Oh my God I forgot about her weird ass hands
What's she do again
Tiny hands lady for anyone who hasn't seen it
oh i pulled one of those yesterday
I'm also just randomly sussy of anime art now cause of AI
stealing effect, jumpstart only
If you live in the us she’s like 70 bucks or something
the artist who made these has been working with wotc for 10 years now, i really doubt they'd just pivot to ai already
oh no I'm not accusing them of that
holy shit for real?
Anime is one of the styles ai can do that looks pretty close to its real counterparts
I just got that ptsd
Me when I pick between a force of will and this lady
She also needs a non-anime art
Most playable gorgon we've gotten in years
Maybe ever
Yeah ever, all the gorgons suck
Although again, we need the JMP22 tokens first
was otj vraska not playable
[[Kibo]], [[Lita, Mechanical Engineer]], and [[Daring Piracy]] all make a token that doesn't exist
Legendary Creature — Monkey Noble
: Each player creates a colorless artifact token named Banana with "
, Sacrifice this artifact: Add
or
. You gain 2 life."
Whenever an artifact an opponent controls is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control that's an Ape or a Monkey.
Whenever Kibo attacks, defending player sacrifices an artifact of their choice.
2/2
Legendary Artifact Creature — Artificer
Vigilance
At the beginning of your end step, untap each other artifact creature you control.

,
: Create a 5/5 colorless Vehicle artifact token named Zeppelin with flying and crew 3. (It has "Tap any number of creatures you control with total power 3 or more: This Vehicle becomes an artifact creature until end of turn.")
3/3
otj vraska was in a few golgari decks yeah?
Doesn't really have a home anywhere and I'm not sure where she'd wanna go
She was like splashable, but there's better graveyard hate
If I do bother to make a new commander deck it’s probably gonna be one of these
lowkey I just wouldn't play neerdiv just cause people would judge me for that art lmao
It’s got the word diver in it
people not familiar with this being the only print
i really don’t care about things like that, i survived being a traptrix player ill survive this
Slinza just seems kinda fun as gruul unga bunga
power to you
I also want a non-anime art of her so we can figure out what plane she's from
I can't tell where half the anime cards are supposed to be from
I only know Ozox is Innistrad because of his token
She's too "sexy" to be a Lorwyn Merfolk
They're all freaky fish people
True, but I'm guessing she's Ixalan then until we have a better art
Ixalan merfolk have the frills
ixalan merfolk have the frill manes, lorwyn merfolk have the tri-frill
Also rev is most definitely an orzhov member
so she'd fit in more to the lorwyn one as far as I can see
Yeah Rev is definitely Orzhov
Aphelia is golgari
Ozox I’m not sure on either
Plagon I don’t know either
Cleon's armor is weird
What plane is he from?
Imma assign Plagon to Cynette's plane
They get to do stuff on the Bad and Stupid Plane
She’s cedh viable
Taeko is Kamigawa
She’s a better grim hireling
I don't see it. She only makes half the treasures
Kreat is probably Boros?
where do you use her, najeela?
Gornog is Theros or Dominara
Najeela yeah
Psmellia and some of the other ones have Theros places in their name
Dionus is probably Dominara
Can't confirm tho because he could also be a Lorwyn elf
I’m gonna default most of the elves to dominaria until otherwise stated
dionus sounds too theros to not be theros
He's either llanowar or Lorwyn
He's 100% not theros tho
He's either llanowar or Lorwyn
Outfit is very Llanowar
Dionus has clothing similar to the dominarian elves yeah
But the only elves with horns I can think of are Lorwyn
We'd need an in-theme art to tell
Hurska is Eldraine
Shroofus is probably Dominara
Where’s evereth from?
Slinza is probably Ikoria
Everth's outfit and vampire design don't really match anywhere
dionus is from shandalar
TLDR: card advantage >>>>>>>> extra treasures
Like her name and parts of her outfit imply Ixalan
he appeared in the flavor text of [[manaweft sliver]] which is from shandalar
But she doesn't seem consistent to be an Ixalan vampire
Oh do Shandalar elves have horns then
She’s the wrong identity for ixalan
apparently
That too
Everth is confusing
Only other place I can see her is Fiora
Actually are there any fioran vampires?
There are not
i keep thinking that marchessa is a vampire
Where the fuck is she from then
i'm probably confusing her with olivia
she could be from innistrad
Although her color identity is consistent with Innistrad vampires
Her outfit and stuff don't feel very Innistrad tho
She might be from innistrad as a noble under Olivia
Iirc there's no other female house heads
yo she seems kinda fun though
other than a free sac outlet she's kokusho on crack potentially
Falkenrath is lead by that one guy from the precon
She’s infinitely worse than she reads unfortunately
Markov is Sorin and white alligned
is she?
