black arrow DOT

I'm not finding the answer anywhere. With black arrow what happens to the DOT on reapplication? Is it better to DOT multiple targets with the resets or just keep overriding an existing one?

with dark hounds, they have potential to come out when black arrow deals damage. if the ticking damage counts for that, multi target black arrow would help
