Not sure, but I tend to have a higher DPS while using specific pet, but it might be a matter of luck. Is there a difference between spirit beast and ferocity in terms of DPS (not utility) or are they the same right now?

All pets do the same damage, but there are still reasons you may want some pets over others.

Beast Mastery wants a Spirit Beast when you don't need to Lust, and a Ferocity pet if you do. Keep a Cunning pet handy for occasional Master's Call use as well.
Survival wants any Ferocity pet for the most part, and a Tenacity pet for when you need max health/the Fortitude of the Bear defensive. Keep a Cunning pet handy.
Marksmanship only uses a pet when it has to Lust, so you just need a Ferocity pet.
For BM, keep a pet of each spec in your top 3 Call Pet slots. When you use Call of the Wild, you will get the passive benefits of all 3 Pet Specs for 20s.

cool, but didn't answer my question. I'm looking for pure stats of pet. Are the damage the same or is there variant on damage based on the beast itself? (cannot find a clear answer :/ sry)
