I've another post in the general tab about losing seven units over an age transition even though I had room for all in two fleet commanders. I thought I'd go back to the save files and try and change things to maybe alter that outcome - only to find that ALL autosaves from the previous age were gone. I have observed that the age transition system is optimized to make starting a game in a later age easier - at the expense of perhaps smoother transitions from an earlier age. That's why the turn numbers reset. Loss of autosaves though is a prime example of where this is a huge problem.

This bit me too, and they should definitely fix it. The save are moved to a different folder though and you can restore them.

Then they should make saves' browser - BG3 has separate save 'folder' for each character you play with
It could have separate folder for each age playthrough 🤔

It's also very annoying to try to settle a game on the multiplayer age transition lobby. The save is either final turn of last age or first of the next… why kick us out to the lobby if it ain't gonna let us save there.
