Pistols aren't THAT good, but they're also not that bad!
The CE Tactical has a surprisingly amazing headshot DPS, and the V11 Punch is a beast overall with low recoil, good aim assist and very consistent damage.
(Unfortunately, the Magnum really is the contender for the worst weapon in the game along with the Repeater, with its extremely bad bodyshot damage output, high recoil, low range, and low aim assist.)
I'd like to use pistols more, but they have many poor base stats I want to be fixing up with mods.
Unfortunately, they have very few mods available in the armory, and high-quality pistol mods seem astoundingly rare in loot pools.
I am surprised there are no Traxus nodes that unlock pistol mods either!
This leaves their only consistent source being tool carts, or the starting pistol from a Rook game, which will only be of green quality.
As an anecdote, in 200 hours I've only looted a thermal scope for a pistol ONCE, and that was from a supply drop, which is a risky and very unrewarding event.
Compared to the power level of any other weapon with a thermal scope attached to it, this rarity seems inordinately punishing.
I feel like part of the issue is also that the CE Tactical has a large amount of unique magazine mods, which dilutes the loot pool.
For a future update I'd love to see pistol mods available in the Armory, perhaps from Traxus, a major buff to the Magnum, and a liiitttle something for the CE Tactical to set it apart just a bit more, if it's going to have this many magazines.