Olivia leads Voldaren
And Stormkirk is Runo and Blue Alligned
Oh yeah she can't be Innistrad
Anje is the last Falkenrath
There is Maurer as a "rogue house" but it's lead by [[Strefan]]
Legendary Creature — Vampire Noble
Flying
At the beginning of your end step, create a Blood token for each player who lost life this turn.
Whenever Strefan attacks, you may sacrifice two Blood tokens. If you do, you may put a Vampire card from your hand onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. It gains indestructible until end of turn.
3/2
yeah tajuru is on zendikar
a lot of these characters previously showed up in flavor text of other cards
Welp that sucks
Would've gone 7-2 if they didn't have her
You just have to literally topdeck removal to answer her in draft, huh
I mean she is like what 7-8 mana?
She’s not as bad as the dragon and that’s at lower rarity
Drakuseth is def better
“Remove me or I will fold you like laundry”
I just drafted insane and that was the one thing preventing me
Drafted Loot, Arahbo, Celestial Mantle, the angel enchant, and 6 cats
[[Arahbo, the First Fang]] is ridiculously good in this draft
I played in prerelease and faced it and I was like… damn I really don’t want to be playing this right now and left the entire thing, like I had fun deck building but I’m not gonna stick around for it when my deck sucks and I had my dad to look after
The dragon I mean
Oh yeah if you can't out Drakuseth you just scoop
But I was popping the fuck off with Arahbo and the cat that gives out +1/+1 counters
It was game 3 and the dude top decked it when we were both out of gas
I drew lands 3 times in a row in a 15 land deck
Worst case scenario Arahbo is 3 mana for 4/4 in 2 bodies
Me looking at my card pool realising I had 7 playables in each colour and no good splash options
Oof
My first match up had bloom tender, quilled greatwurm and drakuseth
You could not have gotten me out of that room quick enough

Matt Mercer and Ben Brode, hell yeah
Bello is vehicle Bello
Sovereign + Test of Endurance is strange
I didn’t expect a deck like this to go for redundancy
This week we're joined by our patron Mark Cirillo. Mark has been a member of our highest tier on Patreon for a year and so this is his episode! Mark got to choose everything about this episode including the music, and the guests so today we’re also joined by Luca

GOLD SABERTOOT...
Ben Brode the GOAT
maybe they ran out of budget for the deck
Oh foundations broke [[Michiko Konda, Truth Seeker]]
Legendary Creature — Human Advisor
Whenever a source an opponent controls deals damage to you, that player sacrifices a permanent of your choice.
"Watch over my father. Tell him I'm safe, but I won't come home until I find out how to bring him back to his senses, and Kamigawa is again at peace." —Michiko Konda, last letter to General Takeno
2/2
She's REALLY strong now
how
It's your choice what they sacc now
oh sure
Probably a typo, should be their choice
But playing the card as written, she's BUSTED now
This was listed as a non-functional change lol
4 mana stone rain any time you attack me
Wait she gets around one ring. Modern all star
i aint playing that vs ring
Joking, but she's really strong now
@lusty trench @copper pecan she's from Licia's plane
Vampires there are Mardu aligned
It fits the outfit
And doesn't cause continuity issues like her being from Innistrad
Fumulus is Zendikar
Pol Jamaar is a mistform mage, making him Dominara
Other than the two I don't care about (Cynette and Plagon, who I'm placing in "Stupid beach plane") that leaves Ivora
Manifest Dread is still kicking ass
Are there different “metas” at different times of the day?
The games I played during the day were significantly harder/had more meta decks than the ones I faced just now tonight
Ah, i read that different decks have point values based on the cards used inside, and that the matches are created based off of similar point values
thats not real
not in constructed
in brawl yes
but not in standard
or any other competitive format
Ah my bad
So any victories in Standard are against whatever person was just next in queue?
Was it just banned? I saw CGB use it in a video earlier
i dont think i've seen anything about monstrous rage being banned
anything else to finish of my budget red aggro deck?
is 4 shock + 4 burst lightning + 4 lightning strike really necessary
that seems kind of excessive
I feel like you could be more aggressive with dropping lands
Get some additional card draw
Anyone know why the Marvel Abundant Growth is so expensive? Was it not a guaranteed bonus card?
