Shotgun nerfs were always going to happen because the devs wanted a balanced gun play for short to mid range. The WSTR was just too good in that role when other options were supposed to be inconsideration. Mainly SMG's and pistols.
I think I am okay with this, but we'll have to wait and see.
It probably depends on how much hp purple and blue shields will have after taking two hits, and how stack overflow or maybe sucker punch play with it.

The CE side arm probably needs a little buff. Magnum maybe a little bit more rate of fire. V11 while strong doesn't dominate all encounters. Balanced gun play means that all guns are good for certain situations and not just 1 gun doing 90% of the work like the WSTR

if you're not on outpost/cryo, I'd probably suggest something that can shoot to 40+ though. volley or m77 are generally the go-tos

As a nerf to the gun, bit of a shame. But as a buff to the other shotguns, it's great
using another shotty would be a temporary fix anyway because once the wstr has been successfully nerfed enough (that is, 0 damage and makes no sound in case it scares someone) the complaints will just start rolling in for the others
As a new player, it does kinda suck to die to a WSTR, and that dynamic isnât gonna change after the update, I feel (most new players only have grey / green shields)
Iâve been playing for almost a week, and I just got my first WSTR in Dire Marsh, but Iâve probably died to a WSTR in Perimeter, at least a few times
But thatâs neither here nor there, my goal is simply to adapt to the changes, also peopleâs builds and the weapon usage will adapt to whatever nerfs / buffs occur, so I donât think itâs the end of the world, and the WSTR will still definitely wreak havoc in specific setups / scenarios

Bully basically dominates (or dominated) any range less than assault rifle's maximum, and even then, mods can push its reach pretty far. I think the copperhead and brrrt are good, but they just don't have the capability for range and overall versatility the bully does. The brrrt especially suffers from a lower mag size and long reload time that can't easily be improved (since it has no mag mod slot).

This kind of depends on the battery charge efficiency of the weapons you take in. If you have a high enough tier ammo backpack or background process chip mod, then you can swap between your weapons without needing to ever reload (I did this with a V66 lookout and a V85, both with background process, and a prestige ammo pack in cryo and never reloaded once)
With none of those, i expect to use a stack of batteries every 3-5 minutes in an average raid

ItĘťs got a decent capacity @ base with 4.5% drain, thatĘťs about 20 shots. You can win a 1v1 in just under half a mag.

Yep, Iâm so glad itâs only 50 credits, feels like itâs super accessible for any new player trying to kit themselves out on a budget and still be competitive
IĘťve been doing a lot with the CE tac to find out where itĘťs supposed to land when competing with the V11, and the biggest thing going for it is the accuracy. The V11 is a better equalizer, but with decent aim, youĘťll get the precision damage easier with the CE Tac
- Also, if you have a Triage running batteries, you can avoid competing for ammunition.

countering snipers is more of a pathing thing than a gun thing
the only real gun to potentially snipers is your own sniper or a railgun. some precision rifles like the Stryder or Twin Tap can contest them, but I wouldn't generally recommend it

well, yeah. If you're running the shields that make you one-tap to a sniper, you'll probably get one-tapped by a sniper
but for blue and purple runs, you should be able to get tapped, run back into cover, and then get out of the sniper lane

For more serious answer re: dealing with snipers, I do think anything that messes with visuals is key, specifically smoke, but maybe also signal jammer, and as for precision rifles that can throw off a sniperâs aim, I honestly donât have any suggestions for that, because I definitely think repositioning to where you have a fast firing weapon thatâs in a closer range, is probably better way to âduelâ a sniper, than trying to match them at sniper / precision rifle range
Also I donât know how useful LMG shields are for snipers, obviously LMGs are not a weapon that allow for great movement, but I have heard they are good at tanking certain weapon typesâŚ

Yes, but thereâs definitely some chip mods that boost base weapon performance, and some chip mods work better for slow firing weapons vs fast, and I was curious if folks had any recommends for high rate of fire weapons
(Like I know slip protocol obviously works, but idk what else to put on my weapon that is not a situational mod)

Can someone tell me what is the point of something like Sucker Punch if the melee dmg breakpoint is at 80-something?
Or in general explain what is the point of the melee nerf when all it takes is 1 implant and maybe 1 Arachne upgrade to reach the breakpoint? Their reasoning was to have to build towards melee dmg, but I don't see how that is true at all if you can just slap on Graceful Landings or Knife Fight and your melee dmg is already capped?

