i get that it looks powerful because we're all still early game, but once we get actual proper gear and levels on people, that damage is gonna look more like it should, which is respectable chip damage, not a main dps option

Only other rouguelike I like is slay the spire, and there at least you can upgrade stuff pretty frequently and the encounter rooms give stuff like free upgrades, swapping cards, etc.

When I break I deal an extra dmg based on the element that broke the opponent and break effect does increase that dmg
