Marathon isn’t exactly dead. I have a lot of fun playing 30 minute matches building up my loot, turning the wrong direction, and that mistake instantly costing me the whole game, my time, and my gear. That’s just part of getting good and the game design really does a good job. The amount of effort and time is balanced well with how much payoff their is for me, and anyone who disagrees just sucks at the game. The 10 different systems they’re used like implants, cores, shields, health, 6 status modifiers, consumables, etc are actually very simple and easy to understand. It gives that long book-like experience i come to a game for - i enjoy games FEELING like I’m reading a manual. These great features create a game that is greater than the sum of its parts. It’s why the community is sticking together and gaming and having fun w each other for so long.❤️

The environmental design and how it affects gameplay is what i find unique and fun about arc. The visual storytelling for each map is great and that just adds to my enjoyment of the game it is not the sole reason for my excitement and i dont think that is the case for most people as well so i dont know where you got that notion that visuals are the only drawing factor to that game.
