I enjoy Civ 7 but one of the features I miss is being able to trade directly with other leaders for gold, resources, cities, great works, etc. which had strategic depth.

At the very least, I think leaders should be able to trade gold and influence, whether it's direct trade or peace treaties. Great Works could work too but probably should have a limit to prevent snowballing legacies too quickly.

There might be ways to exploit AI with it but in my opinion that just means the AI should be improved to make better deals just as they currently do in peace deals.

I also miss being able to trade and support my friends in multiplayer games and am pretty sure some competitive players would enjoy this feature.

This mod shows it's already possible and works fine with AI: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3510262431

I don't mind having limits like only being able to trade conquered settlements with allies. It'd still really help with the issue of allies getting different cities from war in suboptimal locations.

I agree, but I’m fine making these abilities (resources, yields, great works, etc) unlocks so that they aren’t automatic for everyone for the entire game.
