After seeing a lot of footage of Cryo gameplay I don’t believe even a good team could beat the compiler with just grey shields and/or free kits.

This would make sense. The S’pht already looks a bit like a ghost so it would fit for a nighttime horror map.

This is, largely, a good thing

what could be nice is just new contracts not replacing but adding to it. doesn’t take long to do them and if they made it so you don’t have to redo the s1 prios if done already, it would mean new players can do s1 and 2 and old players can pick right up as s2

The problem there is if there’s a whole new set of contracts then you need all new writing, animation, rewards balancing, and voice acting. That costs time and money, so each season would need to make enough money to justify those additional costs.

Each season how many new players are buying the game? How many old players are spending real money on the game? That all factors into how much new content can be added each season.

Also many veteran players will want to be able to do all the S1 contracts. They're free loot

The S1 contracts are made, in the bank, they're not going to be throwing them in the bin 3 months later

I will say that I do believe Bungie when they said that it was technical issues that lead to them to vault content: it’s known that D1/2’s engine was held together by spit and tears.

While Marathon seems like the updated engine is a lot more well held together, especially if it’s to the point they’re able to push out updates pretty quickly.

I suspect they’ll see a bunch of people didn’t finish swaths of prio contracts because the objectives weren’t solo friendly or in very high risk areas and will have to tweak the progression next season

Currently stopped at the sekiguchi quest where you have to start a lockdown and defeat a boss. I don’t see how I can finish it solo so I’ll wait till I can get a team together.

The thing with the current priority contracts is that gameplay wise they really arent that crazy substantial. Narrative wise they could just put this in a cutscene and it would be like a minute or 2 long. Problem is it keeps on building and building. I dont know how they want to introduce new narrative without the quests changing/being vaulted.

Since the seasons are so short, I could see someone devoting a season to a specific priority contract chain instead of trying to 100% all priority contracts every season

This isn’t a typical lockdown and also that’s not even the biggest issue. For this quest you have to activate four control panels east of AI uplink. You also need to get chitin, process it in Bio Research, take the result to Quarantine, inject yourself, and then go back to the quest lockdown near AI Uplink and defeat the boss before time runs out. I don’t see a consistent way to do all that within the time limit without wiping the lobby of other players.

I will say the snowballing effect of all the new Contracts gathering from multiple seasons and the pressure to complete them all within one season will probably start to become an issue later on down the line, but like at a Year 2 point.

I’m thinking there’s a certain point Bungie will start to ease pressure by changing older Contracts so players don’t feel obligated to complete them against the newer ones: perhaps reduce their rewards down to the equivalent of Standard Contracts?

I don’t think any of the contracts are hard to do in a vacuum but the PvP part of the game will definitely wear thin if you have to retread old ground every season.

Joy does know of each Joy plushies' experiences through accessing the recordings as she's seen doing once the colony collapsed

• Most of the people aboard the Marathon were BoBs, by an order of magnitude. Iirc only some 3000? folks actually got the “privilege” of leaving SOL and seeing TCIV via cryo sleep.
• “Meta stability” is often referred two as the fourth stage of rampancy in the fan community, but this is not supported by lore. “Meta-stable” in OG lore is a synonym for “rampant,” and is only used by Durandal in reference to Tycho and himself after killing Tycho. Strauss wanted to create AI capable of true original thought, not a “meta-stable” AI.

I don’t think it’s a case of being right or wrong, just a difference in perspective or opinion.

IMO, once you become conscious of something you own it, simply put. Durandal is aware slavery is wrong while highlighting his own hypocrisy, and then choosing to keep the course. This isn’t to say that he might not benefit from trauma counseling or therapy to help change his ways (dude needs a lot of therapy), but he’s responsible for at least finding a therapist to start the process, otherwise he’s a dick that just happens to be self aware.

(This isn’t to say the person in your example is a dick if they don’t succeed. There’s degrees of culpability and severity. Durandal is a dick.)
