#Relocate Great Library Wonder in the Technology Tree

Not sure if anyone else feels the same, but I feel like great library is introduced way too late in the antiquity tech tree. It seems only civs with high science have any chance at snagging the wonder. The devs stated in the recent update video that the wonder was there to help people focus on improving their science in their games. In past Civ games it was introduced quite early and it made sense that way, when you would start up a new game you had to make a decision if you were wanted to try to be ahead in science by getting great library or maybe go for something else instead. Now if you were able to get great library say at writing mastery then it would prove to be a more powerful and useful wonder and really let you see its impact. This concern with this wonder was brought up by the OneMoreTurn YouTube channel and I kind of agree. I’d like to see civilizations that aren’t science strong have a shot at getting it and not only the science civilizations and leaders. Think about like how Mundo Perdido is a good way to get science mid game antiquity. Maybe it would be too strong early on. I mostly play on diety and I found it pretty difficult to build even with a science focused leader and civ. What do you guys think. Please let me know your thoughts on this. I’m all ears.

I can see your point a bit. I’ve only played two games since the update and managed to get it the first play through. I wasn’t able to get Mathematics researched in my second play through and I believe it was the mastery to mathematics that unlocks it

I'm a bit confused Caden. Wouldn't putting it earlier in the tree have the same result where civs and leaders with science advantage still grab it before other non-science civ/leaders?

I don't think comparing the Great Library with Mundo Perdido is very helpful either. To me, the bigger limiting factor is having a city with a lot of tropical tiles to make it worth it.

I like the Great Library as is, I think I'd just prefer it to give +1 science on specialists on science buildings.
