@simple latch my idea for a rover:

■ Have a main rocket that Brings you to a stable orbit of another Planet

■ have a secondary rocket that is attached on the head of the main rocket

■ this rocket Contains a Rover + all you need to land smoothly

■ Then you Land and decouple the throttle and the Rover Lands smoothly with some boosters

Probably the least efficient way but that might work