I think my deck has 19 lands?
it's anything from the marvel pack and abundant growth is actually playable
I know but I thought the Groot cards were all guaranteed bonus cards
i have no idea mabye
i'm just trying to put together new deck
you probably shouldn't have 24 lands in a mono red aggro deck
i have 0 clue about this deck ngl
with your mana curve you should have 20
apparently it's banned in BO1 standard?
never mind im wrong
it's banned in alchemy though, idk why it's impacting standard
-4 mountain, -4 shock
trying to find info on a fanmade EDH format a friend was telling me about called Pilot
basically its 80 card decks, you have a creature and a vehicle/steed as your commanders. The catch is your commanders power has to exactly equal the crew/saddle cost of your second commander. EDH banlist, plus Sol Ring and Arcane Signet banned.
I saw a video about across my recommendeds on YT
Last night I did my first quick draft with Jumpstart
Super fun! But I wish I chose the vampire pack in retrospect so I could fill out my Orzhov vamp deck more
Foundations Draft is good, but I feel like the bombs are too bomby. Went 5-3 and my losses were because my opponents got Dreadhorde General, Sire of Seven Deaths, and Embercleave respectively
The Liliana player also had Skynight, Celestial Mantle, and Bloodthirsty Conquerer so I guess they walked into the freest 7-0 of their life
Congrats you drafted the 2 best cards in the set
I want to do a full draft soon. Is it the only way to earn gems?
For free yes
and add what?
[[slickshot show-off]]
another emberheart
Instant
Target creature gets +3/+0 until end of turn. When it dies this turn, manifest dread. (Look at the top two cards of your library. Put one onto the battlefield face down as a 2/2 creature and the other into your graveyard. Turn it face up any time for its mana cost if it's a creature card.)
"Scared, are you? Need a hug?"
[[felenous rage]]
No card found for “felenous rage”
I use [[Electrostatic Infantry]] in my monored burn deck
Not as good as other options, but it's an uncommon instead of a rare
ok
ill prob cut like 1 pump spell for one
cvause i think im on too many pump spells
prob the might
[[Cacophony Scamp]] is also uncommon, and combos well with pump spells
Especially Turn Inside Out
Creature — Phyrexian Goblin Warrior
Whenever Cacophony Scamp deals combat damage to a player, you may sacrifice it. If you do, proliferate. (Choose any number of permanents and/or players, then give each another counter of each kind already there.)
When Cacophony Scamp dies, it deals damage equal to its power to any target.
1/1
Sadge but expected, thank you
Is the mana curve suggested by WOTC (a few one drops, a lot of 2 drops, then less 3 drops, etc) the one I should typically stick with, or is it better to break that guideline for Arena BO1?
Your curve will depend on the tempo and speed your deck is targeting
Monored burn wants to play very fast
Every turn is vital
I see, so Aggro would have more one drops than a control deck
Yes
That makes sense, thanks!
Slower decks will instead have tools to control the game
Dragging it out until more lands get played
Then they win on a mix of card advantage and mana advantage (having high value, high cost cards to play in the late game)
you only need turn inside out
I'd cut Might of the Meek
You have enough non-Mice that it won't confer additional damage a significant amount of the time
Monstrous Rage also gives Trample while also pumping
i'd cut the entire deck its not good tbh
might of the meek at least cantrips but for that effect you actually just run [[crash through]]
aka its likely not worth it
Sometimes you just wanna steal one last win for your dailies
It's fine as a low investment option
Ahh thats how they'd do it. Reset everyone's collections to 0
But also, this doesn't seem feasible at all
Hell, 4p in Arena is still far from feasible iirc
im so fucking goood at this game
my internet kept disconnecting me
i was playing 1-2 turns behind every other match
i still got the 7 wins
chat I wanna step outside my comfort zone
what's a cheap UB deck for Standard or Pioneer
Nah, meta means Dimir
There's demons and flash in standard
Rn Dimir isn't doing much in pioneer
Areo are you getting into Magic now too?