Similar to what others have said, I try to take the following with me on a Budget Run
- V11 Punch (main weapon, suppressor optional)
- Overrun (optional, use when unable to reload V11 mid-fight, to be replaced by other stuff during run)
- Basic Pack
- Green Health Consumables (I go as low as 1 Patch Kit and 1 Shield Charge, depending on how much of a budget I want to be on)
- 1 Mechanics Kit (optional)
- Smoke Grenade (optional)
- 1 Ammo Stack for each weapon
- Cheapest Green Shields Implant You Have
The curse of this, is if youâre not bartering, all of these things basically equal a 2.5k sponsored kit, so if you see a good sponsored kit in the shop, and you have the extra cash, get it
You can of course forego the Overrun, or replace it with whatever you have in your vault, but I do think, if you donât want to lose stuff, Free Kits are a better deal, and if you want a backpack, either a 2.5k kit that comes with one, or Rook run is better (this all is contextual to what youâre trying to do in the game, of course)
Also, for âBudgetâ Kits, I think a smart thing to do, is to limit yourself to weapons and other things you have access to purchasing in the Armory (especially if youâre a new player) that way you donât lose something you canât reacquire later
2 Punches, green shield and bag, heals and that's it. Triage so you can get away with skimping on heals (2 each if I'm feeling really stingy) + using Battery Overcharge (which makes the Punch a BEAST btw)
uhh shotgun 50/50s feel bad and are stale and there was essentially no point in risking a loadout by not having a wstr when encountering someone else with one just means youâre probably going to die? and thereâs still options to build into extra shots like stack overflow/opportunist/rorschach test/carnage cartridge so now thereâs some opportunity cost in having the cqc win button
also for ppl who dont use shotguns frequently or dont like to use them it is the most demoralizing thing to deal with
also the fact they have multiple times already.. game balance cant come from a place of favoritism or spite for other playstyles and i wish more people were willing to recognize that
There is no build crafting this time.
On outpost a red key card can be acquired from the end of a long platform.
Use vandal to climb on top of the building next to that platform and rat on top of it until somebody goes to collect the card. Then overcharge your disrupt cannon and send them to the void
Not really, WSTR already wasn't competing with medium range weapons. It was competing with other close range weapons.

Steady barrel max's out my recoil reduction on the stat screen. If i use a chip that increases stability (recoil) like bits per second, will recoil still get further reduced?

Like if you're already at 0 recoil there's no point
oh by max I mean it doesnt go any lower even if I add an attachment that's reduces it (so in this case, the lowest it can go on the stat screen is 28% with the barrel)

twintap (max is -28% recoil, making the recoil a total of 40% in the stat screen)
Oh, twintap absolutely does benefit from bits per second after you max out the recoil
oh neat, so the same logic applies to basically any gun

From what I've noticed there's only like 3 mods for a weapon type anyway, outside of certain mods that only fit in 1 or 2 weapons like the CE Tactical's mag and the mods that only go on Lookout/Channel.

You need to check whether things stack. I've found that some things DO stack and some things DO NOT
If something gives a straight +melee stat, there are massively diminishing returns, if it buffs melee damage then it's worth checking whether it's even stacking at all.
@granite magnet there are several breakpoints to hit with just base melee stats, there is basically no point going over I believe 95 now with the nerfs to knives.
I don't think there's a reliable way to re-enable the two heavy down any more at all, even with stacking high stat and melee damage buffs
also have to consider the TTK, almost all combos with 95 stat are essentially the same TTK. 1.44s

This requires people to do testing⌠similar testing has been done in Destiny 2 (which has similar systems) and there, sometimes a buff would increase / decrease something whose associated stat was already maxed out, but that might vary depending on the behind the scenes implementation of a mechanic (whether the mechanic just gives bonus stat points, or if it acts as a multiplier / modifier on the behavior, and not an additive to the stat)

OK, so, it's bothered me there isnt a volt (energy ammo) LMG so I came up with an idea for one.
When you pull the trigger there is a 10th of a second delay before is starts shooting, but when it gets going, its a constant beam like the Sentinel beam from halo. Something like 200 ammo per volt battery when using a max ammo belt/battery thingy. Not sure on the damage numbers but ideally it has like a .6 to .7 second ttk even with the .1 second trigger delay.
Maybe the gold could be a sight that removes your ability to truly ads except a slight zoom and turning on the shield, and the major benefit is as long as the beam is connecting to an enemy, the ammo doesnt drain.

Re: Overrun, it is definitely made for mid-range, and itâs very high rate of fire, so it benefits from anything you can do to maximize its stability, and build it to perform at its listed range
Also, like others said, you can start a run with it equipped k and on the off chance you find an AR or other midrange weapon mid-run, have a large enough backpack where you can store your Overrun, and equip the other weapon

I think only the demolition is worth considering building for long range. Retaliator gets too much bloom and is worse at poke in general due to low per bullet damage, and conquest is weird to poke with because of spinup, although it does have the best base accuracy. Demolition is pretty much halfway to being a PR anyway so building it for range works well.
I think lmgs in general are better for medium close, but for me that's mostly because it feels bad running recoil/range attachments for long range when I could run ads speed/weight reduction attachments instead

