Choccy presented an idea on trying to level up the Wailmer via the Daycare by just walking a whole lot, and using a rare candy once that's done. But it's kinda a grey area; Technically I never used it in battle but I did give it an item

Most everything else... eh.
A lot of them also just seem either drastically different (Like say, the jump from Electabuzz to Electivire, or Yanma to Yamega), or just look like nothing much has changed (Tangela to Tangrowth, for instance)
Not really a bad thing, mind, but I seriously wonder who thought Yanma, a rather adorable dragonfly would evolve into this prehistoric monster