why
its cheap fr irl play
🤷♂️
i couldnt seem to find anyhting else cheap enouhg
thats competetive
Ran into an interesting deck on Pioneer ladder last night
Focused on Enchantment creature synergies
and cheating out Abhorrent Occulus
I think it was mostly UB
but they also had Innocence and Glissa in there so
it was WUB, I think
How'd they play Glissa
Cheated out by a manifest dread proc
But they still had to flip it up
[[Glissa Sunslayer]]
Ohh
yeah I don't remember how
Weird
if its casual sure whatever
even then this list is far from good
I'll try replicating the deck after work
I've been interested in Abhorent Occulus since I saw it in Scryfall looking for Discover targets
like i love nemsis so much
but its ike 20$
and the other one
is also like 20$
the outlaw
But Discover is "casting," so you have to pay Occulus' bonus exile cost off Discover
so play mono red or gruul or boros without nemssis but slick shot
gruul seems cool
but manabase
I play Gruul on Arena
seems so fricking expensive
Granted, I play a less competitive version because I think Dinosaurs are cool
Unfortunately manabases will be what drives deck prices up
Basically true of every format for every non-monocolor deck
if you are going to be playing magic, the spending should be going to your lands
good mono color decks still run expensive lands to be viable
the only land i see mon red run
is the one
that uhhhh
i gives haste to mouse or smt
shows how poor mono red is right now
To be fair
Monored is almost entirely pigeonholed into being the hyper-aggro burn deck
where having your lands come in untapped is more important than anything else
It's less true for other monocolor decks
that one wasnt too much
i thouhgt
yeah its only like 5$
compared to like nemesit at 20%
How much do you feel comfortable spending on Magic rn
idk
my thing is like
i wanna get a cheap deck that wont like implode
so i can try a local seehow I like it
and if I enjoy
spend more for a mroe competent deck
I'm asking because there are important game pieces that will enhance the variety and strength of your decks
that may be significantly expensive for you
monored aggro is a deck that is built to sneak wins on a (relative) shoestring budget
you can build better versions of it
it's never completely incompetent
but you probably won't be favored to win in any matchup
and your decision making will be very streamlined
They need to just reveal this whole deck and stop drip feeding this lol
so shjould i try something else
idk
Triskadekaphile, #11
You had ONE JOB Wizards
Yeah triskaidekaphile should've been #13
If you want a deck that always has a shot at winning even with a massive budget difference, build monored
If you want something with a little more meat on the gameplay bones, you could maybe try a monowhite deck, or a two color deck that uses the worse cheaper two color lands
what do i cut?
[[hired claw]]
Pretty popular in standard burn rn
Mana sink if you're bricked
Hits the 3 damage target relatively easily
yeah I see that now, I guess scamp was too vulnerable
Looks fine to me
How much does Moxfield say the deck and sideboard cost?
130
which feels high
Only suggestion I'd make is swapping one of your creature playsets (not sure which one) for Boltwave
But that's $3 each on TCGplayer
but idk
130 is low for an mtg deck
Yeah
You won't be able to go much lower without a significant drop in card quality
well no
its more just like
the math to me dosent add to 130
but mabye it does
🤷♂️
no it does
ignore me

and than lets say i like this could i move to either like gruul prowess, mono red with screaming, boros something easily from this list?
relatively, yes
you've got the mouse package
The most expensive part would be getting the good dual lands
But I think the dual lands in standard aren't too bad
ok
also
is there a good video to elarn about sideboarding
because it seems a bit diff from ygo sideboarding
I'm sure this is still relevant

Learn To Be A Bet...
it's not that different
yeah im realizing that now it just seemed weirder to me cause i dont fully understand magic
also going first and second dosent matter too much it seems in mtg
like to the point you side diff things for both
uhh definitely does
it does
going first is always extra mana
oh
and you play quite differently
the tempo advantage of going first is near-universal
its hard to explain
its not like your siding in something like evenly
if you know your going seocnd
There aren't hard second cards in MTG, yes
yeah
im curious
is there a certian target for [lithomantic barrage]
cause it seems like its in side for a reason
i just dont know all the decks so i dont know what the exact targets are
[[Lithomantic Barrage]]
i understand forge same with witchstalkers frenzy
Less so a specific target card
and moreso a card that is very efficient when you face white or blue decks
deals with planeswalkers
i see
cause all my main deck burn is 3 or lower outside manadumping burst lightning
so if there are decks where i need to hit bigger threats i side in the biiger damage
yeah so your deck loses hard to anything big
forge is for decks that spam the shit out of boardwipes *creature
cause it will keep being a threat
if someone puts sheoldred down you have to dump resources not killing your opponent into killing their big guy
so like if we look at the meta shares of decks rn
barrage hits a fairly wide spread
it dosent hit archfiend of the dross :(
also what do i do against atraxa
die?
kill before they board
basiclaly
Pay them to not kill you
true
yeah
you win fast or eat ass
but yeah you're playing aggro you should be able to kill before they ramp to atraxa
is there no good cheap red enchantment removal?
cause looking at some decks cards like
temp lockdown
leyline binding
but i guess we have forge for that?
