#Clan ownership requirements change

So, I love how clans now work. It's more organized and I enjoy the direction the clans system is going. I do understand the need to prevent misuse of clans and think that it's a good idea to do so, but I feel they may be a step to narrow.

For those who don't know the requirements, the (summed up version) of the requirements are:

  • Be the verified owner of a Discord server with 10+ real, active members who engage with the community
  • You must have an active clan recruitment page

So, in terms of the first one, I 100% agree with the need to have active engagement with the community of some kind. However, my issue is that you have made this be measured via a Discord server ONLY, instead of giving a few options. The main reason this comes up is from my recently denied request. The reason I was denied was due to my server being inactive, but a large majority of my community is active on YouTube and Twitch, NOT my Discord server. I don't think I would have been accepted regardless though since I've been inconsistent on my platforms the last few weeks, but still, not everyone builds a community using Discord.

Additionally, like I mentioned in the "Login Ability" thread, this game already is gaining an audience that cannot use Discord. Using Discord as requirements for things in general restricts people's enjoyment of the game.

In terms of the clan recruitment page, this isn't something that I have an issue with, but it would be worth actually specifying what that is since it's not actually clear when listed. (I understand what it means, but it took me a bit to figure it out)

Also, it's probably worth making a channel or something to list them as right now you have to find them in announcements, which will eventually get lost as new announcements arrive.

I hope some of this information is actually used to improve the clan system, or at the least, helpful. @ me if you have any questions or comments for me. 👍

In the next updates, people will eventually be able to create clans themselves, without using discord I think

#

And you don't appear very active indeed Deadpan why make a clan if you don't have a community to use your tag ?

#

And if you get the community, how will you talk to them and communicate ? Twitch and YouTube don't really allow that/it is a pain to do

Likewise, our clan was also rejected because it's not open to community, invite only.

@sour ermine I think you're missing what I'm saying. I already have a community I've built up. Right now it's decently inactive, but it's because I've inconsistently streamed because of personal and educational reasons. I've done this before where once I start being active again, my community also becomes active again. (They usually stay active, just with different creators in the community)

Also, communication is a very minimal issue. I do have a Discord server which can be used for communication, but most of the time, communities built from livestreaming are active when the creators in the community livestream. People might play on there own, but most clan events would be while somebody is live, so independent communication isn't needed.

Also, I was giving my situation as an example, not the only issue with the system of using only Discord. This system also prevents groups like a club at a school from having a clan, or communities who just choose to communicate using any of the million other communication services that exist.
