
0 Atk Victini V-create vs. +1 252 HP / 0 Def Abomasnow with an ally's Aurora Veil: 326-386 (84.8 - 100.5%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Victini V-create vs. +1 252 HP / 200 Def Abomasnow with an ally's Aurora Veil: 326-386 (84.8 - 100.5%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
why are both of those the same calc
one has neutral no investment victini, the other with max investment neutral on a bulkier abomasnow, with the same result?
Thats very simply cause youll end up with the same calc with those exact investments
ye, just found it funny
came upon another calc earlier where a ninetales survives life orb kartana smart strike or something
snow is fun
Yup lmao
Without any information on its stat spread, ability, and movepool, and only speculation as to what its type may be, there’s no real good way to speculate as to what partner is going to be good for it. However, if I had to guess, I’m not confident any of the starters are going to end up being the...
some of these could be alright
they say they're struggling with a decent iron treads set tho
What’s the gimmick@with the dolphin because I saw earlier one of its stats is like crazy as hell
Figured there was a trade off I wasn’t seeing
I also@know@basculin’s evo has a new move that’s pretty good. Something about it gaining 50 bp for every koed poke
It needs to switch out and then back in to use it in it's powered up form
