competitive games sbmm makes sense because the reward for improving is increasing in rank, and you retain that reward when sbmm is present. sbmm in extraction shooter makes no sense because the reward is loot, which you (on average, past a certain point) arent getting any more of if you are getting sbmmed. same goes for trials of osiris if you played destiny, the reward is going flawless, so if you improve without sbmm you go flawless more, if you improve with sbmm you dont go flawless more