Duelist shield is nice for the ads speed and moving accuracy. Balanced shield is probably my next choice for shield for equip speed. If you run afterburner or the reload vandal core, I find mega belt and cloudfeather belt are generally redundant, so either balanced belt or turbo belt make more sense. My favorite chip mod for lmgs is afterburner, as it lets you bypass the long reload and lessens the need for control shield. Slip protocol, bits per second, and circuit tracers are good alternative chip mods. Demolition can use trigger discipline for better long range poke. Sight is preference, but I tend to prefer clear eyed lens for the low zoom when not running a thermal.
Lock and load core on destroyer is amazing for boosting equip speed, and the core that reloads weapons on slides on vandal is also very good as an alternative to afterburner chip

The gold one maybe? The gun itself isnât sold in the armory. You can find it pretty commonly in Arms Lockers on Perimeter and Dire Marsh. Otherwise you need a schema for it

None of the pistol optics are sold directly in the armory. You can get the rangefinder lens pistol sight from buying green and above ces and punches, but that's the only one you can reliably get from the armory.

Although you can't buy pistol optics directly, if you have enough Traxus rank for Rook to spawn with a green weapon, it's always a full green-modded, silenced Punch or CE Tactical. Just extract with that for basic optics and silencers.

My understanding, is that Traxus Mods For This Season Is:
- SMGs
- Assault Rifles
- Precision Rifles
(and any weapons that also take mods from those categories)
^ This makes kitting out these weapons consistently very easy - Rook Runs are the fastest way to get basic mods for CE Tact & V11 Punch
(Which are compatible with other weapon types, for example you can take the silencer from a CE Tact, and put it on a Bully)

SMOKE FIELD which is always shown in Blue to denote it's a Shell related thing like usual. While the Smoke Grenade says it creates a SMOKE SCREEN, that is not shown in Blue text in the description.
This is where my question stems from. Do things such as Cores that Buff Smoke Field also work on Smoke Grenades? Or is that why they create a smoke screen and not a smoke field, so an Assassin can't buff a specific equipment too much?
Example: Ghost Protocol - Any Smoke Field you create lasts longer before dissipating.

This is a hard take but they caused a domino effect with the nerfs, they snipers so less punishment for being exposed in open, they nerfed bubble as the cheap easy cover, they nerfed cheap shotgun/knife as the quick way to collapse and kill bubble teams, and now people are mad about grenades...
I think they went over board (IMO) with all nerfs and should find a better solution like bring longshot fire rate to 75 rpm instead of the 90 orignal and 60 new, keep bubbles kind of similar, bring waster damage back maybe increase rarity and only purple stack overflow works for 3 shots and maybe slightly longer reload/fire rate The grenade problem could probably be adressed by un nerfing weapons again and decreasing grenade spawns in situ

Hey does anyone know the diff between air cooled chamber and tapered heatsink? Both increase reload speed and magazine size. I get one probably has more magazine size than the other and faster reload vice versa but the tooltip for mods is really vague at times.

reload speed on an unmodded circuit breaker is 4.1s, volt drain is 9.4%
with a purple tapered sink, reload speed goes down to 3.3s and volt drain goes down to 4.8%
with a purple air-cooled, reload speed is 2.8 and volt drain is 7.6%
it doesn't make much sense given the name of the mods but it seems like tapered is better for mag size and air-cooled is better for reload speed.
same for the Zeus

Sucker punch donât work, huh đ§ hurricane is good for vandal. It increase stability and reduces errors while in the air

yeah it gives you a super block with 40hp instead of two blocks with 20hp

each bullet could have made it to the target faster if I mailed it to the guy
I feel like the increased range for the Copperhead is just there to pad the attachment count

The Hardline can be good from what I've been experimenting with
The visual kick you get is really jarring which I think turns a lot of people off it
With a recoil reduction, it becomes pretty decent
If you get good recoil mods on it, it can do pretty well yeah. I think the bigger problem is just that it fills a niche that's really competitive and not particularly useful
Still prefer the Stryder though, so much more satisfying to use and I find myself hitting so many more headshots with it over the Hardline

blue m7 for hollowcase mag and stack overflow, blue lmg for bits per sec and lmg stuff, heavy ar for trigger discipline but its kinda expensive
i usually jsut strip the chip mod and use the gun, since for those the guns arent bad

ideally I get a bunch of stack overflows for wstrs, minjammers for snipers and such and Im not sure for bully/smgs... maybe insurrectionist or something

just anywhere youd find a gold mod, outpost red card room. the last sentence is correct, you cant customize any unique weapon, but they have a stat that is increased on them (brrt unique/drrvish has 10 more ammo)
theres spots around outpost that contain a red key, its a beacon that gives you a redcard (search red card video if u want the spots). alternatively u can kill gold boss at dorms for 1 red, i believe any purple bot can drop red (ive only gotten red drops from purp bot in the pinwheel)

quick question: do shell stats overstack? Like if i'm using knife fight v4 along with strike kit v3 and it brings my melee damage to 115, does that have an impact? or is it the same as getting to 100?