Actually
I don't know if red gets any in-color enchantment removal off the top of my head
they have some artifact destruction
and thats just domain ig
doesn't look like there's any red ones
cheap removal/control is the counter to your deck anyway
even if you spend mana undoing the removal (if you even can)
you're spending precious turns not killing the other guy
fair enough
you gotta do a little hoping they don't have it
and that your deck's speed means they won't have time to draw into it
Legendary Planeswalker — Ajani
+1: You gain life equal to the number of creatures you control plus the number of planeswalkers you control.
−2: Create a 2/2 white Cat Soldier creature token named Ajani's Pridemate with "Whenever you gain life, put a +1/+1 counter on Ajani's Pridemate."
0: If you have at least 15 life more than your starting life total, exile Ajani, Strength of the Pride and each artifact and creature your opponents control.
Loyalty: 5
Better version of this article
Which also has the concerning line of:
thats... fine? i dont see a big deal about this
more concerning is trying to put commander on a whole different client
thats just gonna be stupid
Oh that'd kill both clients
not really but it'd be incredibly annoying
But this reads as exec talk for "the magic IP doesn't matter and the crossovers will be the focus moving forward"
good
after this recent controversey i never wanna see anything regarding the original magic world
I mean, you can see that slowly killing the identity of it until it's another pile of corporate crossover slop is a bad thing right?
This reads like the plan is to fully go into fortnite mode soon
as long as the rules of magic remain good, i dont care about the coat of paint
Take notes
that dosent look like monored
it's better
Azorius control
best way to learn magic
It will teach you how to prioritize effects
learn how to manage holding mana up versus cashing out on your turn
and it'll teach you how to close out in late game scenarios
but also
no one will like you
It’s actually esper control tyvm
But yes, control decks in mtg are usually the most skillful decks
Think Runick on crack
red doesn't get enchantment removal at all
[[Silent Hallcreeper]]
Enchantment Creature — Horror
Silent Hallcreeper can't be blocked.
Whenever Silent Hallcreeper deals combat damage to a player, choose one that hasn't been chosen —
• Put two +1/+1 counters on Silent Hallcreeper.
• Draw a card.
• Silent Hallcreeper becomes a copy of another target creature you control.
1/1
Annoying little bugger
i played that in limited once and it won the game every single time i drew it
The card goes hard if unanswered
Issue is, who isn’t running enchantment hate in constructed rn
It was part of the deck I faced last night
enchantment creature too
procs Innocence
There's this 1/4 that gives all your enchantment creatures deathtouch and hexproof
They can't remove all your enchantments
[[cease desist]]
Says who
normal people: enchantment creature deck with a manifest dread subtheme with a potentially huge upside in Abhorrent Occulus
me: but what if we coco for it instead
I wonder if they'll release future commander precons with codes for this
That's how they get you
hah
Nah, can't have it be a good deal
very funny
Pokemon has done that for 10+ years and WOTC has had all the time in the world to have arena or MTGO codes in products
They'll expect you to double dip
they'll do it once
first hit from the dealer is free
I think one year the standard starter deck did it
But then it's never been done since
like I said
first hit from the dealer is free
I'm pretty excited for the set lineup next year
Aetherdrift despite ||low precon amount|| is neat and has me curious on if we're getting "vehicle partner" along with how artifact planeswalker equipment works, Tarkir leaves a good chance at even more Alesha and we know it has ||5 commander precons which is slightly more then average||, Final Fantasy as an UB makes me hopeful for a new token precon but otherwise is cool, Edge of Eternities at the very least can help make alien typal a possibility, Spiderman feels the most meh out of the ones we know.
Surprisingly been learning via Sultai. Its such a fun combo. Would love some mpre Commanders in the Sultai combination if y’all have any recommendations
a set having a low precon count thank fucking god
Mothman
or Toad Rider
Oh: ||Star Wars is UUB 2025 apparently.||
Is that announced or dirtsheet scuttlebutt?
who knows but everyone is guessing it will be since they announced that space set
Not announced, leakerinos
Dutch leak about Aetherdrift: ||Each Play Booster and Collector Booster contains a special vehicle card with a chance of an interplanar variant, and there is also a chance of an exclusive Showcase Racing card.||
Wonder if more people will try Pilot, the Commander variant, when Aetherdirft drops
what's pilot?
