I just enjoy games as long as they last, some of my favorite games were super early live service games like Planetside 1, absolutely loved the game, probably would have it in my rotation still, but I got my joy out of it for sure! They should just offer refunds to anyone that bought the game and the Cryo Archivr being locked to the weekend impacts negatively. They said we get 4 maps, not 3 maps and one map on the weekend. They should have stated it up front, because it’s not a common practice. People should know what they are paying for.

It seems like this cryo archives was designed from the ground up for 1% of the player base. I am not really sure what they are going for with this decision.

Pre-made groups of 3 only, no solo, level 25, gear cost ante, and then you are facing off against a brutal map plus other players... plus it is weekend only?

I dunno. It just seems like this map is intended for people who play games for a job, 8 hours a day.

The real danger isn’t the player base. The real problem is potential for technical debt. As systems break down and aren’t maintained with the same care, bugs will become worse and more persistent. It will take the team linger to respond, even if the issues are game-breaking. Instead of a next-day patch, you get a feature lock and a promise that they’re “looking into it.”

Honestly, making money in the game is so crap, i have a few issues like the fact that Sponsor kits aren't really Sponsor kits... otherwise they'd be ALL free .-. Hence the term... Sponsor... Not discounted, Making money is a little difficult too so when you have a constant bad runs after another it starts to hurt especially if you're bringing stuff in, Devs need to rework either the cost of majority of the items in the Armory, OR make it easier to make money cause imma have to run Cryo as free kits with how expensive it is to buy kits

They thought Destiny 2 would print money forever, and instead got 2 IPs that are simply not lucrative enough for a $3.6B investment.

Bungie’s choices here don’t look good, they either:

a. Double down and continue to sustain Destiny 2 and/or Marathon and hope they start to generate more revenue.

b. Attempt to pivot towards a different live service title with the hope that it has a broader appeal and better ability to generate reoccurring revenue.

If you want to get into the details of why Marathon was a bad idea to begin with, save it. It’s more simple than you’d like it to be. They had a huge, 1,200 person team working for 5-6 years in an extremely expensive city on title that data suggested was niche.

Sales and concurrent players are just a part of the story here. But suffice to say the math isn’t mathing. What was the plan to monetize an extraction shooter with a $300M+ break even? Skins? Get real. Consumer fatigue for $20 cosmetics has been obvious for the past 5 years. Battle Passes are in the same boat. What else can they monetize that won’t result in an outright riot? If stash space, heroes, and maps are all off the table, there aren’t many options left. At the end of the day, the decision to make an expensive, PC-heavy live service extraction shooter in an already competitive market was stupid.
