For singles ||feraligatr's typing is amazing, water/dragon just has historically been an amazing type, his attack is ridiculously high and his access to dragon dance is great, biggest problem for him in singles is his move pool is pretty limiting, even if we consider the most likely scenario of it getting strong jaws, it would still be missing a good stab for dragon and no biting move for water (a similar problem mega sharpedo has)||

||I didn't play legends Arceus, so idk how much of this battling system is taken from there, but I personally like it.

Mechanically, battles being 3 dimensional and in real time gives depth that the mainline games don't have, which has been really fun to mess around with.

Narratively this game is better than most of the other mainline games because it can actually focus on telling a contained story rather than being an entire region and everything within.

Lumiose as a map is sprawling and huge and actually takes time to explore every part which I haven't finished yet but I enjoy seeing all of the random Pokemon in each place, and the map has plenty of things to do or places to explore for whatever reason.

Some of the soundtrack is also just really good to vibe to and do whatever

Biggest gripe is alpha pokemon existing in wild zones when I just want to train pokemon 😭 not be hunted down 😭

I miss abilities a little(it's really not that big tho). It's also minor compared to the other ways battling has changed and improved in my opinion.

That's all so far I think? I haven't tried online stuff yet, but I've spent a bunch of time catching everything in every wild zone and training it to lvl 30 so I havent had much time for that||

I've been kinda just battling by spamming all my moves and waiting for cooldown and i think thats dragging my enjoyment of the game a bit

You pokemon will follow you when you aren't targeting anything, you can physically dodge some moves like that or by getting out of physical attack range like that.

Idk if there's an actual dodge mechanic that like would randomly happen