You pick a vehicle and a creature (your pilot) who can exactly crew your vehicle
the color identities of those two together make up the color identity of your deck
commander damage is dealt by your vehicle only when it is crewed by your pilot
if your vehicle or pilot is dual faced, only the vehicle/pilot side can be cast
memory serve me right
Oh SurisMTG did a video on it, I'll give it a watch later
what if they like retroactively give codes to already bought precon a
that isn't possible right
not practically, I'd imagine
ok
god thugs is making me wanna buy some control deck over cute mouses
nvm control decks are expensive
Make the mice deck
ok
i will
i just wish i could get the nemesis card
it's so cool
but it's so expensive
Mothman was what got me into Sultai but I’ll look into Tatsunari
Making a big frogge
t1 burst target mouse
oh i already fucked up
i ened to think about stopping my oponent
imstill in this mindset of like
i need to play my gameplan
this is def gonna be a weird hting
this game isnt so linear in either direction but they kept a full grip otp
with magic over yugioh
ah i lose
they jus hav better cards
than my shitty budgetversion
and my unoptimal t1 play
@steady onyx my issue with nemesis is
it's not worth the wildcards imo
unless you're building like uh
idk i was like
those are too expenive to build as deck
wait
this is bllshit
i never get a chance to act???
they just get prio on summon
did you just learn about mtg prio lol
that aggrivated me
yeah
they had lilliana on stack
i wanted to strike her
but i couldnt
lol
that doesnt work
To ensure you get some value from planeswalkers before they can be removed
and from activated abilities
Am I missing any cards in standard that gift permanents/cards with downsides
dross?
hm maybe
"On summon" and "On res" are things you have to get out of your brain when playing mtg
Anything cool in the Foundations Arena Jumpstart
Got some draft tokens burning in my digital pocket
fair bit
we love trample in this household
also Phyrexian Obliterator is still annoying to play around
I was in a ten, twelve turn game with this monoblack starter deck for game 1
because he had Obliterator out and I had to play around it
okay time to make Pioneer Simic CoCo for the most mediocre payoff
ok this golgari deck fucks hard
brain check
when a facedown creature is turned face up
is that considered entering
no
grazie
I love face down mechanics, especially manifest dread
Makes me feel like I’m playing Yugioh haha and cheating out monsters or triggering face up effects like with Bubble Smuggler
Getting annoyed at the sheer volume of removal spells in standard
About to craft 4 [[Saint Elenda]] and play Lifegain and call it a day
Legendary Creature — Vampire Cleric
Lifelink
When Saint Elenda enters, conjure a card of your choice from Saint Elenda's spellbook into your hand. You may cast that card this turn without paying its mana cost.
At the beginning of your end step, if you gained life this turn, create an X/X white Avatar creature token, where X is the amount of life you gained this turn.
4/7
Not this one. Whatever her standard one is (why does she have like 4 very similar cards from recent printings)?
What do you mean, isn’t playing against the threat of constant removal FUN?
There was one game I played where someone destroyed all my lands
I was actually pissed, which usually doesn’t happen in non-YGO games
But yeah, I’ve added a lot more counter spells to all my blue decks and hand rips to my black decks
I got a lot farther with my Simic dread deck than Orzhov vampires probably because the ramp in Simic is insane and Occulus is just a fantastic card for dread decks
the 4 mana one?
Yeah, she's got hexproof from Instants
All 4 of the main removal spells can't hit her
[[Elenda Saint of Dusk]]
Legendary Creature — Vampire Knight
Lifelink, hexproof from instants
As long as your life total is greater than your starting life total, Elenda gets +1/+1 and has menace. Elenda gets an additional +5/+5 as long as your life total is at least 10 greater than your starting life total.
"You have learned nothing in my absence."
4/4
Unfortunately she is not protected from Savage Stomp
I mean, sure
But rn standard is on 12+ removal spells PER DECK
Elenda is probably pretty solid because she's able to avoid that shit
makes you wonder
how much removal is instant versus sorcery or "when enters" enchantments
There's no good sorcery speed removal that isn't boardwipes rn
And the only enchantment that sees play is [[Nowhere to Run]]
Oh lame the third Aetherdrift plane is Muraganda. 3/3 on planes that needed proper visits and are gonna be wacky races instead
I wanted a post-Bolas Hazoret-lead Amonkhet set for a while and it's gonna be "haha remember the fast and furious movies"
it's time to isekai spiderman into amonkhet
You'll be able to live that dream in standard in like 6 months
not the craziest world he's ended up in
I’ve also seen Saved By Ghosts and Trapped in the Screen
Granted I’m in Silver
So that may be jank
Trapped is a less powerful Nowhere imo
At least Nowhere also takes away Hexproof
Trapped just sits there
Trapped is also just worse Sheltered by the Ghosts
Yo Wacky Races UB? Sign me up. Jace as Dick Dastardly

Doesn't hit nearly as well as the classic tutorial series
sucks all the vods for it have to be found through someone who has the links, ANCIENT video series
Just draw the out
Unironically you can probably print a 3 mana 20/20 vanilla and it's fine
Wouldn't wanna do that to my boy Gigantosaur
But
is this the level of copium we've gotten to in standard
me when there's a 2 mana haste enabler
If it's a vanilla that's still fine
it's probably too much of a "have the answer right now or you lose" card
I feel like it's also important to note that this card can't do damage on its own
I mean, they'd never print a 3 mana 20/20 vanilla, but I think they could
I think you're asking yourself "can someone survive if a 3 mana 20/20 is on the board" and not "is there anything positive about having a potential 3 mana instakill creature"
they could also print a 3 mana planeswalker that says "after one plus, the ultimate makes you literally win the game"
what's the point in saying this
I'm just saying Mistmeader isn't as scary as he looks other than the 0 mana lol
He dies to doom blade, path, go for the throat, and shot the sheriff. He's balanced
"other than the 0 mana" isn't a sentence in mtg
Yeah the 0 mana is what makes this roborosewater territory
Actually with all the wacky shit in roborosewater, is this draftable?
