#Made it to lower orbit in Kerbin, seems like adding engines and boosters don't make me go further

I made a rocket that managed to get into low orbit in Kerbin, but adding more propulsion gives the same result, as if the own weight of the boosters cancelled their own propulsion, giving off the same result

That's exactly what happens.

Umm, I still need help on how to improve it :P

Make each stage ad light as possible.

#

Upper stage needs high ISP propulsion as possible. TWR doesn't matter very much, it can even be way below 1 and you can still get places. It will just require longer burns.

#

For lower stages, ISP isn't as important, but thrust does. Because you need TWR > 1 to lift you up from the surface.

Hmm

#

What is ISP and TWR again?

ISP: Specific impulse
Basically the efficiency of the engine.

TWR: Thrust to Weight ratio
How much thrust you have in relation to how heavy the rocket is.

Don't worry if you end up realizing you can't lift up an uber ship in one stage, when it gets too big you have to start thinking about lifting it up in pieces and putting it together in orbit. 😃

Aighty, thanks :)

You’ve just run headlong into “the tyranny of the rocket equation”: adding more mass means you need more fuel, which adds more mass, which needs more fuel, which needs more engines, which add more mass and need more fuel…

It’s easy to overbuild and end up with a heavy monstrosity that’s a pain to launch, but building something as light as possible and using the most efficient engines available (both in terms of ISP and mass) will get you further in the long run.

you get fat wide things with big rockets that have smaller rockets on the side and those fall off once they're done and then you get to space with -999,999 on your budget

#

seriously though that's one of the best ways of doing it especially when you've decided you don't want to launch 3 separate rockets to then assemble your stuff in orbit and when you've decided you don't care about what it costs to get it up there

I prefer realistic solutions.
