Oh, no no. I mean, a reset with regard to player progression. Very common in extraction shooters. Every X months, the community resets and we all basically start over. It keeps the experience fresh. Means you always have goals to push for. There's never a point in time where you can say, "I'm done, I have everything, and nobody can beat me", etc.

There are lots of ways you can do that from a narrative perspective:

In Arc Raiders, for example, your character goes off on an Expedition beyond the Rustbelt. They're looking for new ruins to discover and explore. And you start back over from Level 1 with a new character every 8 weeks.

In Marathon, yeah it could be that your character is an AI and every few months they have to be hard shut-down / reset to avoid becoming self-aware and running rampant. Or it could be that the timeline itself resets, like in Marathon Infinity. And of course, there might not be any narrative justification at all. Its just cool if there is.