I think I'd rather take Squag Clones
Damn I didn’t know my creatures were like that
this feels like a prozd skit
Yeah the + is genuinely pretty solid
Okay...
No that's stupid
Why was this not #20 and also why was it 2 wincons
Curse this secret lair precon for finding a loophole
Really, a ribbit sequel?
Oh ya know what's worst
why is 13 not triskaidekaphile
Nah 13 should've been her and toad should've been 20
yes I fully agree, thats why I said it's worst. 13 being 20toad means triskaidekaphile isn't
[[Elsha of the Infinite]]
Legendary Creature — Djinn Monk
Prowess (Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, this creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.)
You may look at the top card of your library any time.
You may cast noncreature spells from the top of your library. If you cast a spell this way, you may cast it as though it had flash.
3/3
Fill your deck with cost reducers and cantrips
Elsha is probably your best bet for storm stuff
Your storm colours are primarily red and blue
The best storm deck is actually [[kraark]] and [[sakashima]]
No card found for “kraark”
[[Kraark]]
No card found for “Kraark”
They're better for generic storm stuff, yeah
This card is based
Holy
He’s dead
But I think Elsha is cooler and way more fun tbh
[[kraark the thumbless]]
Legendary Creature — Goblin Wizard
Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, flip a coin. If you lose the flip, return that spell to its owner's hand. If you win the flip, copy that spell, and you may choose new targets for the copy.
Partner (You can have two commanders if both have partner.)
"Double or nothing."
2/2
[[sakashima, faces]]
Legendary Creature — Human Rogue
You may have Sakashima of a Thousand Faces enter as a copy of another creature you control, except it has Sakashima of a Thousand Faces's other abilities.
The "legend rule" doesn't apply to permanents you control.
Partner (You can have two commanders if both have partner.)
3/1
Yuni said he wants to replicate a miracle deck
Like a miracle rogue deck
And miracle rogue primarily wins through non-deterministic storm combos
Prep coin
I play big guy and I punch face
Except it’s 4 big guys and it’s turn 1
And you are dead

Here, let me show you one of the best cards in commander Yuni
Can’t really name any stompy decks that plop big guys turn 1
[[jeska’s will]]
I’m still talking about miracle rogue
I just mean with giants
If you want to play a deck actually like miracle rogue you gotta make a non deterministic storm deck mostly with cantrips + cards like [[kiln fiend]] which we have a lot of now
It’s really fun to draw through a deck and just plop like 4 8/8 vanillas on 2
Or [[young pyromancer]]
Sickle are you familiar with the demon seed
Yes
Is there an mtg equivalent
You also got prep sprint with treasure cruise
Well there isn’t an mtg card that always starts in your opening hand
Unless you count a commander
How does demon seed work?
Well I meant wincon esc
Any damage you take (from your cards) is redirected at your opponent
So say a card says pay 3 life to draw a card
There's [[Stuffy Doll]]
[[Auntie Blyte]]
And [[Phyrexian Vindicator]]
Does this tickle any fancies
But all of these require the creature to take the damage
Yeah no what I like about seed is that shooting myself in the head kills the opponent
This is close
Not that I know of
Ig [[Deflecting Swat]]?
But it's once
Yeah this is cool
We have the ever so famous [[Death’s Shadow]]
But you can’t self trigger this idt?
You can, it just says a source of damage
With extra turn spells, and stuff to up your spells for turn count
But it's a single source
Yeah but it deflect to the controller right
The plan is
Which would be you
You play monored
Oh right it does
Unless you take control of the opponent t
You punch yourself in the face a lot
Yeah, you would deflect damage from yourself to yourself
see what I did there?
