#Why do I need to select the tile for repairing buildings?

There can only be one of each building in a settlement. I will never, ever have a choice of which monument to repair in a settlement so why this unnecessary step?

More clicks is not fun. The opposite, actually. And it's a risk factor for repetitive strain injury.

Also, please, please, please let me decide when I'm finished with the city menu instead of the game closing it for me. I don't want to repair just one farm, get kicked out of the city screen and then have to navigate back to it to repair the other tile improvements. An option to disable auto-close city menu after choosing production.

If you didn’t select people would complain you are repairing tiles on the wrong side of a city in cases of partial invasion

Ok that's fair about rural improvements but the point the OP made about urban is still valid.

Bridges for urban. Still, would be nice if there was a bit of code that checked for duplicates and only asked if it found some.

Yeh they could make it work like pillaging where if there's only 1 valid option it auto selects it for you.

Reducing repetitive strain is important! And if you don't think it affects you, it really just hasn't affected you yet. The game definitely shouldn't force you to select a tile if there is only 1 valid choice.

there are some Mods that help with this.
https://forums.civfanatics.com/resources/auto-repair-restore-your-city-instantly.31936/ (I haven't personally used this one)
OR this one
https://forums.civfanatics.com/resources/city-hall.31946/ (I highly recommend this one)
It provides one-click repairs along with a bunch of other helpful UI improvements in the settlement window