I don’t want to have a big guy kill the opponent, I want to kill myself and the opponent dies
There's [[Divine Deflection]]
Are you familiar with big priest
But this card is kinda dog shit
Wait
Wait why are you guys recommending pure jank
This is not a real card
[[Ad Nauseam]]
Im gonna jump
That's not the combo they're looking for tho
Stuffy Doll?
And the opponent dies from it
They're trying to translate a hearthstone combo where they deflect self damage to the opponent
Divine Deflection is the closest
The best you got is genuinely Stuff Doll effects
But you'd have to pay X=50 or whatever
Or Infect
Vindicator and Stuffy Doll are fine for it too
Infecting yourself to build up a kill that way
Legendary Creature — Human Warrior
Haste

,
: Target creature you control fights another target creature. This ability costs
less to activate if it targets two creatures you control.
If a creature you control being dealt damage causes a triggered ability of a permanent you control to trigger, that ability triggers an additional time.
1/5
But that’s for your creatures
Aunty Blyte is probably his best bet for a self-damage payoff in the command zone
Outright damaging yourself to kill your opponent's is not really all that viable in Commander let alone possible
Yeah the closest is the two deflecting cards
I dont think we’re looking for viability
And they're... Kinda dogshit
Taking a ton of self-damage to win is very popular
So yeah sickle, are you familiar with big priest
But not quite the same
I want to play 10 mana guys on 2
Also worth noting: Hearthstone only has the 1 opponent and no instant speed interaction
5 times
I think Yuni is coming here bc of the announcement of a commander client
The more expansive the better
I am
[[Ghalta]]
Multiple cards match “Ghalta”, can you be more specific?
Strategies that would work in HS probably don't work in commander
Ok so
Oh piss off
Ramp is playable in commander, especially in more casual tables
Well yes im aware of that, but I can look for things that are similar in concept/playstyle
You can easily get there on turns 2-3 with making a ton of huge creatures
[[Selvala, Veteran Explorer]]
I'm not sure who your best bet for casual ramp is
Any landfall deck?
Wrong Selvala deck
Non-combo Zaxara maybe?
Something like that, yeah
[[Selvala Heart of the Wilds]]
She is reasonably castable on turn 1 or 2
Unironically new Loot seems pretty decent for big ramp
And then you can make too much mana to know what to do with
Exuberant Explorer
Legendary Creature — Beast Noble
You may play an additional land on each of your turns.

,
: Look at the top six cards of your library. You may reveal a creature card with mana value less than or equal to the number of lands you control from among them and put it onto the battlefield. Put the rest on the bottom in a random order.
1/4
ew lol that card is not a huge creature producer
selvala is way closer to what yuni would want there
He ramps, is relatively easy to cheat, and drops big guys (RNG dependent)
big guys as you pay 6, look at top 6, and wiff bc u have 4 lands in play and everything revealed was 5+ mana
Yeah I'm just trying to think of dedicated "ramp" commanders
oh yeah no-merit just reminded me
was gonna make a speculation list on new mechanics in aetherdrift
Are there any big guys who get more big guys
Yeah of course
Who get more big guys
Who get more big guys
And it’s just infinite guys
That are big
Selesnya Selvala is funnier because you can create an impossible gamestate and piss off judges
Preferably with an actual wincon somewhere
[[Zaxara]]
I wouldn't recommend Zaxara
Ik you can slap on freed from the real
[[Selvala, Explorer Returned]] and [[Panglacial Wurm]] creates an irreconcilable board state
i mean we know exactly saddle and thats about it
What’s the issue here
Am noob
you cast it from deck
So Selvala can be activated at instant speed
it has a lot of rules issues
Resolving it is a nightmare
best not to think about it because it will never ever be relevant
Just in general
While you're casting Panglacial Wurm using the mana from Selvala, you can change the top card
Ignore Panglacial
Which will result in the mana no longer being correct
It's pointless and not a good card
Yeah Panglacial is an awful card
On Selvala
It's just a funny mistake card they're never printing again and the Selvala ruling is funny
Oh this is based
Excellent card to ramp to with Selvala as she produces "More Guys"
Selvala then taps for 12 mana
And you can keep casting huge guys and drawing more cards
Yeah that sounds fun
[[The Great Henge]]
This feels like a winmore card
But maybe it’s good here
It isn't

in its mana cost, create a 0/0 green Hydra creature token, then put X +1/+1 counters on it.
